Hi everyone, my wife and I have been unemployed for three months and rent is due in a couple days. I have a promising interview lined up on Thursday and my wife has an opportunity that opened up this morning, but those won't start having an impact on us until after rent is due. To top it all off, the older of our guinea pigs is almost guaranteed to pass away today, after a short illness, and we have no money to handle her cremation. I know there's so many more deserving things going around right now but if you have anything extra you can spare, I'm linking our kofi here. The cremation & preservation of remains that we got her two sisters who passed previously was, if I remember, a little less than $300 all in, so that's what we're looking to get right now. imo the best way to interpret those “real people don’t do x” writing advice posts is “most people don’t do x, so if a character does x, it should be a distinguishing trait.” human behavior is infinitely varied; for any x, there are real people who do x. we can’t make absolute statements. we can, however, make probabilistic ones.

for example, most people don’t address each other by name in the middle of a casual conversation. if all your characters do that, your dialogue will sound stilted and unnatural. but if just one character does that, then it tells us something about that character.

when doctors ask if i have any history of cancer in my family and i have to say that yes my grandmother had 2 types of gastrointestinal cancer and they're like oh wow okay so we'll keep an eye out for that but i'm like no it was probably just all the nuclear radiation and they're like ok hm ok what the fuck do you mean and it's very weird seeing the look on american doctors' faces when you have to explain to them that believe it or not atomic bombs were dropped on this earth 2 generations ago and it did have consequences

This bloodbath has gone on for far too long. At the start of this aggression, the school year had barely just started. The academic year ends in just a month. Everyone, from first graders to university seniors, have lost an entire year at least. I say at least considering even if there is a ceasefire today, Israel had destroyed literally all universities in Gaza and damaged over 400 schools. Lest we forget also Israel's deliberate targeting of university professors and academics.

You absolutely cannot mistake the intent behind all of this.

i admire people who can make animatics so much… the only two times i’ve finished an animatic is when i drew it over the course of 3 months and literally had to have someone on standby threatening me to finish it and when i drew for almost 24 hours straight and literally felt like a walking corpse by the end. how do you people do this on a regular basis

For some background I’m a 22 year old trans guy who is currently trying to make it through nursing school. I’ve had a really rough go financially and in life the last few months- I had to get emergency thyroid surgery in the middle of my first semester of nursing school- and my grandmother was murdered just two weeks after my recovery. This has led me to being out of work for a extended period of time due to the stress of surgery recovery- now having hypothyroidism and grief- all ontop of school. So I’ve been surviving this semester paycheck to paycheck without getting to get a lot of money in savings.

So my college just informed me that my scholarship will not be able to cover my summer semester- I am required to take summer classes to stay in the nursing program. The total that I’ll have to pay in two weeks is 612$.

I don’t typically ask for help like this but I’m at a loss at what else to do- so I’m going to open up emergency commissions.

Here are some examples and starting prices. The way I’m doing these commissions is the starting price is the lowest price I will accept for that commission style- and if you want to pay above that feel free! These commissions will be discounted due to the urgent need of this situation

I can draw pretty much anything! I mostly do dnd character art- and flight rising dragon art- but I’ve done a wide range of commissions in the past! I’m comfortable with furries- robots- humans- animals.

Prices start from highest to lowest!

Full scenes: 45+

Painted fullbody basic background: 35+

Character reference sheet/ fullbody with no background 20-30+

Half bodies: 15+

Headshots :5-10$+

These commissions will have a long turnaround time! Can’t start working full time on them until after finals on may 13th. I will try my best to provide sketches before then ! Please don’t commission if this timeframe does not work with you!
