public libraries are so sick. there are five books I want to read and they're all relatively new so they're only available in hardback which is so expensive but it just cost me $0 to place holds on them. five books for zero dollars. it requires nothing but clicking a button and then going to the library to pick them up when they're ready. zero dollars. that's crazy

besides the music cue for the assassination, what do you think the importance of the opera specifically being nessun dorma is in rogue nation, i have my own interpretations but im curious to hear yours

lmao one: i know nothing of opera, absolutely nothing. it is not an area i have even slight expertise.

two: i uh actually know from one of the commentaries that Turandot being the opera was incidental and not specifically chosen to heighten symbolism or anything. that said, Lorne Balfe did work in some of it into Ilsa's theme just a nice little leitmotif.

but three: Death of the Author, if you had a cool thing you got from that connection, awesome.

​yes. i think the show is paced and the reveals are set up in such a way that it's intended to ease newbies into it. there is one specific plot point that is treated as a Big Reveal that honestly any fallout player will just know already.

but i cannot overstate how every single plotline was one i cared about. even when the show cut back to the main character's brother, i was invested in that. EVERYONE WAS SO GODD, IT'S RIDICULOUS.

I am FLOORED, that was incredible. That was in-fucking-credible. I can't believe how good that was.

And yes I know the Ghoul is hot and Walton Goggins was so goddamn good, and Lucy was honestly pitch-perfect and funny and I'm so happy

but also I think Maximus might be my stealth favorite. If you offered me the chance to, right now, get the entire character arc for one character, I would pick Maximus. I am honestly flabbergasted at how fucking well this show threaded the needle of WOW COOL ROBOT(SUIT) and the reality of a Brotherhood that continues to exist.

Frances Turner and Walton Goggins honestly have fucking great chemistry. I like the Ghoul but I also am really into this story the show is telling about the incursion of private R&D and tech money into every facet of life and how it swallows Hollywood whole. It's very good. This show is really good.
