Yaphet Kotto
Hardcore punk band Yaphet Kotto (named after the actor) from Santa Cruz was active in 1996-2005, releasing lastly in 2008. Lyrically the band wrote about social and political issues and had chaotic compositions that blended melody and extremity.

Walk Alone - The sea The sea
Emo/Screamo band The sea The sea from Ypsilanti, Michigan, having a brief existence between 2003-2004 and apparently had a reunion show in 2016 after the death of the vocalist (Tom).
You can find some of their stuff on YouTube but their 4 way split with Corcovado, Man at Arms, and Spit For Athena is on Spotify.
