I wandered you once for an entire week all by myself, living off cheese and baguettes, wet from your sudden and torrential spring rains, understanding then the loneliness I felt in a city meant to be wandered in pairs. From here, above, I marveled at your strange flatness while the church bells tolled. Kind friends of a friend that gave me, a stranger, a key to your homes so that I could come and go as I pleased, a kindness that I won't soon forget. I hated ferris wheels for the longest time. I would pick a roller coaster any day -- the swift, breathtaking thrill, the falls, the feeling of not knowing what was next. You don't need to invest in a roller coaster -- it's over before you know it. Now I've learned to also love that slow, dangling vulnerability. It's the kind of beautiful I fear. I'm a little bit roller coaster and I am a little bit ferris wheel, and these days that's the ride I'm looking for and the ride I want. (at Seattle Great Wheel)

Sea Turtle egg refuge by the beach and near the hotel in Cancún. The flags mark the days they were laid on the beach, and when they hatch they are brought closer to the water so they can take their first walk (crawl? swim?) into the sea. This is for their protection not so much from birds or other sea life, but from humans. Much of the living things in this world seem to need most protecting from humans. #conservewhatyoulove (at Cancún, Mexico)

1) I'm catching up and reading the current @humansofny refugee stories -- remember to be grateful, and that suffering comes in many forms and degrees. How we each suffer is not to be undervalued but there are ways you can't even imagine, from refugees fleeing civil war to that single momma you're sitting next to on the bus. There are degrees, and there are always people whom are suffering much more than you. 2) California is so beautiful. 3) how beautiful was that blood moon? (at Big Sur, California)

It's always so hard to put yourself out there. Requires a steely spine and resilience of spirit. There are lessons I really should've already learned by now. Trying to stand in the truth of that and not be overly apologetic about it. Because I am also a chance taker. I'm not unafraid, but I'll do the bold thing with hands shaking if what I can hope for in the end is magic. I'll take the risk for magic. And also, bighorn sheep! 🐑 or 🐏?
