i raised my baby sister for a few years when she was younger, but now she is nine years old and lives a continent away from me and we’re still close in a different (healthier due to financial and support structure situations) way, but it’s a bittersweet and bizarre thing to watch someone you used to be in a very small bubble with become strange and unknowable in all of the very best ways. i know my situation is unique and elements of it probably not what inspired the piece but i just wanted you to know that your “i like my little sister but i don’t know if she’s the castle or the cats living in it” artwork is my go-to whenever i am missing her too dearly. she’s unbelievably weird and wonderful and you captured such a strong emotion for me, it’s truly a deeply touching piece and i am so grateful you shared it <3 <3

thank u so much, sorry im replying late. i never had any siblings growing up but in the end it doesnt matter much what the actual relation is, the picture was about having a child in your life that is just so wondrous to interact with and letting them be themselves thru it all. there could be anything in that little head! i worked at an elementary school for a year, so some of the kids from there + my 2 little cousins were my main source for emotion. and a situation like urs is so prime of an example. i did title it that because i always did wish for a sister when i was younger

can anyone find me this video i saw on tumblr a long while ago where its one of those simple animal trap designs where a guy shoos a chicken to pick up some seeds from his contraption that makes the chicken fall through a trapdoor into a pit, but it has classical music in the background and in the brief moment where the trapdoor is open, the music gets louder for a second implying that there seems to be some sort of orchestra down where the chicken is falling
