Since your wedding, a month earlier, you’ve spent all your time avoiding Jaehyun. He’ll usually arrive home in the late evening to find you’ve already eaten, and put food away.

Perhaps the fact that you’re cooking now, instead of earlier, is accidental.

Perhaps you had an afternoon nap, and this late dinner is just chance. 

But maybe it’s for him.

Jaehyun’s heart thumps in his chest at the thought, and he walks through the house towards the kitchen. 

He pauses on the threshold. It’s his own home, he should feel welcome to any room, however, for some reason he feels like maybe he’ll be intruding. With a deep breath to regain his confidence, Jaehyun moves forward, entering the kitchen slowly and quietly.

You walked in circles around your store, making sure the customers were okay and fixing anything that was out of place. You were seven and a half hours into your eight hour shift and you were exhausted. All you wanted was some sleep. You could feel your body starting to shut down the more you walked. Your words slightly slurring from the sleep in your voice.

You took a deep breath, shutting your eyes for a moment. You could have passed out right there, if it wasn’t for the bright lights shining down on your face. The store had died down, for the most part, only a few customers still remained. You went on with fixing the shelf, refolding clothes and restocking sections. It was tedious, sure, but it passed the time well enough.

God, how much you just wanted to go home and lay in your bed, Jaehyun beside you. You would cuddle into him, your head on his chest, the soothing motions of his breathing leading you to sleep. The faint sounds of the tv would fill the silence between you. He would hold you close, gently running his fingers through your hair, maybe humming a soft melody as he did.

That would be nice.

You walked down the hall of your dorm, moving as quickly as you can just to get behind the protection of your door. You fumbled with your keys as you pulled them out from your pocket, nearly dropping them on the floor. You made it to your door, breathing a sigh of relief thinking you’d made it.

That’s the exact moment you heard him calling your name. You sighed again, this time annoyed as you turned around to see Jung Jaehyun standing in the hall. Sure, Jaehyun was nice, beautiful to look at, but he was a bit of an airhead. It wasn’t that you didn’t like him, he just sometimes annoyed you. But best friends did that.

You ran through the hallways so quickly because you couldn’t bare to look at him anymore. You couldn’t stand to hear his soft voice calling your name, wanting to talk to you. Without nearly falling apart knowing that you loved him so much. You had since the day you met him.

“sweetie, I think it’s time I take you home.” jaehyun whispered in your ear while wrapping his hands around your waist, giving you a back hug. your cheeks were warm and rose colored from the few glasses of champagne you had just drank. turning away from johnny, your drunk dance partner for the night, you leaned into your boyfriends arms. once you caught jaehyun’s eyes you leaned in for a kiss, hearing complaints from all around the living room.

“ewwwww” haechan gagged and immediately turned away. jaehyun chuckled, kissing your forehead. “y/n and i are gonna head home” he started.

“nooooooo jaehyunie” you whined, your words slurring together. you softly hit him on and chest and stomped your feet. some of the boys agreed, the rest laughing at your antics.

“cant we just stay here babyy~” your eyes glimmered with hope as you caressed your boyfriends face. jaehyun couldn't stop smiling,

god you were just so cute, how could he not agree?

he nodded, finally agreeing. you jumped up and down in celebration and started dancing again.

it was now around 2am, and you felt yourself starting to get light head from dancing so much. you look for jaehyun, finding him watching fondly you from the couch. you wobble your way over and cuddle up to him.

“jae ‘m sleepy” you yawned.

he pulled you in closer, “i know, i know. let’s go to my room, yeah?”. he rubbed your cheek softly as you nodded and leaned into his palm. you both got up, hand in hand, as you waved goodnight to the rest of the boys.

once in jaehyun's room, you flopped yourself onto his bed.

“you had fun tonight didn't you?” he asked. “so much,” you responded half asleep. jaehyun pulled the blankets up over both of your bodies, and you snuggled in closer to him. a few minutes later the room filled with the sound of your light snores. jaehyun couldn’t stop smiling as he looked at your sleeping figure,

“i love you, y/n”
