Fem!sides anyone? Fem!Roceit at that. I normally don’t draw fem!characters or female-presenting characters often so i thought it’d be good to change that up a bit?? (Bc now, bonus, i get more room to design clothes and play w/ long hair styles, ect. >:D)
I may or may not be playing around w/ designs for the the other sides, but idk if i’ll end up finishing them enough to color them. I’ll try tho, bc the practice is definately worth it. ^^

My brain read the first question as “Janus being interchangeable (as in, being the counterpart) with Patton AND Logan” and it reminded of the color analysis I did.
We all know the Sides’ colors come from the rainbow, and Patton gets blue while Logan gets indigo. This is how Newton divided the visible light spectrum (=rainbow.)
However, Newton admitted his eyes are not critical in distinguishing colors. He initially identified five colors from rainbow: red, yellow, green, blue and violet. Orange and indigo were added to make 7 colors, to match the significance of the number.
Orange not being included in the initial colors of rainbow somewhat matches the current situation of the Orange Side; we don’t know what he is.
Furthermore, the colors Newton called blue and indigo would be regarded as cyan and blue, which are actually closer to color schemes of Patton and Logan. So we can call both Patton and Logan the blue side (double meaning intended...not?)
I hypothesize that Patton and Logan were once one side, THE blue one, just like how we love to imagine King Creativity. With the control over both left and right brain, they could’ve in charge of the decision making, the “decisive” Side.
And in contrast to rational decision making, Janus/Deceit/Lie could’ve represented the more impulsive/instinctive Side, the Side determined to get what C! Thomas wants. After all lying is one of the simplest tool to achieve such desire. Once the decisive Side was split into Patton and Logan, Janus too could’ve brought up another Side, possibly from the spite and anger of forcing to be the bad guy. Anger and other intense emotions too can be utilized to achieve what you want anyway.
Thus Janus can be the “counterpart” of Patton and Orange for Logan, but it can also be Janus↔Logan (the rational ones) and Patton↔Orange (the emotional ones), creating the balanced joined forces.
So I was thinking, do you think there's a reason that Janus' position interchanges between standing in Patton's spot and Logan's spot? Do you think it resonates with what sort of approach he's taking to. handle the situation? I just feel like there's something there!
That's a very nice question, so thank you for it! In order to properly explain my opinion, let's see both cases:
CAN LYING BE GOOD
During this episode, Janus was the first to show up. He could've taken the place (or the spot) of any other Side, but he chose to take Patton's.
As we saw in POF, both Janus and Patton work in the same area: morals and ethics. This is their area of expertise. So, when Thomas started the episode with a moral dilemma, Janus simply took the place of the other side responsible of this area and appeared in the spot reserved to "moral Sides".
So yes, I think this is the place he will take from now on - just like I think Remus will take his place next to Roman, once he will be fully accepted.
And this also made me think that, the first time the dark bois appeared, they all did it in the place they will take once accepted: Virgil in his own personal spot, Janus net to the other side responsible for morals, Remus with the other half of Creativity.
This also made me think about Orange, but we'll cross that river once it will be time.
SELFISHNESS VS SELFLESSNESS / POF (before the end card)
In both cases, Janus took the only empty spot and the only one that is diametrically opposite to Patton and closer to Thomas. If we think about it, we have Janus (in Logan's spot) on Thomas' right and Patton on Thomas' left, almost to represent the angel and devil on his shoulders.
So not only Janus took the only other spot closer to Thomas, but also the only one from which he could watch Patton straight in the eye and not sideways like in Roman's or Virgil's spots. It's a bit hard to oppose someone if you're standing next to each other, but you can do it very well if you're facing them. And the body language makes it even clearer: facing each other, instantly makes us think of oppositions and differences.
But why opposing Patton? Because that's what Janus did in both episodes: first he wanted to prove Patton that Thomas isn't as perfectly good as he thought (SvS), then he pushed Patton's stern morals to the limit and forced him to see the consequences of this way of thinking (POF). In both cases, Janus's main interlocutor was Patton, so standing on the opposite side on the room made it clearer he was actively opposing him.
Only when Patton finally got what Janus wanted to say and showed him some trust, finally Janus took his place next to him, as we saw in the end card. And this would prove that Janus doesn't need to oppose Patton at all costs in order to be heard anymore, but he can simply show his points and find a compromise with him through a fruitful cooperation.

Happy birthday to our green trash rat💚🐀🎂
I love how his canonical animal motif is an octopus but literally everyone, including Thomas himself, calls him trash rat
As you might’ve noticed from the color, I headcanon Remus as the older twin (with valid proofs)... and the original ‘good’ creativity. He was supposed to be the Core Side but decided to trade his spot with his beloved baby brother. Here are proofs:
Green light has greater frequency and carries more energy. Blue and violet lights carry more energy than green light. The Sides’ colors come from the rainbow, the visible light spectrum. 2 out of 4 Core Sides’s color are blue, and violet light carries the most energy out of visible light. So can we interpret more frequency/energy as ‘more importance?’
Extension of (1) - doesn’t it make more sense if all Core Sides are cool colored (green~blue) and all Dark Sides (red~yellow)? It creates the irony (’Dark’ Sides being ‘warm/bright’ colored) that contributes to the main message of the series: there is no such thing as perfectly good or bad.
In Western Europe, the Forbidden Fruit was often depicted as an apple, possibly as an intended pun with the Latin words mălum (’evil’) and mālum (’apple’). However Rabbis consider a fig as the real identity of the Forbidden Fruit; unlike apple, fig holds quite a significance in the Bible. For example the book states Adam and Eve made their own ‘clothes’ with fig leaves. The inside part of fig (what we believe to be the fruit, but actually is a flower) is red, while its ‘shell’ is green and turns red as the fruit ripens. ‘Shell’ protecting the ‘Core’...
There should be more proofs if I think hard enough
Just imagine how Roman would react if he was told/remembered that he used to be the bad guy. And all the drama and Remus being the protective brother.
Yes I crave more contents of creativitwins with healthy relationship.

Happy birthday(s) to Roman and Remus. Yes, I know Roman’s birthday was a while ago and Remus’s isn’t here yet, but they’re both in June and so I decided to post this in between those dates to celebrate both their birthdays.
Also I made the crowns look handmade because I feel like Patton would something sweet for both of them like make them paper crowns for their birthdays.

Me: *carefully reads all comments about this challenge thing I’ve kickstarted*
OK in linguistics we die and live. Also multilingual pride everybody!!
Yes I am a language nerd. You might know that already. But I’m THE language nerd who sold their soul to a green avian demon named Duolingo and learns seven languages a week: German, Dutch, Japanese, French, Spanish, Italian and Russian. Yes my first tongue (Korean) and second-becoming-first tongue (English) were not enough.
No thoughts, head empty: Latin speaking Janus only gives me the idea of twins calling him ‘boomer’ (since Latin is the root of Romance languages) and cue offended serpent hissing.
More of my (actually serious) thoughts:
Russian? Русский Язык!
Russian is cool. But the struggle of Duolingo not catching my (butchered) pronunciation is real. Trust me I know that pain too.
Russian with our angsty emo poet? That is awesome combination if you think harder. There are many Russian poets/novelists who left masterpieces like Fyodor Dostoevsky and Vladimir Nabokov. This poetic association only makes me associate Virgil with literature in general, so I think Virgil would enjoy reading in general.
Am I saying Virgil is a secret bookworm? Oh hell yes.
Yet I thought about it harder and made this beautiful connection: European languages can roughly categorized into three groups. Romance languages in South, Germanic languages in West and North, and Slavic languages in East.
Virgil being the only Slavic language speaker makes sense since he exhibits plenty of unique characteristics. The only side to have one vowel in his name, the only side to have ‘I’ in his name, the only side to be named after a person (when others were named from either ancient Greek concept or ancient Roman mythical figures,) the only ‘former’ Dark Side to be accepted by Core Sides and Thomas (for now)...
But I can also see Remus learning Russian and mixing up Latin alphabets and Cyrillic alphabets solely to annoy others (and it also looks cool.) Especially the Лogical Side and Дeceiving Side.
Korean? 한국어?
My first language is Korean. I do know it is generally classified as language isolate (not having other similar language) but can’t really imagine how hard it is to learn for foreigners. (Trust me, reading it is actually easier than it seems)
One reason I associated Korean with Virgil is this article “Why So Many Former Emos Are Now K-Pop Fans.” I was first horrified when I found this, but maybe I want Virgil in Kpop fashion. Maybe. Heck even Thomas. Thomathy I won’t mind at all even if you horribly butcher pronunciations while singing Kpop
Virge could’ve come across Kpop while searching for more emoness and decided to learn the language a few weeks later, just like thousands of Kpop fans. Seeing people all over the world wanting to learn my mother tongue because of a music - it is almost magical phenomenon.
Official Languages of UN
There are six official languages of the UN: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish. We can simply assign these to the six Sides we know (for now.) My take is Remus-Arabic, Logan-Chinese, Patton-English, Janus-French, Virgil-Russian, Roman-Spanish. Feel free to add yours!
Diacritics and IPA
Based on my experience, one of the biggest pain of learning European languages (that use Latin alphabet) is diacritics. The Sides would definitely GAAAAAASP loudly whenever someone mispronounces the diacritics. Or they would have an uselessly heated discussion regarding pronunciation (e.g. ‘w’ sounds like ‘v’ in German) and someone would tiredly bring up International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) to stop the discussion.
Bonus point if Remus reacts to ‘IPA’ with ‘India pale ale.’
False friend
Yes. This nasty is either of a pair of words in different languages that look or sound similar, but differ significantly in meaning. For example ‘morbido’ means ‘soft’ in Italian. Just imagine the internal crisis when Italian-speaking Patton first sees the English word ‘morbid’ or vice versa. Or two Sides thinking their multilingual argument is actually working but in reality it’s bunch of nonsense.
Code Switching!
Really, I believe ‘code flowing’ is more accurate, because it happens as smoothly as breathing. I believe learning a new language is an equivalent of gaining a new spirit. Thus I headcanon every Side as multilinguals and their ‘flirting’ must involve at least two languages (bonus points if those languages use different alphabet system.) Because learning your lover’s first language is the most romantic act now fanfic writers, do your job
P.S.
As an honour of your European background:
Eurovision aka ‘trashy glittery camp show with arson and gays included’ is basically a karaoke period for the Sides. Whenever the song in the language they know is playing, any Side won’t hesitate to step out and sing it. Bonus points for the non-European language speaking Side hissing in the background
Silly fun challenge prompt: what languages do you associate with the Sides/what would be the 2nd language each Side learn?
For example I am a big fan of Hispanic (Spanish speaking) Creativitwins fanon. And c! Thomas too could've learnt Spanish in high school and the fact his love interest is hispanic too just makes perfect sense-
And in contrast to Hispanic twins I headcanon Janus as a francophone (French speaking) for two reasons: 1) it was still lingua franca around Victorian era, his aesthetic inspiration and 2) dividing American high school by Spanish class vs. French class is like causing Civil War (I was and still am a language nerd, so I learnt both languages, which was a mistake but the kind of mistake that was worth it when you think about it later)
German suites Logan since lots of famous philosophers are German. I associate Japanese or Korean with Virgil since those two are really dominant in the current subculture world (and maybe our emo could've been inspired and turn into E-boy - wow that sounds terrifying)
I don't have strong preference on Patton's but Italian sounds nice, since all those music and dessert and anything sweet are often from Italy. And maybe 'Orange' can be some language that sounds harsh like Russian, so he can murmur in that in sleep and scares everyone else
I know you're in Europe: 1) you use GMT and 2) Americans wouldn't care about Eurovision. So I wonder how you would think based on your European experience!
Oooh, I like this! As European Who Studied Languages, I definitely approve this and I'll gladly add my two cents about which languages the sides should learn.
_________
Roman: He canonically knows Spanish and that's perfect like that. Spanish is a romantic language, someone speaks Spanish and you can't help but swoon. It’s a great choice for the Side responsible for romance and passion.
_________
Remus: Remus isn't just intrusive thoughts, but there’s a very high chance he’s also responsible for Thomas' sexual urges. So, what is the language made for sex? You’re right, it’s French. French is sexy. You can say anything in French and bam, ✨sexy ✨.
"Je sors la poubelle." Sexy, isn't it? Well, I just said "I'm taking out the trash". See? Very sexy.
(French people, please confirm my words. We all know it’s true)
_________
Janus: Your points are incredibly valid and I love them. But if we should choose among all languages, I would love Janus to be one of the very few (extremely few) people in the world who can speak Latin.
I know Latin is a dead language, but it would be great - and not just because of the connection with his name.
Let’s consider that the other Romance languages, despite evolving from Latin, cannot entirely understand it, because they all changed a lot through the centuries after mixing with the Germanic ones. On the other hand, the Germanic languages (English, German, Swedish and so on) are part of a completely different group, only slightly influenced by Latin, so they cannot understand it.
In other words, Janus would speak a language that only sounds familiar - and maybe you can grasp a couple words here and there if you know a romance language, but the true meaning is hidden. What is he actually saying? Who knows. Is he actually cursing someone? Who knows. After all, do you understand Latin? Yeah, me neither.
If I have to pick a language that is still spoken today instead, I think I'll join you with French. Your points are valid and French is a very elegant language, fitting for Janus’ whole aesthetic. So yes, French could work.
_________
Logan: German is a great choice and you are absolutely right with your point about the philosophers. Also German is a language of harsh sounds and strict grammar rules - for example:
declensions that should be used accordingly for articles, adjectives and nouns
specific verbs for specific meanings
words made by putting together shorter words (like Haustürschlüssel.  Haustür means “front door”, Schlüssel means “key” -> this word means “front door’s key”)
sentences that should follow a specific construction, with parts of the compound verb after the noun and part at the end of the sentence. And secondary phrases also have a specific syntax and should always be introduced by a comma
In other words, it's a very organized language and I think it would fit Logan.
But also, considering that almost all words related to science and philosophy come from Greek, I think Logan should at least understand some Greek. As a treat.
(Also because Greek is another incredibly complicated language, so if someone has the patience to learn it, it’s definitely Logan.)
_________
Virgil: oh my gosh, I never thought about an eastern language for Virgil. In a way, it would be a very peculiar choice and I kinda like it. Japanese and Korean are extremely complicated languages, they have a very specific alphabet (I'm especially thinking about the Japanese one, that even asks for a specific direction to write words) and require a lot of work (and memory) to learn them.
But Virgil is also a poet and when I think of poets and sonnets my first connection is with the french ennui, le mal du vivre and especially Baudelaire and his works. Virgil would appreciate Baudelaire a lot. So French, again.
But hey, there’s too much French now. So I’ll pick the other european literature full of sadness: the russian one.
Russian is supposed to be a big scary language and its alphabet is weird and omg what if they're cursing us? But if you learn it a little bit, you’ll find out that Russian has a lot of soft/open sounds (due to a good use of vowels) and it's very poetic.
So the language itself is a bit like Virgil: he seems scary and evil at a first glance, but if you learn about him, he's actually kinder than he looks.
But never underestimate Russian, because just like Anxiety, fear is just behind the corner: you start learning it and wow, there is just one present tense, one past tense and one future tense? This is great, what a wonderful language!
And then, before you’ll realize it, you will find out that each verb has a “doppelganger” used for entirely different purposes AND there a gazillion verbs of motion and you will end up crying on the floor, because there are just too many verbs - and look, there are also one trillion particles you can put before these verbs and they give them EVEN MORE MEANINGS.
No, this isn't entirely based on my personal experience, what makes you think that.
_________
Patton: I have never thought about Patton learning another language, because English just fits him too well.
But when you proposed Italian... well, my heart just wiped out everything else. There is nothing here, only Patton speaking Italian.
So yes, Patton's second language should be Italian. No, it must be Italian. Because French is the language of sex, Spanish is the language of love, but if you want to declare your eternal love to someone, you use Italian. Do you want to marry someone? Italian. Do you want to tell your significant other how much you adore them? Italian. Italian has one million ways to express love and Patton should use them all with his kiddos.
And yes, Italian is also associated with warm people, warm places and good food, all things Patton deserves and should enjoy. So Italian is a big yes.
_________
Orange: since Orange is a mystery, I am a bit torn between these two languages:
1) Esperanto: This language is amazing, because it isn’t a natural language, born like all others, but it has been built by a man, who wanted to create an universal language in order to foster world peace and international understanding.
So this language has been created to be as simple as possible, with a very regular grammar (unlike all other natural languages) and its words all have references to other language groups (romance, germanic, slavic, indo-europeans, finno-ugric languages and so on).
And if you actually listen to it (especially if you know some latin languages) you will find it weirdly understandable. I found this video in particular and I was impressed by how strangely familiar esperanto sounds.
And... that’s it, I just think it would be kinda poetic that the last side knows a language that all others can use and understand.
2) A Greenlandic language. Why? Because they are insanely polysynthetic.
What does that mean? If in German you can make words by putting together other two/three words (like in the example I used before), in the Greenlandic languages you can build an entire sentence by putting together nouns, verbs, articles and everything else. All together in one single word, whose meaning can be translated with an entire sentence in another language.
Do you want an example? Here is an example from Wikipedia: tuntussuqatarniksaitengqiggtuq.
Yes, this is a word.
This word is from the Yupik language and means "He had not yet said again that he was going to hunt reindeer.". And this word is made of:
tuntu- (= reindeer)
ssur-  (= hunt)
qatar- (future tense)
ni- (= say)
ksaite- (negative)
ngqiggte- (= again)
uq  (3rd.sing.IND)
Is this insane? This is fucking insane. Do you want to be scared? This is real fear. What the heck. How. Why.
You know what? This is perfect for Orange, I’ll leave Esperanto to Thomas. Orange deserves to be this scary. I can already see the other sides quiver before him.
_________
And so, here are my guesses! If someone has other ideas, feel free to add yours and tell us why, so we can all have a nice discussion :D

Welcome the the cursed world of Kpop senpai
For some reason my people are really determined to provide audio AND visual aesthetic feast.
Of which we do not complain. Not at all. It’s one hell of free animatic material real estate.
youtube
I did a huge mistake.
I never watched the official video of Villain, the last addition to Janus' playlist.
And oh my god, it's the most beautiful thing ever. Everything is a possible meme, every scene is a masterpiece.
Just imagine Janus doing the same with Remus' help. *chef's kiss* Pure perfection
Please, watch it. It's worth everything.

SO, as someone who have been following Sander Sides for years, this is the surprising first time I tried to draw them lmao
I was just listening to SIX the musical and I'm like, oh, oh,,,, color coded characters,,, and it just, fits,,, so effortlessly, I just had to make it into some karaoke session with the sides as Thomas listens to the soundtrack, this was so fun to make
(if it's not already very obvious: Janus as Katherine of Aragon, Remus as Anne Boyelyn, Patton as Jane Seymour, Romas as Anna of Cleves, Virgil as Katherine Howard, Logan as Catherine Parr)
(and if you haven't listened to SIX, WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE)

You know what I want?
I want a Sanders Side’s high school/college au where the stereotypes are switched.
Instead of Jock Roman, give me Roman who is a bit of a nerd. Roman who geeks out about Disney and musical theatre to anyone who will listen. Roman who has overlarge glasses that are bright red and bright colorful sweater vests. Roman who is a bit too introverted to be considered for the main roles in the school plays and musicals, so he works on sets, getting his creativity out in the only way he can.
Instead of Pastel Patton, give me Patton who wears only blacks and grays. Patton who grew out his hair to cover his eyes. Patton who writes angsty poetry that is also very poignant. Patton who is never without his huge headphones, which he uses to block out everyone else’s words about his dark demeanor and bad jokes. Patton who, no matter his own depression, always tries to cheer others up with his dry humor, even if it doesn’t work all the time.
Instead of Goth/Emo Virgil, give me Virgil who plays sports. Virgil who, despite his scrawny stature, is surprisingly good at running. Virgil who has an overlarge letterman jacket to replace his hoodie. Virgil who plays football, baseball, swimming, or whatever else. Virgil who’s popular and tough, hiding his insecurities behind his large group of almost friends.
Instead of Nerd Logan, give me Logan who wears bright colors and flowery patterns because they’re calming, and self expression is good for mental health. Logan who wears soft blues and pinks and mint greens, and always has at least one butterfly clip in his hair, to hold his bangs back while he studies. Logan who hates that he’s made fun of for his choice of style, because he’s not a joke, alright?
