It's funny because it's not "narcotic," it's necrotic.
“He steps into the abyss and immediately bounces back, taking 5 narcotic damage.”

Another nice map, this one I can turn into anything I want really. Here's hoping I can fit it into my CoS game.

Curse of Strahd 1st Game
My players made character sheets, three of whom being human triplets of fantasy Mexican descent that ended up becoming luchadores, and my fourth player was a grave cleric. The adventuring party sets off for Barovia after receiving word from a Vistana that the burgomaster of Barovia requires assistance. They pass through the Eastern Gates, which close behind them, and become concerned that they may be trapped in this valley. They smell a corpse and go a little distance into the woods and find said body holding a note from Kolyan Indirovich, Burgomaster of Barovia, telling people to stay away from the valley. While the characters ponder this they hear a wolf in the distance, then another and so on until five wolves were howling, they remained in the woods, contemplating. Soon, five dire wolves attacked, instantly knocking out the cleric (After the first four wolves missed, one hit for Max damage on the useful party member). The party's most involved player fell back out of the tree line and ordered the others to do the same. One did, and the other PUT A DIRE WOLF IN A HEADLOCK AND KIDNAPPED IT! Why can't my players be serious?

One of my players died in the first few minutes of play too, but it was to a Behir at level one so...
Quickest player death.
D&D story time.
I was running the first sesson of a new campaign. Everyone starting at level 1. We had an Elf Druid, a Half Elf ranger, a Dragonborn Sorcerer, and a Tiefling Rouge. As the party was going through introductions,
5'2 90 lb. Tiefling “I don’t like to be touched.”
6'3 250 lb. Dragonborn “I pat her on the head.”
Tiefling “I bite his hand”
Ok so you bite his hand… roll to hit
Rolls NAT20.
Roll 1d4 damage…?
Rolls 4 doubles to 8
Dragonborn sorcerer only has 8 hp.
Ok so you bite his hand off and he is now bleeding out.
No one has any healing pots or magic. All level 1 charactors.
Dragonborn rolls 3 on death save.
Next save Nat 1.
Dragonborn is dead.
Tiefling “I said I don’t like to be touched.”
