honestly? even if i didnt ship bucktommy/bummy/tevan, and it wasnt canon, i really just dont think buddie will ever be canon. They’ve already made it clear eddie is straight. Any coding theyve added looks more to me like being aro and comphet then being gay (not liking women romantically doesn’t automatically mean liking men. he hasnt shown an affinity for them either).

if they were to make eddie gay or bi or whatever i think itd be difficult for the writers. you have eddies actor who isnt a big fan of the gays/doesnt want to play a gay man. theres also the fact that hes called himself straight and they would have to walk that back. and then theres the fact that the original script had eddie be the bi one but they changed it to be buck being bi. that means they made a very deliberate choice not to make eddie bi.

and all of that is completely ignoring tommy, who canonically likes buck, and who buck really likes back. they broke up, but it didnt seem like too major of an issue between them or like something that cant be talked out. given 911’s history of how they show relationship plots, i wouldnt put it past them to have bucktommy make up and get back together

it’s genuinely concerning to me that they seem to actually think that a show that’s run 8 seasons with their main guy being straight should revolve around him being ‘secretly gay and doesnt know it’. instead of focusing on buck’s actual love interest who he actually really likes? dont you want him to be happy?

and theyll act like tommy has no depth, label him as being cartoonishly racist/misogynistic for the most minor of statements that quite literally don’t even fall under the definition of those labels. its like… tommy is the only actually gay guy between him and eddie, and yet theyll slap a label of “gay” onto eddie w zero basis in his canonical background up to that point (hes even said hes straight in the show (s8e6 23:11-23:16))

also everything they say about eddie (that hes got internalized homophobia, insecurities, loves buck) is directly lifted from tommy. they want buddie, but all they write is eddie who theyve changed all the traits of to be those of tommy. like what do you want man?

and they’re the only ones who are unaware of how absolutely off the rails they sound it’s scary

they’re just clinging to that pairing bc eddies been there longer and theyre both mcs and so they wanted a gay ship. like, you can let go of buddie now? theres an actual tangible ship to look at now, one that actually makes sense.

they’re hellbent on the erasure of eddie’s past actions, and yet act like tommys make him the devil.
