According to the Bible, Cyrus II (600-530 BCE), also known as Cyrus the Great became the first king of the Persian Empire and went on to establish one of the largest empires in the world. He is well known for leading several military campaigns against the most powerful kingdoms of the time, including Media, Lydia, and Babylonia.
