     “  STRANGE  . that sounds an awful lot like  SOMEONE ELSE  i know. ” a gentle grin spread across her lips as she turned her gaze towards her fellow ranger. chuck has always been a talented pilot ,  of course  ; he takes his duties with the utmost  SEVERITY  and  PRIDE  —— and it’s one of the things that mako admires most about him.  THAT BEING SAID  , it would seem to her that he rather likes to march to the beat of his own drum , to be  HIS OWN PERSON  . she understands that part of him. after all , no one wants to live in the shadow of their father.

      after a playful dig of her elbow into his side is duly dealt , mako proceeds towards the litter of pups , squatting in front of the little pen that keeps them contained. she’d always thought the ‘ puppies for sale in front of the grocery store ’ trope was just that —— fiction. perhaps from a time when  NORMALCY  reigned , before the opening of the breach and the tragedy that came with it. it gives her hope. maybe now that it’s all  OVER  , things can be the way they used to. “ they are really cute though , aren’t they ? ” her smile broadens , tone seemingly joyous as she rubs the belly of a particularly lazy golden retriever. “ do you think max would like a  FRIEND  ? ”
