Due to the inaction of LA City Council, Los Angeles renters do not have strong protections preventing evictions. It bans almost all abortions in the state, with NO exceptions for cases of rape or incest. An abortion would only be legal if the pregnant person’s life is at risk. Hey Friends, Two years ago my organizing fam, Ground Game- Los Angeles and People Organized for Westside Renewal (POWER) went to People's Action Rise Up! national conference. Since then, Ground Game has become an official member-organization of People's Action. In the last two years, Ground Game has been building deep coalitions across the county, running grassroots electoral campaigns, lobbying, staging actions, gaining seats on Neighborhood Councils, and organizing with local organizations on the most pressing issues and crises we face: homelessness, housing, migration, environmental degradation and criminal injustice. These bi-yearly national conferences give us an opportunity to come together and learn about the struggles communities across the country are facing, refine our organizing skills, meet with representatives and congress members to discuss policy initiatives, create greater solidarity, and deepen our commitment to the organizing work. Each Ground Game teammate is aiming to raise $1,000. That pays for our flight and our stay. The extra $ would go to members that have less resources.
