The Map

Imagine yo have a map. It’s not just any map,but a magic one. It doesn’t lead you on quests or show a traveler which laces to be weary of, but it knows how you’re feeling. It knows if you’re unhappy, sad, lonely and it shows you a path. The path will lead you to a place, or a person that will make you feel better, make you happy again. Where would you go? Who would you see? 

The map seems like an amazing thing that everyone should have does it not?

That place, or that person you just thought of, do they make you feel happy? Do they make you feel safe? If that’s where the map will take you, is there really any need for it? 

It’s a conundrum, we think we need this thing because it will help us, but in the end if we already know what makes us happy, we don’t need a thing to show us what we already know. 

So why do we think we have to listen when other people tell us if that person, or that place makes us happy, or that they or it shouldn’t make us happy, that we should be ashamed for loving it, if we know they’re wrong? Why must we let others ruin our happiness?

This is why this book, even though old, is still considered a classic and why it is required for high schooler’s to read. So many people can relate and they need to know they aren’t alone, even if that comes in pages and words shaping together a person for them to relate to.

Headcanon

Now that Gansey has been resurrected Blue is able to kiss him without fearing his death. The prophecy has already come true, maybe now he is immune to it, much like Ethan and Lena in Beautiful Creatures. After Ethan was resurrected he could freely touch Lena without worrying that he’d be burned. So maybe the same thing could be said about Gansey and Blue.
