How to Sell a Haunted House - Grady Hendrix

3/5 ⭐️

Title felt misleading and I didn’t love the subject matter. Also, not a big fan of campy horror novels (that’s on me though for not doing proper research on the author before picking this up). I did like the characters and how they were interacting with each other and there were some fun action scenes.

The Pram - Joe Hill

5/5 ⭐️

Read this in one sitting and I really enjoyed it. I just wished this was a fully fleshed out novel and not just a short novella. There were many things left unanswered (although I didn’t mind that too much).

The Fisherman - John Langan

4/5 ⭐️

I loved the atmosphere of this book. The author has a great way with words - I didn’t even mind the pages full of fishing lingo. I think it has some pacing issues right around the middle, which is why it took me longer than usual to finish this one.

This was an absolute page turner. It takes a lot for me to get scared by a book but I had to read this with the lights on because it was so creepy. I love the lore and everything you can do in real life to find out more. Can’t wait for the next part!

Slide House - David Mitchell

3/5 ⭐️

I didn’t know that this was a little extra novel adding to the Bone Clocks universe, which I didn’t read. Despite that I had no issues understanding what was happening (couple of easter eggs probably went over my head though). It was an okay read, a little repetitive. I didn’t really care for any of the characters so the tension arc fell flat for me. I did like the gothic mood and the setting.

Fourth Wing - Rebecca Yarros

I’m not big into fantasy besides the occasional read, but this was such a fun read. I liked the setting and the universe a lot. The romance was a little predictable but that didn’t bother me. Same goes for the chosen one tropes.

Iron Flame - Rebecca Yarros

4/5 ⭐️

It suffers a little from second book syndrome to me. I feel like there was a lot of meaningless filler plot that didn’t necessarily need to be in there. But it really picked up about halfway in and made up for it. I have to say, I’m not really into spice so I just skimmed over those scenes.
