I found out recently that the Stitch and Jumba fight was actually altered quite a bit for the theatrical release.

Some of these changes I can definitely understand, especially moments like the chainsaw which followed Lilo in the old cut.

i think what bothers me about a lot of "girl power" narratives is that they function on the implicit idea on the idea that women can become worthy of respect. and i happen to think that really caring about women means believing they already are worthy of respect. that historical seamstresses and soccer moms and forgotten sisters and sweet polite little girls and someone's weird grandma matter just as much as the warriors and politicians, even if they, personally, never accomplish anything "cool."

Media literacy has become a completely meaningless term. It literally just means that you can tell how valuable something is as a source of information. It means the ability to avoid being tricked by manipulative ways of delivering information, to look behind what is being said to who is saying it and how credible they are and recognizing when a media is presenting stereotypes. “Literacy” means “ability to read", so "media literacy" means "ability to read media", any media, not just cartoons. Marinette stans who ignore half of canon definitely don't know what happens in the show and what it might be saying because they choose to be ignorant of that.

Imagine showing up to book club and declaring that you will be ignoring every time the protagonist does something you don't approve of, which covers almost all the most plot-important chapters of the book and, if anyone mentions anything from those forbidden chapters, you’ll start screaming insults at them. People would think you were a clown no matter how good you were at reading that text. Like, it's not anyone's ability to read that's in question, it's the ability to handle what they've read.

Also, like, I know they probly mean just the media analysis skills not focused on discerning credibility when they say “media literacy”, but even that's not accurate. Imagine coming to literature class and bullying the professor out of the room and then taking over the class and declaring yourself a literature professor. The actual media analysts left the fandom after the show got too unbearable. I have literally seen more than one post commenting on the lack of new meta/analysis posts. The analysts either left or are tagging their analysis as “salt”, because merely describing the canon as it stands counts as salt now. People are being forbidden from reading the whole text if they want to avoid the standom screaming and throwing up.

Marinette stans are allergic to the very concept of media literacy, no matter what definition you use.
