❛ Don’t say like that is one of good Italian’s acquisitions; I feel offended. ❜ She teases him, hitting his shoulder with her own shoulder playfully. ❛ At the least, you’re in a good company. The news I have, well, I did another audition for a movie. Since my professional life is kind of struggling at the moment. Well, one of them. Being a daughter of a politician isn’t easy. ❜ She sighs deeply, shoving her hands inside of the pocket of her coat to keep herself warmer.
“Feel free to, because it’s awful,” Cameron teased her gently, eyes creasing at the corners as he laughed. “That is one thing I have, good company for the rest of my life.” It was probably one of the best things about having children, knowing that you had someone there without fail to take care of you —- all being well, anyway. “Yeah? What movie?” he questioned curiously. “You know, I could always put in a good word with the producers of my movies when they start on number two.” With the release of the first one only weeks away, it wouldn’t be too long now.

Laughing as he denied her words with a screwed up face she saw her father in him, glancing up at the older man for a second before turning back to Luke. “Okay so I haven’t won you over with the Christmas pudding, I see how it is. What would you want to put on the end of a string then? I mean if you were being made to choose something?” Too be honest she probably wouldn’t pick the seasonal dessert either but…well it was topical plus what was on the front of the card, so she’d run with it. “And what about you, what would you put on the end of the string Mr Clarkson? And it has to be based in this world, not something you make up off the top of your head like a linguistic genius.” The blonde teased.
Luke’s expression really had said it all, but he was soon involved in the conversation. “Cupcakes would be good,” he offered and Cameron found himself nodding in agreement, giving his shoulder a gentle squeeze —- it was a good idea. Kelsey’s words caused him to laugh and he shook his head, having to think on the question for a moment, not wanting to come up with something too crazy, although now she’d mentioned it, he found himself pondering. “I think I’d have to go with the donut thing, honestly,” he said in the end, laughing. “Very centred in this world.”

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐈𝐓𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐀𝐍 blonde rose a brow, putting her top hat in place carefully, without messing with her chic bun, since she was dressed as a magician, although her outfit wasn’t much good for the weather, but her fake fur coat was doing its job, and she played with her ‘wand’ between her gloved fingers absently, and skillfully without dropping it. ❛ Whatever, still not a real drink for me. Real drink is Prosecco, I’m joking, well Bourbon… Whiskey, Gin are… Not these that are too sweet. ❜ As Italian she always had to jokily talking about the 'drink’ of her country is better than others. ❛ I can relate to that, life being up and down to me too. It is what it is… ❜ She shrugged her shoulders nonchalantly. ❛ How’s the boys? ❜
"Prosecco?” Cameron had to laugh, because really, prosecco was just a cheap alternative to champagne and he’d never been the biggest fan when it had suddenly become the fad it had. “Whiskey one hundred percent is a real drink.” He usually favoured that or a glass of red wine, preferably merlot. “Best way to look at it really,” he agreed. “The boys are great, excited about the holidays, but what’s new there? I need them around to keep me on my toes.”

ameliarbennett:

It was difficult to miss how Amelia brightened up after her not so secret confession. It really was more of a compliment than anything to do with her reading behaviours…mostly. “Well…I just think it’s no good just reading them as words on a page ya know? Movies are a great alternative and yours were amazing but it’s…rewarding to work for all the little details that get thrown into a scene.” She half mused to the author. Considering he was a lover of reading too, she was certain he would know exactly what she meant. Their conversation was momentarily derailed by Jamie’s entrance, one that made her rather happy - if the grin on her face was anything to go by. Both boys were so full of personality there was certain to never be a dull moment with them around. Laughing lightly at the interaction, the nursed quipped, “Ye of little faith. They’re probably on a sugar high right now. Try again at bed time…no kid can resist a good bedtime story. And it gives you time to prepare! Nothing ventured, nothing gained as they say.”
"I do get that.” Cameron had spent much of the last year going over movie scenes for his own book, worrying over moments that had become lost and trying to figure out a way to fix them or somehow put the meaning back. Sometimes it hadn’t been possible, but he’d done his best to. With Jamie at his side now and clearly a little antsy, he knew it was probably time to wrap the conversation on and get the boys to bed, as had been mentioned —- even if they would probably be bouncing off the ceiling now. “You might be right, but we’ll see how it goes,” he answered with a speak. “But speaking of, I should probably get these two home before it gets too late.”

Avery nodded as she chuckled, “Yeah i kind of figured that out after the few things that didn’t work out as I hoped for me.” Her plans had changed a few times and not for the better. First her dad, then losing her mom to cancer and then her relationship with Cameron. Since then, she hasn’t really set any future plans in fear of being let down again.
Her gaze held his for a moment when he touched her arm. her smile becoming more gentle, soft before giving him a small shrug. “No need to thank me. It’s been years, we both have grown and i’m not the type to hold grudges. It was just one of those, not meant to be, kind of things i guess. Though it was a shock to have seen you again so it maybe was meant to be a friendship kind of thing. But you don’t need to worry. I’m not mad at you about it anymore. You got married and had two beautiful kids with the right person. it wasn’t meant for us and that’s fine. ten years ago me and now me both still believe if it’s meant to happen, it will.” she assured him.
Ave was doing okay. She couldn’t continue being upset with him for something that wasn’t written in the stars for them. All she could say now was that she was happy to see him grow into a man with a family. “Now let’s eat. Food’s going to get cold.” she said, having a seat. “Bon appetite. And if something doesn’t taste good, please tell me. I know i’m not the best cook but i tried.” she said with a laugh.
Cameron could of course understand where she was coming from. His life had taken a rather drastic turn for the worse for a while, but earlier on there had been a lot of incredibly good things. He hadn’t thought marriage was on the cards for him, and then Serena had walked into his life and took him by complete surprise. A year prior to that he’d still been living the life he’d been living when he’d dated Avery, no plans to settle down, no idea how to do serious. Things had changed, though, and he liked to think that he was a better person because of it.
As Avery spoke —- or rambled more like —- he couldn’t help the smile that crept across his features. “Maybe. Maybe not. I don’t think we can really say what this is supposed to be yet,” he answered with a soft laugh. “I’m just glad to have bumped into you again, to get another chance at something.” Despite what she might have thought following their break up, she had meant an awful lot to him, both when they’d been together and afterwards. It had just been hard for him to even attempt to let her know that once things had fallen apart. Instead it had been easier just to... not. “Ten years ago you is right to believe that,” he added.
He had to laugh at her words, as bossy as ever, so took a seat a moment later. “Well, it looks great, it smells great, so I can’t imagine I’ll have too many complaints... if any,” he said, flashing her a bright smile as he picked up his cutlery.

scarlettbraeden:
Scarlett glanced over the top of her office toward the window about then feet away. Snow was coming down hard, in big, fat flakes that shone white against the black night and stuck to the pane whenever a sudden into the building. She looked at the clock ans sighed realizing it’s almost 11 p.m. She didn’t have a family to go home to but she knew she needed some sleep so she packed her belongings quickly and she left the building. Outside she was met by the snow and wind pummeled her in the face. At least ten other people were standing on the curb, trying without any luck to hail cabs driving by, all of them occupied.
“Shit,” Scarlett muttered, buttoned her wool pea coat and wound her scarf around her scarf around her neck. “It’s going to be fun.”
"I’d give up if I were you.” Cameron had been stood there ten minutes trying to hail a cab and pretty much given up all hope now. “How far do you have to go? I was thinking of attempting the walk... or at least walking to a subway station.” He cast a glance up and down the street again, traffic becoming scarcer by the minute as the snow came down thick and fast. This wasn’t surprising, he’d seen the city come to a standstill one too many times.

“Well…thanks. That means a lot.” Grinning bashfully as someone who’s art she had so openly respected for so long gave her a genuine compliment on her own. A warmth spread from the middle of her chest all the way to her toes and the tips of her fingers as she glanced down at the little boy that was introduced as Luke. “Hey Luke, you know you have like…the coolest dad ever right?” Kelsey told him without a hint of sarcasm or joking in her voice, knowing the kid probably wouldn’t agree because it was his dad, but needing to tell him regardless. “You like that one? It’s one of my favourites too - you know how at halloween you play a game where you put a doughnut on a string hanging from the ceiling and try to eat it off with no hands? I think we should do that at Christmas too - just with Christmas pudding.”
Cameron’s response to that was a slight shrug of his shoulders —- he couldn’t possibly let it go without recognising what wonderful work she’d done. “Anytime,” he answered her, his smile bright. Then when her attention turned to Luke instead, he did the same, watching the interaction, although Luke’s reaction probably wasn’t what she’d have expected as he screwed his face up and laughed. Apparently it didn’t matter how many times people actually mentioned that to him, he couldn’t accept it, pretty much wouldn’t accept it. “No way,” was the eventual response and Cameron had to laugh. “Christmas pudding’s yucky.” Something both the boys had been introduced to by his mother and had hated it equally. “Yeah, I don’t think you’ll get him to come around to that one,” Cam offered.

Who do you wanna share a special kiss with under the mistletoe?
"No one in particular. Not really. Obviously, I'd never object if Avery was interested."

averypierce:
“Exactly. Though i do want kids of my own someday when i’m married. I’d want two or three kids at most.” She stated, grabbing the bottle of wine and pouring them both a glass. She felt a little deja vu when she explained her wants about kids. She couldn’t remember if she mentioned it to him ten years ago or not. The only other person who knew was Blake. Was this a weird topic to bring up?
Returning to Cam with the glass, she held it out to him. “Your drink sir.” she said with a smile. “Dinner should be ready..” she heard a ding. “Now sorry one second.” she rushed back into the kitchen, taking the food from the oven and the stove to the table. She displayed everything out neatly and smiled when it was all ready. Hurrying back to Cam, the smile never leaving her lips, “Dinner is served.” She guided him to the table, which was only a few steps from the living room in her small apartment. Steak, potatoes, salad and a few other little side dishes laid out. “If i remembered correctly, you like steak? I hope it’s also not too much food.” she said. She wondered if his taste in food didn’t really change over the years. Such as becoming a vegetarian or not liking something specific.
Avery seemed to go into a kind of ramble for a moment, but Cameron still found himself smiling. He couldn’t remember for the life of him if they’d ever had the conversation when they were together —- although probably not ‘cause he’d have more than likely run for the hills —- but he found he didn’t mind hearing it now. “Thanks,” he took the glass she offered him and took a sip, his smile soft. “Always good to know what you want, but I do have to warn you, things definitely don’t always work out the way you planned them to.”
When she disappeared once more to tend to dinner, he took a couple of sips from his glass, gaze moving once more around the room. His smile was bright when she came back. “Lead the way,” he offered casually, following her to the table. Honestly, he hadn’t expected her to remember much of what he’d liked after all this time, but there it was. Apparently ten years apart didn’t mean much when it came to someone you’d cared about so dearly. You simply didn’t forget. “I do,” he answered. Surprised you remembered any of that.” He looked to her, a hand coming gently to rest against her arm before he took a seat. “Thank you,” he began, “For even inviting me. I’m still surprised you want anything to do with me after the way I ran when we were together.”

“I…yep I did this.” Kelsey chuckled as she looked at Cameron, shrugging her shoulders because he was right she hadn’t mentioned that she did art but…well when he was such an amazing writer she was hardly going to admit her little hobby when it hardly measured up. “I wouldn’t call it a talent - it’s just something I like to do sometimes. Normally I use charcoal or acrylic but that’s a bit harsh for Christmas cards so I thought watercolour might be better to capture the whimsy.” Looking down at the little boy next to him curiously she waved when he glanced up at her. “Is this your son?”
Cameron had to frown at her words. How could anyone say it wasn’t a talent when they were standing there selling something that they’d made, that other people were enjoying? That would always class as talent to him. “These are great,” he assured her, taking a step closer and picking up one of the prints. “Don’t ever doubt yourself.” He’d seen a similar style in someone else's book, he’d been a big fan, so straight away it made him think. His gaze moved to Luke for a moment. “One of them, yeah,” he said. “This is Luke.” The young boy immediately raised a hand and waved.

𝐒𝐇𝐄 looked at Cam with an amused smile as he teases her, with a playful smile creeping on her delicate features. ❛ That’s not a real drink. Even though, I do like a good vin brulé. ❜ She raises the cup in her hand as if she was toasting before drinking it. She was careful for not to burn her own tongue, unfortunately she has this talent of burning it every time she tries it. ❛ So, how are you doing? ❜
Cam’s eyes widened and he laughed. “Not a real drink? Not a real drink? How can you say that?” he repeated with a grin. “Spiked eggnog is definitely a real drink. One of my favourites. So this has got to be just as good.” And mostly because his sister had spent most of her younger years trying to get him drunk off it... and succeeding, too. “I’m doing great, life has this way of doing that, very up and down sometimes.” A pause. “How about you?”

Avery shuts the door behind him and moves to appear by his side, “please make yourself comfortable. Disregard any baby stuff you see lying around. My best friend and her daughter live across the hall and keeps some stuff here when i babysit.” she explained. “Food’s almost done. Would you like something to drink? I’ve got wine, tequila, rum and any other type of alcohol if you would prefer those.” She said making her way into the kitchen to check on the last of the food. It was still wasn’t ready.
She was starting to become nervous again. The last time Cameron had been alone with her in her home was the last time she was happy with him. She remembered it all too well. They had spent the morning together in bed after a long night, made breakfast, watched tv and just sat together. Now here he was, standing in her new home about to have dinner together. Was this too soon after ten years of not talking? Did he think it was and he only said yes so she wouldn’t feel bad? Shaking her head, removing all those thoughts out and decided to make tonight fun. A fresh start to what could lead to a good friendship.
"Got it, ‘cause I do feel like maybe you would have mentioned that the last time I saw you.” Cameron cast a glance back to her a chuckled, his gaze falling for the briefest of moments on one of said baby items, amusement written all over his features. His attention moved very quickly to talk of drinks and he nodded his head, following her further into her place. “Wine’s good,” he answered her.
When she disappeared into the kitchen, he did exactly as she’d said, making himself at home. This mostly involved wandering around the living room and examining things, trying to piece her life over the last ten years together through the items in her home. It was a difficult thing to do really, it was a long time to spend apart, especially considering things were so incredibly different now. They were at different points in their lives, probably wanted completely different things —- he didn’t know.

“Just one second.” Kelsey lifted a finger towards the person who’d just walked uptown her Christmas card stall, well it wasn’t Christmas cards so much as winter themed cards for all occasions. Plus some bigger prints she’d done - not much because after all she wasn’t an artist, but since she enjoyed painting sometimes it made sense to take a stall. Even if she was a little shy about it. Giving the newcomer a small smile before turning back to the one she was serving with a bright grin. “So that will be…um…eight dollars for the medium one and then ten dollars for the pack of cards, so….eighteen altogether.” Finishing up the transaction as she placed the items into a paper bag, passing them over with a twinkle in her eye. “Happy holidays!” It was wild, people actually paying for her work. It’s not like the stall had been busy but there was certainly a steady flow of people showing interest - it was surreal if nothing else. “Hey!” The blonde greeted brightly, blue eyes meeting the other’s.
“You did this?” The question came as soon as Kelsey’s attention turned to Cameron and he smiled. “You didn’t tell me you did stuff like this...” Beside him, Luke was looking over all the different cards on offer, curious about the pictures and taken in by the designs. “Been keeping your talent a secret, huh? You realise I think this is a complete crime.” He always loved to know when people were into the arts, no matter what kind it was —- as a creative person he was always drawn to people who shared similar passions.

ameliarbennett:

Amelia pondered as to whether or not she should reply to the statement, her entire face written over with amusement when she thought of herself reading Cameron’s works. While she did not really mind destroying the image of being calmer than she really was, she did not want the author to think she was one of those weird fans. “Hmm…I think you’re really good at writing relatable protagonists and their emotions. I find myself cheering when they succeed, crying when they’re sad but the worst is when it seems like they’re up against insurmountable odds and then I… kinda just slam my book down and pace around.” Amelia admitted with a shy sort of chuckle, her cheeks turning red. “Au contraire, you made a living out of it! I’m sure they must be proud. You’re living the dream.” After having a small taste of what life could be like as a full-time designer, she was even more convinced of her words. “Well you’re hot property now. I can’t imagine it’s easy to release not one but three popular books! Guess you never know till you try.”
“Which, honestly, is the exact reaction I was looking for,” Cameron told her with a smile and a laugh. No, that wasn’t true, he hadn’t really been looking for any particular reaction from anyone, only that they enjoyed every page. That’s all he’d ever wanted since he began writing, all any author wanted, honestly. His attention shifted for a moment when Jamie suddenly ran back over and he gently wrapped an arm around the young boys shoulders. “I don’t know, what do you think, mate?” Jamie merely fixed his father with a glare, clearly not interested in the slightest in this conversation. “Well, apparently that’s the best we’re getting today.” More laughter. “That is true. A bit of experimenting won’t hurt.”

“I know this probably wasn’t what you had in mind when you mentioned meeting up for a drink?” Cameron commented lightly as they walked through the stalls. “But mulled wine still counts, it has to count!” Especially when he considered the times he’d found himself getting drunk on it as a kid and not realising what was happening —- and neither had his mother.

Closed starter: @cameronclarkson Location: Avery’s apartment
Avery quickly went over everything to make sure was going smoothly. She did a mental note check and seemed to have everything done. Address sent. Check. Dinner cooked. Check. Desserts. Check. Drinks. Check. She was grateful for Blake for making some dessert for them to enjoy while she was getting dinner ready. The table was set up along with the food and with a bottle of wine waiting to be popped open. She had some chill music playing in the background as it helped ease her nerves. Thankfully she had gotten dressed up a bit before she started cooking so she had enough time before Cameron came over. “Okay it all looks great.”
A smile spreads her face as she was feeling excited yet nervous. She prayed and prayed it will go smoothly tonight. It didn’t seem so awkward during the run in so she didn’t think it would be any different tonight but for some reason it felt different. In a good way. She had to keep in mind that it wasn’t a date, just two friends having dinner together. When she heard a knock, she quickly checked herself in the mirror so see She walked over to the door and opens it, her smile growing more at the sight of Cameron. “Hey. Come in.”
Cameron still couldn’t quite get his head around the whole situation, how he was even standing there right now. To go from not speaking for ten years, to running into one another off fifth avenue, to sitting down for dinner tonight. Did it even make any sense? He wasn’t sure. But hey, here he was, standing in front of her door and poised to knock. It took him several moments to actually build the courage to do it, although the cold was rather quickly spurring him on it. It wasn’t the kind of night to be standing around forever.
When she appeared at the door before him, his face broke out into a bright smile. “Hey!” he greeted her, just as enthusiastically. “Thanks.” A moment later he stepped into her hallway, taking a moment to absorb it all, see how many little clues he could track down as to what kind of person she was now. So far she seemed quite similar to the woman he had known in his early twenties, but ten years was a long time.
