If the aim was to totally and completely disarm the student, it works instantly. Although- maybe not in the way intended. In all the ways things could have gone the stranger sitting himself on the floor, right then and there, was not even remotely close to the teenager's bingo card.
"H-hey—!! What the hell are you doing??? Get up—"
Isaiah is mortified, head turning side to the side to see if the other patrons have noticed, as the child stands up. Luckily it seems no one has noticed (yet) but it hardly does anything to put the boy at ease. Despite how Isaiah tries to pull himself back together the facade has broken, and in his anxiety the teenager can't quite put the fragments back properly into place. He hovers, clearly not wanting to get close or even touch the grown up to make him move, but unable to remain seated.
"People are gonna stare- get up, seriously."
Meanwhile his pokemon whispered among themselves as they observed;
'Oh dear, he didn't like that. Should we get involved?'
'Maybe not right this moment... Lets just see what they do.'
The moment Isaiah’s tone turned harsh and bared his metaphorical teeth, N stilled completely. A cock of his head to the side, a blink; his posture shifting to give the younger man space as he simply lowered himself to sit on the floor, sitting cross legged. Nonthreatening as possible, to show that N didn’t intend to cause him trouble or inflict pain.
“I understand,” he said, to Caliburn. “I didn’t trust humans for the longest time.” And he still didn’t. Not to the same degree like others expected him to. It was better to keep himself off grid as much as possible, using illusions or disguises to simple slip through towns, cities, facilities undetected because it was faster and easier to stay safe. Life with his pack had taught N to survive the only way he knew how; with every skill at his disposal.
N’s gaze drifted away from the serperior to look at Isaiah again, “I didn’t intend to upset you, I merely thought it would be nice to give you an opening for a break.” His gaze drifted to the table, where Isaiah’s work remained. “Pushing yourself beyond a limit isn’t safe for your body. The matriarch would keep me off pack duties the minute she sniffed a hint of a cold.”
He didn’t know Isiah’s story, he didn’t understand ( or could possibly, ever ) what made him jump to this conclusion. The least N could do, in the very least, was indicate he had no intention of making any waves than he already did.

"Sooo you're giving me permission, huh?"
They both know he doesn't need it.

“……….yeah, I know.”
That’s why they’re saying it, partly.

Isaiah had been doing his best to mind his own business, had been able to stave off most of the more curious challengers through just a short remark or approving glare. Or at the least... the ones that weren't nearly as persistent as this trainer.
"Depends, is your IQ always room temperature?"
Surely she had to be getting the hint and just ignoring it. The argument that had sprung up was completely unnecessary, and totally getting on his nerves. Still... Isaiah was as hard-headed as they came.
"Am I getting through to you yet? Go away and leave me alone."
@canidgrit wants to know: "Do you always talk so much?"
"Are yew always such a cunt? Excuse the fuck outta me fer being excited, not all of us can have de personality of a wet paper bag, mate." Isn't this a great way to introduce yourself to someone. No hi, no hello, no how are you. Just straight to the defensive and insults when they comment on how much she talks. Which yeah she does talk a lot. Especially when excited or nervous. But he doesn't need to point it out!!

Nope he's not getting involved. He doesn't see it, this topic doesn't exist. Isaiah is not thinking about how he's hardly keeping things together, scraping together every little coin he can find to [barely] feed and clothe himself. We're just not dealing with it!
