I went ahead and filed a complaint, I hope it gets taken down soon.
HEY important, but there's a site called Citron Games which have been taking games off itch.io and uploading it to their site and claiming they're the publisher/copyright holder of them!
I've seen a lot of vns on there from devs I know/follow, but I've also seen some IFs on there as well.
I'd recommend checking the site to make sure your game isn't on there and if it is, issuing a DMCA takedown!

This is a random thought I just had, but the futher I get in writing an IF such as Misplaced, the longer the wait between chapters will be. Every decision, every branching path almost doubles the workload, and it is starting to get pretty noticable. I just finished writing a scene for Chapter 11 titled: 11BM11Arom - that basically translates to Chapter 11, route B, Maeve, scene 11 version A, romantic relationship. In Chapter 1, scenes were titled like: 1A or 1B.
On one hand, look how far we've come! On the other hand, maaan that's a lot of work. Worth it though, for sure.

Is Misplaced your first IF ?? If so, damn. Just damn. If not, mind giving more to read ? >:)
It actually is my first IF (the first of many, I hope)! So if you're wanting more to read, I fear the only thing you can do is be patient :)

Hey there ! so sorry but The game keeps changing my pronouns to he/ him ? I just started and during chapter two it switches.
During the interlude after Chapter 1, there's the opportunity for you to change the MCs name and/or pronouns. If you chose that option (it's the very first choice of the interlude), you might have accidentally selected the wrong pronouns? Also, if you only want to change the MCs name and not their pronouns, you do still have to reselect which ones those are.
I'd try replaying that section and see if that was the cause of the problem.

I found Misplaced recently, and it's great!
In currently on the second day of the summer festival, and I love that the red eyed grey rabbit kinda looks like a changeling, it also reminded me of my own grey (originally white) rabbit plushie, tho mine doesn't have red eyes
Tumblr media
I used to make it's ears look like all sorts of different hairstyles, with no gender in specific in mind, I like to imagine the champion got a version of this rabbit but with red eyes
Aww, that's adorable! Yes, I was imagining something along those lines as well!

Hi..
As a fan of medieval related fantasy I can't help but wonder how does Grahm family keep their name if MC is a women and say married to the prince? Wouldn't MC children be of Prince family? Or is MC Family have contingency heir to take up the spot like cousin or something?
While I understand this is fictional story I just can't help but ask such question.
It is a valid question to ask! A few things:
The society here isn't quite as patriarchal as real medieval society was (or even our society today is, to be honest). Should the only child be a daughter, she would still be able to carry on the family name if her partner were willing to acquiesce. Of course, that wouldn't be an option when marrying into the royal family, you are right about that.
Other means of succession, such as adoption or simply naming someone else as an heir, are legitimate options as well. Then, of course, the Grahm family is a bit larger than what we have seen in the story so far. Even if something happened to the MC (whether it be marrying the prince or, well, dying), they'd figure something out.
Of course, sometimes noble family lines just die out (or are disgraced). Then their territory would be redistributed, and that would be that.

Just finished chapter 8 and wowzers that was so amazing!!!! Did you come up with vynns ballads yourself? cause they're honestly one of the best lyrics I've come across in a while 😸😸
Aww, thank you so much! Yeah, I wrote them myself. I wish I could do more than just write the lyrics, but I don't know anything about musical theory or composition. I suppose the rest is up to the power of imagination. Though people seem to like the ballads a lot, which makes me very happy. Can't have a character that's a musician without having them perform at some point, right?

Greetings, calliope :3
I just wanted to tell you in case it was unintentional, but as I was catching up with the public demo (amazing writing btw, teared up at vynns ballads) I thought that it only goes up to chapter 8, but chapter 9 is available and I'm able to play, although I'm not subscribed to the patreon (unfortunately </3), just wanted to bring this to your attention if it was a mistake since in the pinned post it says public only goes up to chapter 8 ;P
No, that was intentional. I just hadn't updated the pinned post yet. Good eye though!
I do wish I knew anything about musical theory at all so I could write proper songs for them, but I'm glad to know that the lyrics alone are enough to get the emotions across.

What are the limits of changelings shape-shifting? Can they only turn into people that are humanoid with two arms and two legs? Could they have multiple appendages or abnormal body parts?
The shape-shifting ability is limited by three aspects: imagination, what is physically possible, and magic.
Imagination: The changeling would have to be able to picture what they want to look like. If the MC has never see a selkie, then they won't be able to look like one. If the MC can't imagine the fact that someone might have different coloured eyes, then they won't be able to come up with an appearance that has heterochromia.
Physically possible: The appearance needs to be something that could exist naturally. So it would absolutely be possible to have an extra toe - but six arms, dragon wings, perfect vision and venemous teeth? No, as that is a combination of traits that would not occur naturally.
Magic: The transformation is only ever purely physical, and does not include the copying of any inherent magical traits. So a changeling could shift into a fire-sprite, but they would not get any advanced fire magic. Or they could change into a dryad, but they wouldn't get their own grove or be bonded to any trees.

"piggybacking" off of that earlier cuddling position ask, how would the RO's feel about a shorter mc insisting that they'd be big spoon? (for at least the little spoon RO's)
Vynn would be all for it. Why wouldn't they? Whether the MC is tall or not isn't really of any consequence to them.
Lester knows too well what it's like being short and still wanting to be in the big spoon position from time to time, so he'd get it and indulge the MC. Still, he'd hope the MC would extend him the same courtesy and consideration.
Thianne thinks it would be better if the big spoon were taller than her - and she does not have enough tact to keep that opinion to herself. She'd still be fine with this arrangement, of course, but she'd complain a bit - especially if she knows that the MC is a changeling and could just make themself taller.
As for Maeve and Az'Lean - while Maeve prefers being the big spoon, if the MC truly insisted on it, she'd give in. It isn't a hill she would die on. Az'Lean, on the other hand, would not compromise. Either he is the big spoon, or there won't be any spooning at all.

Very important question: when cuddling, which characters would prefer to be a big spoon and/or a little spoon? :D
Excellent question!
Vynn would prefer being the little spoon, but they're also pretty restless, so they'd probably want to switch positions every once in a while. The MC would likely get their shins kicked a couple of times, but it'd be worth it.
Maeve would prefer being the big spoon, not just because she's so tall, but she rarely gets the chance to hold someone she cares about this close. She'd be a very calm and static presence, so the MC would feel very safe in her embrace.
Lester likes both equally and sees no reason to only stick to one or the other. Due to his high body heat, it would make sense to switch positions frequently as to avoid overheating. In winter, it might be difficult for the MC to ever let him go again.
Thianne would prefer being the little spoon. Her reasoning is that it would be easier, since she doesn't have to be the one to think about where to position the arms, how tightly to hold the other person, and so on. Also, knowing that there's someone she trusts behind her would allow her relax more deeply.
Az'Lean would prefer to be the big spoon. He wants to be able to see the person he's holding in his arms. He'd be afraid of feeling smothered or caged in if he were the little spoon. He's not just going to let someone else's arms come in slicing distance of his throat - not even if he loved them.

Note
in chapter nine after asking Thianne and Lester about the new deity the continuation choice says “$playername” rather than actually saying the name of the player
Thanks for letting me know, I'll make sure to fix it!

I could've sworn we had the option to tell Azlean about ourselves twice, but I only found the one chance.
Well, there's always the first chance in Chapter 5, and then it depends on the route you are on. Slight spoilers:
In route A (humanity) you have to tell him in Chapter 7 if you haven't already, in route B (fae) you cannot tell him at all, and in route C you can think about telling him if you haven't already, but the scene where you potentially do hasn't happened yet (maybe that's what you were thinking of). So while routes A and B define your dynamic with him very clearly, it's really only route C that can keep that ambiguity of whether/when you should tell him the truth.

id love to know more about MC's childhood. did they always feel out of place somehow, or did they feel normal? i love the idea of their inner strugfle with their identity! being raised human and taught to fear fae, and then finding out you are a fae... it must be such a struggle and i love how their internal struggle is shown!
Great question! If we're talking about their early childhood, I do think they felt out of place then. A young fae child being raised by humans wouldn't know how to communicate their differing needs, or understand why they have them at all. Being a noble out in the country, they wouldn't have had too much contact with children their age of equal standing, so it might not have been obvious as to why they were feeling that way. Feelings like that are still internalised though.
Growing up, however, I think they got used to any differences between them and others, and were able to find common ground in other ways - like their interest in being a knight, for one thing. After being raised as a human for years, that became a solid part of their identity. Especially after meeting Vynn, who doesn't conform to much of anything if they can help it, the MC would just live with the idea that feeling out of place is common occurence - something many people go through.
I am glad you like how their identity struggle is portrayed. I feel like it's something many people can relate to - the idea of growing up thinking you were one thing, only to realise that you're another. Whether we're talking gender, sexuality, heritage, religion, or even something like interests - I think a big part of truly growing up is figuring out who we are outside of the boxes we were raised/born in.
