Looking now at the spacing for my larger final design... 24/05/2017
Red areas are where i am currently looking at (not my definite space, easily change)
The sharp edges of the walls would be perfect for me to tilt my typography and vinyl pieces/ to make it look as though the sentences/words are running off.

Final piece adaptation - 23/05/2017
Currently a work in progress but final outcome will be much stronger and clear to understand. I have decided to create not 1 overall piece but 3 outcomes which will explain my journey and purpose of this safety signs project. The vision of what is pretty impressive, this now gives me the challenge to make my vision come to life! ... Lets start making!!!

Semiotics
This is a word which i have to get used to! Tutors advised me to use this word more... But what the hell does it mean?
A general philosophical theory of signs and symbols that deals especially with their function in both artificially constructed and natural languages and comprises syntactics, semantics, and pragmatics.
Or in simple terms:
The study of signs and symbols and their use or interpretation.
This word is what my project is about, it might as well be my title. BUT, for my final piece, what if I created something in which did the complete opposite of what a sign or symbol is traditionally made for.
Throughout my research I have studied safety signs and symbols, which has led me to research language as this is featured in many signs, trying to make it evident of what the sign is saying. Also body language is a major factor when going in to deeper research in regards to humans and language. Body language is how we communicate sometimes, when words can’t be said, we recognise certain tells and movements of each other in which indicate a certain action or feeling.
The next stop on this route is emotional safety, how people recognise certain SIGNS. From feeling depressed to happy, do people notice the signs we give off? Do people pay attention to them? Like a lot of signs, sometimes they’re ignored.
“Signs form a language, but not the one you think you know” (Calvino. I. Invisible Cities, 2009).
