Thunderstorms and Lighters Pt. 1

The sun is setting and the sky is twisting.

Under the weight of the coming storm.

I roll a blunt rush outside waiting for the downpour.

Lucky Zippo spinning in my fingers ready to be lit.

Outside I find a spot and watch the sky spin.

Soon I flick the zippo to life and light my dreams and nightmares.

Making sure to Inhale deeply to burn them away.

When the rain comes the mist is a cold yet somehow gentle in its embrace.

When I see the first of the lightning and hear the thunder I close my eyes to the world.

It’s not fear that makes me want to close my eyes.

It’s out of respect for something beautiful and natural yet so deadly and unrelenting.

I love seeing that even the sky can break.

It reminds me that true strength is braving storms.
