Cloaked Kisses

It was late and the Spy’s tidy room was dark and murky apart from the soft warm glow that seeped from the lamp on the desk. The light flooded the table, showing an array of papers that littered its surface. The only sound that could be heard was the rhythmic ticking of the clock on the bedside table and the soft scratching of pen against expensive paper.

Spy gave an exhausted sigh, the sleek fountain pen in his gloved hand pausing before tapping softly against the tables varnished surface. His warm brown eyes skimming over the words he had written in elegant scripture, the dark blue ink still visibly wet.

Mon dieu, how much more do I need to do?

He thought as he gently tugged on the deep blue tie knotted at his neck and cast a look at the obscured clock. A smile creeped across his lips as his sharp eyes took in the time.

Not long now,

he thought blissfully before resuming his writing. The soft sound of pen against paper once again filling the silence.
