"I held you, Buck," Bobby says softly, staring at the rain outside. It's quiet in the station, everyone having gone to the bunks. They should too, it's late, and with these 24-hour shifts you need all the rest you can get.
But here they are. Standing near the opening of the station, watching as rain clatters onto the pavement.
"What do you mean?" Buck asks him. They hadn't talked, so Bobby saying that out of nowhere surprised and confused him.
Bobby rubs a hand over his face and sighs loudly. Buck’s heart aches because Bobby looks old like this. His hair having turned fully grey, more rimples on his face, and this... exhausted aura around him sometimes. His biggest fear is losing Bobby, whether it's during a call or Bobby turning older and dying of old age. He's not sure if he could live without this steady father figure. For so long he grew up without one and now he finally found one...
"That night. When you died," Bobby tells him, his voice distant. "I held you... Eddie- he... he lowered you down. And for a moment... there was no gurney. Just you and me. And I held you in my arms. I carried you for a moment. And I thought..."
Buck waits for Bobby to continue. He didn't expect to be talking about this. He thought everyone moved on from it. He's been working hard in therapy to adjust to life again with the knowledge that he had died.
"You thought what?" He asks when Bobby doesn't speak for five minutes, give or take.
"My children... I got to hold them when they were born, but not when they died. You... I didn't get to hold you when you were born, but... I held you when you died. I... I held your dead body. Cold. Lifeless..."
"Bobby..." he doesn't know what to say. He steps closer and reaches out to Bobby, placing a hand on his shoulder. "I'm alive now."
Bobby takes in a deep breath, it's a little shaky but he glances at Buck and smiles at him like he didn’t just confess something heartbreaking. "I know. And I am very glad you are."
Buck nods slowly, his hand tightening on Bobby’s shoulder for a moment. Then he pulls Bobby in a hug. Bobby’s arms slide around his back and hold onto him tighter than usual.
"Now you've held me while I was alive," Buck whispers, resting his face on Bobby’s shoulder.
Bobby makes a weird sound. He thinks it could be a sob. "Yeah," Bobby answers eventually, his voice scratchy. "You're alive."

No im not “grieving” Buddie, do you know how amazing it is to have queer/bisexual men representation in today’s media? Do you know how important it is for all of the community and the younger people watching this? This is a huge milestone and Buck’s sexuality is valid outside of any type of ship. Today we celebrate.

One thing about Bobby is that he will be LURKING in the back of buddie scenes
I know I’ve said this before but it only felt right to form what I call the “ooo my matchmaking project is going so good but taking so long because my dumb son and son in law are clueless idiots” compilation (title under construction):
Eddie’s introduction: (bobby to buck: “do you like it? I got him just for you”)

Gayest gym scene ever- which is impressive due to the sheer fact that gyms are actually one of the top five gayest places in the world (super real fact by me because I said what I said):
The got eachother backs scene: (yes I know I could’ve used the ss from when he came over but him lurking the back is funnier)

The start of the Buckley Diaz family:
The pining Eddie era:
The buck being very unsubtle and eyeing Eddie who is sweaty and panting: (bare with me for the fact that it’s a video it’s necessary to get the full effect)
“Please dear god look over Eddie and catch my idiot son giving you heart eyes”- Bobby nash 24/7 probably:
“Did you seriously give chimney advice to go after his Buckley cos life is too short while my son is looking at you like that?”:
