 there’s  a  smooth  transition  in  the  air  around  her  ,  a  raging  heat  once  warming  the  back  of  exposed  shoulders  suddenly  being  replaced  by  a  cooling  shade.  according  to  the  forecast  she  double  checked  before  leaving  the  house  ,  it  wasn’t  supposed  to  rain  today  ——  but  alas  ,  the  abrupt  surprise  of  a  sprinkling  fall  has  her  quickly  taking  shelter  in  the  nook  of  a  familiar  café.  fortunately  for  minji  ,  it  was  one  of  her  very  few  favorite  spots  in  town  and  always  had  been  since  she  was  little.  a  small  town  that  didn’t  have  much  offer  ,  but  they  sure  had  a  brilliant  knack  for  coffee.  manicured  fingers  run  through  damp  dark  tresses  as  she  tries  her  best  to  style  herself  back  to  an  appropriate  appearance  ,  though  the  girl  quickly  finds  herself  stopping  dead  in  her  tracks  when  she  catches  a  glance  of  a  face  all  too  familiar.  there’s  no  way  it’s  them  ,  she  thinks  to  herself.  surely  her  brain  ,  hopeful  as  ever  ,  is  merely  playing  tricks  on  her.  they’d  left  years  ago  ,  never  once  returning  for  a  single  visit  ,  so  why  would  they  be  here  now  and  in  howl’s  coffee  of  all  places  ?  but  she  takes  a  few  more  steps  toward  them  as  they  situate  themselves  at  a  table  and  suddenly  she’s  realizing  that  no  matter  how  many  years  sit  between  them  ,  she’ll  always  know  them  like  the  back  of  her  hand.  “  oh  my  god  ,  it  IS  you  ..  ”  words  are  spoken  into  the  palms  of  her  hands  as  they  rush  to  her  lips  in  surprise  ,  minji  approaching  their  side  with  eyes  nearly  the  size  of  saucers.  there’s  a  small  voice  in  the  back  of  her  head  urging  her  to  keep  going  ,  to  say  something  else  —  anything  else  ,  but  her  heart  currently  hammering  against  her  chest  does  well  to  drown  it  out.  

tips    flip    through    plastic    coated    menu    sans    purpose    ,    already    well    aware    of    listed    items    ,    hazy    nostalgia    capturing    attention    nonetheless    .    recalls    young    mind    eager    enough    &    aching    to    taste    all    baked    goods    offered    ,    constanty    looking    over    shoulder    for    fear    that    parents    could    make    ill    fated    appearance    in    midst    of    one    cheat    day    too    many    .    lucky    escape    comes    few    years    later    ,    serving    as    fundamental    perk    paired    with    strict    prodigy    lifestyle    ,    yet    with    new    found    freedom    ,    homme    finds    self    gravitating    towards    small    town    .    though    months    turn    to    years    ,    temporarily    packed    bags    now    lay    on    front    porch    of    family    home    ,    leaving    little    room    for    looming    interrogation    &    heading    straight    for    stamping    ground    .    two    fingers    shoot    up    in    attempt    to    order    ,    posture    shifting    within    mere    seconds    &    azure    hues    widening    at    very    sight    of    easily    recognisable    figure    .    he    hops    on    two    feet    ,    extending    hand    in    hestience    ,    only    to    retrieve    gesture    ever    so    swiftly    .    ❛    long    time    no    see    ,    huh    .    ❜    despite    inner    elation    ,    words    roll    off    tongue    in    monotone    timbre    ,    fingers    wrapping    around    handle    &    drawing    nearby    seat    closer    .    ❛    please    ,    sit    !    we    haven’t    talked    in    like    ...    forever    .    ❜    flashing    tight    lipped    simper    ,    free    hand    gently    scratches    nape    of    own    neck    .    ❛    y’know    ,    that    is    if    you    don’t    have    any    plans    already    .    ❜
