Cisco Certifications 2021: Everything You Need to Know

The following is a list of the most significant changes:

DevNet has launched a new certification pathway for developers at all levels.

The CCENT entry-level certification is being phased out.

CCNA will be merged into a single certification with only one exam.

The CCNP will only have five concentration areas and will require TWO examinations.

After passing the first exam in a CCNP track, you will be promoted to Specialist.

The CCIE will require two exams: the first will be a CCNP test, and the second will be a CCIE lab exam.

Every three years, recertification will be required.

Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)

The CCNA is the exam that has had the largest impact. The Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) certification will be phased out. The new CCNA, which will certify a wide variety of core knowledge and abilities, will be offered at the Associate level. There will be only one exam, which will cover networking and security basics and automation and programmability. The new CCNA will replace these current certificates:

New Certification Track for DevNet

Cisco also launched a new certification track called DevNet, in addition to the revisions and updates. To better match with industry demands for network and infrastructure experts, the DevNet course will integrate programming (mainly with Python) and infrastructure. The DevNet track will be divided into four levels:

Cisco Certified DevNet Associate (CCNA-level)

Cisco Certified DevNet Specialist

Cisco Certified DevNet Professional (CCNP-level)

Benefits of the New Cisco Certification Tracks

There are no prerequisites to begin obtaining your associate, Specialist, professional, or expert-level certification; you can start anywhere you want, based on your existing level of skill.

Continuing education credits are offered for the CCNA, Cisco Certified Specialist, CCNP, and CCIE for recertification and continued development.

Cisco has established a new layer of 'Specialist' Certifications between its CCNA and CCNP certifications, which is likely the most significant move for all networking experts.

To begin, they have combined all previous CCNA versions into a single CCNA that will cover a wide range of topics, including:

Network access

IP-based services

Fundamentals of security

Programmability and automation

* The CCNA certification has no official prerequisites.

This shift appeals to me since, unlike in the past, there will be only one CCNA, providing you with a solid foundation in major networking technologies.
