How Organic Food Improves The World
Tumblr media
Eating organic means that the foods we consume are produced naturally; that is without the use of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, growth hormones, genetically modified organisms as well as irradiation. But what does this mean for our health?
Health Benefits
Organic foods contain far more antioxidants than non-organic foods. This is because these antioxidants are able to develop without the interference of harmful chemicals. One of these harmful chemicals is organophosphorus. Studies have shown that it is linked to developmental disorders such as ADHD and autism. Other than antioxidants which help protect our bodies against diseases such as atherosclerosis and cancer, organic foods have a higher percentage of vitamin c, iron, magnesium, salicylic acid, phosphorus, among other nutrients. Organic milk is one of the prime examples of the superiority of organic foods over non-organic foods. Compared to inorganic, organic milk has healthier fats, more nutrients such as Omega-3s, Vitamin E and iron.
Inorganic Farming’s Harmful Effects
Whatever fertilizers, antibiotics and chemicals are used in the rearing of plants and animals, they are the same ones that go inside our bodies when we eat these plants and animals. These substances alter our cells and make them resistant to our bodies’ natural disease fighting enzymes. By nature of the way in which inorganic plants and animals are grown, they contain many toxins that cause us to become ill and obese.  Additionally, many inorganic foods are irradiated. Irradiation destroys the vitamins, good bacteria and enzymes that are present in foods. Therefore, when we eat these foods, we’re not getting all the nutrients our bodies need.
Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs)
GMOs are organisms whose genes have been modified by having the genetic material of other organisms fused with their own. By forcing genes (sometimes genes from animals and plants far different from them) into the DNA of plants and animals, a host of new toxins and bad bacteria can be formed. These toxins are directly related to health issues and generate diseases. What is more frightening, research coming out of Canada shows that pesticides linked to GMOs have been found in the blood of mothers and their fetuses. There are several other studies that have made links between GMOs and illnesses, such as gluten disorders and Parkinson’s Disease.
There are several countries that have recognized the potential danger of GMOs, including France, Denmark and Greece. All of them have banned the cultivation of GMOs. Peru, Venezuela and Algeria have all banned not just the cultivation of GMOs, but the importation of them as well. This really shows that our health is not on the United State’s agenda. By refusing to buy GMO products, you can make a difference for you and your family’s health right now. When enough people stop buying GMO products, they will stop stocking our super market’s with them.
Saving the Environment
Other than our own bodies, organic food production is good for the environment.  Since organic food production does not include the use of pesticides, herbicides and synthetic fertilizers, there is no risk of these chemicals seeping into our soils, water and air, disrupting their nutrients and polluting our earth.
These chemicals damage the earth’s topsoil, which is where plants get most of their nutrients from. They can also contaminate our water supplies, and poison your family’s drinking water.
Some chemicals found in these herbicides and pesticides can stay in the air for long periods of time; the same air you have to breathe. What’s more is that use of these harmful chemicals intended to speed up crop and animal growth as well as get bigger yields, discourage other good farming practices, such as crop rotation and cover crops. Without proper crop rotation the soil becomes severely depleted of nutrients.
As you can clearly see, GMO is not only a direct threat to our health, it’s a direct threat to the well-being of our Earth as well. It also is invasive to farmers that want to practice healthy farming methods.
Saving Local Economies
Organic farming is very small in scale compared to industrial farming practices. When you buy organic, you are usually buying from local farmers. This is putting money back into your local economy, sometimes families that you know and associate with, rather than filling the pockets of mega companies such as Monsanto. Organic foods, because they don’t include chemicals intended to have them last longer than they should, are usually fresh and tasty. Buying these fresh and tasty foods require us as consumers to do a little research into the places you can actually find them to buy. Usually it is simple as going down to your local farmer’s market. This means you get to develop relationships with the actual farmers that grow your food.
Organic farming also promotes productivity in our local communities. With an increased demand for these foods, there will be an increased need for more organic farmers! That’s more employment opportunities for the unemployed and more money being retained in local communities.
A Little Something Extra
Even if you aren’t worried about the affects on your health, I truly hope you consider the health of others that may be unaware of America’s food crisis. Maybe they’re too young to understand and their parents haven’t been informed as you have. Maybe they are simply unaware. Please share this and other relative information with your friends and family. It’s important that we don’t take our earth for granted, let alone  destroy it.
It’s also a way to stimulate local economies and put money in the hands of people that are deserving and care about humanity and take the extra measures to certify their food organic. Just think of it as your way of doing something a little extra.

Habits of Highly Successful People that You Need to Know
Tumblr media
Have you ever wondered what makes successful people think the way they do? The people that are highly innovative see the world a little different from the average guy and they do the things you usually do differently. They are not just musicians or artists and you can find them in all walks of life. In this post we look at 10 habits of successful people.
No doubt; success in any industry goes hand in hand with innovation – the ability to think for new solutions, generate new ideas, and pioneer new products. In fact the most successful people are not those that work the hardest; they are the ones that are the most successful. This simply implies that if you are not innovative, the long hours you put in work each week may not amount to success.
People like Newton, Branson, Edison, Cuban and the rest of most successful people you know don’t have the same genetic makeup but they share some habits in common which include: habits of successful people Successful People Seek For Answers Highly successful people are curious by nature.
They don’t just accept things just the way they appear. They constantly seek to know how things work and why. They love providing answers to the most difficult questions. Giving solutions to problems is their hobby. Most Innovative people love to satisfy their curiosity and hence they put in an effort to understand things very well.
Successful People Are Persistent Being successful means never giving up on things that you know can work. They are not just full of ideas. They keep the faith and work hard to achieve their target. They don’t allow obstacles to deter them from their objective.
The saying “invention is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration” made by Thomas A. Edison says it all. Successful People Take Risks, Make Mistakes Have you ever met with a successful mind? They propose ideas that seem out-of-reason, impossible or unachievable.
Nobody believed Edison when he said it is possible to create electricity. successful people take risks and they make mistakes. But here is the difference with ordinary people; they understand that mistakes are meant to test and strengthen you not to deter you. They fail and rise up again and again. Most inventors experience many failures before achieving one success.
Successful People Constantly Look For Patterns This is the part of their habit that is also known as “Apophenia” – that is the ability to see meaningful patterns in random data. This habit can be found in the average guy but it becomes more pronounced among innovative thinkers. They constantly look for patterns and connections. They seek to know how things work, what makes them work and why they work the way they do.
Successful People Are Obsessive Note-takers Innovative minds understand that our brain can only process small chunks of information at a time. They are constantly having new ideas and hence they constantly take note each time they are struck with new ideas. When Thomas Edison – one of the great inventors died, he left behind more than 3500 notebooks. Creative minds make notes so that they can build on it later.
Successful People Don’t Wait For Things To Break You must live by mantra if you want to stay ahead and become a pioneer – successful people understand this saying perfectly. They don’t wait for things to break before they can fix it; they are constantly fixing and iterating. Edison didn’t wait for the earth to go completely dark before inventing electricity. Most innovators ensure problems don’t exist before providing an answer.
Successful People Understand The Creative Process Creative minds understand the four classic stages of the creative process which are; preparation, incubation, illumination and implementation. They always found a way to nurture each stage of the creative process by taking long showers, exercising and eating healthy.
Successful People Are Passionate What fuels the successful mind is the passion for what he is doing. Generally, innovative people have passion for whatever they are doing. successful minds work like an artist that seeks for a perfection and successful outcome. It’s from their passion that they create something wonderful.
Successful People Are Flexible Although successful people are persistent yet they are flexible. They accept change when their original plan shows signs that it cannot work. They can go with the flow when creativity strikes. Innovative people can adapt and change in order to create the best possible outcome.
Successful People Look At The Whole Picture Highly successful people look at the whole picture and predict outcomes before they embark on projects. They keep in mind what they want to achieve throughout the whole process of working on their project.
Successful people think about all the steps along the way in order to ensure that all of them will come together in the end to create the best outcome.

Home Remedies to Treat Dandruff
Tumblr media
Dandruff is a common scalp disorder and causes itching and flaky scalp which can be a cause of embarrassment for many people. Its severity fluctuates from person to person and is often caused due to dry scalp. Today I would like to share some simple remedies which are very effective in getting rid of dandruff with regular usage.
1. Olive Oil
Extra Virgin Olive Oil is very effective in treating dandruff and regular usage not only helps to get rid of it but also helps to attain healthy and nourished hair. Heat some olive oil on indirect heat and massage it on your scalp when it is slightly warm. Leave it overnight and wash it off the next day. In case you do not wish to leave it overnight then leave it on for an hour with a warm towel wrapped around the hair and wash it off with shampoo.
2. Coconut Oil
Warm some coconut oil on indirect heat and mix some lemon juice in it. Massage your scalp with this mixture and leave it on for 45 minutes. Wash it off with shampoo. Coconut oil can also be used on its own and left overnight. It will moisturize the scalp and reduce the itchiness to a great extent.
3. Lemon Juice
Lemon juice contains citric acid which is very helpful in treating scalp infections and dandruff. Prepare a mask by mixing plain yogurt with half a lemon juice. Apply it generously on the scalp and hair and leave it on for 30 minutes. Wash it off with your regular shampoo. Lemon juice can also be added to your regular hair oil and after massaging the scalp for 10-15 minutes should be washed off with a shampoo.
4. Lavender Oil
Lavandula angustifolia or lavender as we know is a flowering plant from the family of Lamiaceae. It is mostly cultivated as ornamental plants, used as an herb and also for their oil. It has many health and skincare benefits and the oil is very useful in treating itchy scalp and helps to reduce dandruff. Massage the oil on your scalp and keep it for an hour before washing off with shampoo.
5. Tea Tree Oil
Tea tree oil is also known as melaleuca oil is native to New South Wales and Queensland. It is considered toxic when taken orally but is helpful in treating many skin and scalp conditions such as dandruff, lice etc. Add a few drops of tea tree oil to your regular shampoo and after mixing it thoroughly wash your hair. You can do this treatment twice a week and will see reduction in scalp infection and dandruff.
6. Aloe Vera
The Aloe gel helps to reduce dandruff if used regularly and also makes the hair soft and silky. Scrape out the gel from a freshly cut Aloe Vera leaf and massage it on the scalpand hair. Wash it off after 30 minutes.

Tips for Acne Treatment
Tumblr media
Acne is a skin disease which is caused due to improper care of the skin. Dirty and oily skin is prone to have acne. Not only face but neck, chest and back of the body can be affected by acne, thus producing pimples. Face gets more exposure to dirt and germs in comparison to other parts of the body. Therefore more pimples are produced on the face and more care has to be taken for it. Having pimples on your face won’t look nice. To get rid of pimples some protective measures could be taken.
Here are some tips which can be followed for treating acne problem
Keep your skin clean. Always wash your face when you come back from outside. Wash it with special soap for acne. Make sure you don’t wash it harshly and also make sure that washing should be limited to say 2-3 times only. Frequent washing can increase the number of pimples on the face.
Habit of doing exercise is good for health as while performing exercise blood circulates through the whole body and delivers fresh oxygen. perspiration after exercise is an obvious thing. This collection of sweat will lead to collection of dirt and germs. This is responsible for increasing acne. So, after performing exercise you should take a bath and change into fresh clothes. This will help in decreasing the acne effect.
If you have long hair or bangs, then you should keep all your hair back. If constantly hair touches your face then hair oils will be deposited on the face. This will increase the oil content on the face and indirectly pimples will increase. So, avoid having hair in front of your face.
Avoid pricking, scratching and touching the pimples. If they are squeezed then the dirt particles will spread out in the unaffected areas. Instead of helping, this will add more and more pimples on the face and so one should stay away from doing this.
Before going to bed, remove your makeup. Chemicals will affect in adverse ways on pimples. In day time also, try and apply as little makeup as you can. If you can avoid it completely then it’s the best choice. Use as many natural things on the face as you can. Organic or mineral makeup can be a good alternative.
Non-oily lotions and moisturizers should be used. If oily ones are used, then obviously oil content will increase and so would pimples. Therefore, check the bottle before you buy one.
Diet also plays an important role in improving the condition of acne. Junk food, colas, caffeine, high-sugar content food should be avoided. Instead go with salads, whole wheat bread, oats, fresh fruits & vegetables, carrots & other vitamin A rich food. This will help in decreasing the acne effect.
Keep your body hydrated. Drinking a little amount of water will increase the dead skin cells and this will lead to dirty skin. Dirty skin will be responsible for more pimples.
Keep your skin neat and clean. This will help to reduce the effect of acne on the skin. Pimple-free skin looks beautiful and everyone will like to complement too.

10 Fitness Tips that You will Always Need to Remember
Tumblr media
Over the past two decades I’ve been interested in fitness, I’ve learned a lot.  However, I think I’ve learned more lessons from my fitness blog over the past two years than in my previous experiences.  Much of this knowledge comes from the research I do to write articles.  That being said, the questions that readers ask and experiences they share are truly eye opening.  Here are ten general fitness lessons.
1. One Size doesn’t fit all
Not every workout routine or diet program works for everyone.  Just because I’ve had success with a variety of strategies doesn’t mean those same strategies will work for you.  The strategies or programs I recommend tend to work with others but there’s no absolute certainty that they work for everyone.  For example, I like intermittent fasting to lose weight but my wife just can’t fathom doing it.
2. Consistency and effort trumps selection of a routine
I’m convinced that consistently performing the worst routine and putting in a strong effort is more effective than inconsistently performing the best routine with a lackluster effort.  This is why it’s critical for you to choose a workout or diet that you either enjoy or that doesn’t adversely impact your life.
3. Accountability
The best way to put in a consistent effort is to hold yourself accountable.  This is a big challenge.  For me, writing a fitness blog motivates me to stay in shape.  Otherwise I might give in to temptation and binge on ice cream, cookies, and other sweets on a more regular basis.  While I do have my cheat days, I always make sure to stay within striking distance of being in good shape.  My wife on the other hand likes the Weight Watchers approach, not that she needs it.  It’s foolish to me but recording what she eats and staying within her allotted points works for her.  Plus she feels accountable because she’s forced to weigh in once per week.
4. I have too many goals but they’re somewhat congruent
I think a lot of people try to train for too many goals at once.  I’m certainly guilty.  I want to be healthy, get stronger, develop endurance, and maintain a lean, defined look.  On the surface it seems impossible to train for all of these at once.  However, if I do strength training, I’ll gradually get healthier and achieve a lean look.  If I do HIIT or circuit training, I’ll not only improve endurance but also get a lean, healthy look.  Even trying to gain muscle and lose fat can be congruent in a way.  Performing strength training helps you gain muscle and eating the right diet or performing cardio helps burn fat.  Obviously if you’re looking for large gains in size or aiming for a lot of fat loss, it’s probably more effective to focus on one, but it’s not necessarily impossible to do both slowly over the long term.
5. Getting in elite shape is really hard
I’ll admit that I’m in pretty good shape but trying to take things to the next level has proven challenging.  A lot of this stems from the fact that I have an office job, family, and don’t get as much sleep as I’d like…having a 2 ½ year old who has a tendency to wake up 1-2 times per night gets exhausting.  The other challenge is that I’m not as motivated as I used to be.  I can do what I’m doing to stay in shape but I’d really like to kick up my focus and effort for 2-3 months to get in elite shape.  It’s just not a priority for me at this stage in my life.  Maybe if I was single and 15 years younger, I’d think differently.
6. Appearance is subjective
I’m a fan of getting lean but there can be a point where you are too lean.  One of my past problems has been that I have to lose a lot of weight to get the abs I want, such as when I performed my six pack abs workout routine.  The problem is that I end up looking too small in clothes, especially my face and neck.  My wife actually prefers my current look with a little extra fat.  Even though I’m 10lbs heavier and have some stubborn fat in my lower abs after performing Visual Impact Muscle Building, she likes my overall appearance better, especially in clothes.  This ties back to my prior point about being in elite shape.  These days I’m not exactly prancing around with my shirt off to show off my abs.  In other words, no one really has the chance to see how defined I am.  In fact, most people think I look better with a little extra fat because they only see me in clothes.
7. Overcomplicating things just leads to confusion
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve read a workout or diet plan and been utterly confused by its complexity.  This involves everything from performing exercises I’ve never heard of to cycling foods based on glycemic load.  If you feel overwhelmed, then just try to boil things down to the basics.  Either that or spend a lot of time and effort educating yourself.
8. Cardio is useful…for some
I could probably write an entire post on this subject.  A good number of people in the fitness industry would say that as long as you’re performing strength training, then you just need a good diet to lose weight.  In other words, the calories burned from cardio aren’t enough to justify doing it.  Additionally, the cardiovascular benefits of weight training are enough to keep you healthy.  I’d agree with this to some extent.
However, I think cardio can be invaluable in a weight loss routine.  First, let’s tackle the diet vs. cardio argument.  Most men probably don’t need cardio to lose weight because they can more easily reduce their diets.  However, take the example of a woman who wants to weigh 130lbs; she would probably need to eat around 1,300 calories per day to get there.  That’s extremely low.  Wouldn’t it be a little more lifestyle friendly to eat 1,600-1,800 calories and burn the other 300-500 with cardio?  Additionally, exercise has metabolic benefits while a calorie restrictive diet over the long term can lead to a slowing metabolism.  In Visual Impact Cardio, Rusty Moore also discusses how cardio is also effective for eliminating stubborn fat where a diet on its own may fall short.
As for cardiovascular benefits, I don’t think anything can fully replace a good HIIT workout.  It gets my heart racing a lot faster than strength training.  Plus, when I’ve eliminated cardio from my routine in the past, I always feel more lethargic and find myself getting winded when walking up steps.  Endurance is an important part of my routine and cardio can assist in achieving that goal.  Still, everyone has to decide for themselves whether cardio is worth the time and effort.
9. Most supplements are useless
I’m not going to spend much time on this.  Just be careful about what you put in your body and realize that companies spend a huge amount on advertising to convince you that their product is a miracle drug.  For more information, you can read my post on some of the supplements I’ve used: Best Supplements for Weight Loss and Muscle Gain.
10. Be happy
Finally, just get to a point where you’re happy with the way you look, healthy, and maybe even enjoy exercising or eating well.  You can only force yourself to do things for so long before your body rebels.  If you can convince yourself that you actually enjoy fitness, that will go a long toward achieving your goals.
There you have ten lessons learned from my fitness blog over the past two years.  I’m sure there will be many more lessons in the future.  Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this valuable education!
