unfortunately i had to travel so i couldn’t continue cleaning the bird skull. i gave it to my friend they might eventually clean it but until then it’s degreasing i guess.

12|12|2024 - update
it looks much cleaner after the last update where i scrubbed it and scraped out some dried brains. degreasing water 2 ignore the green color it’s dye in the soap i’m using but it won’t effect the color of the skull itself.
i’m actually much happier with how clean it looks now u can see a round dark spot on the left side of the skull that’s where the brains were stuck/dried to.
the beak part is broken and sensitive so that’s why i’m encasing it in resin. hoping it’ll hold up when it’s in the hydrogen peroxide which thankfully will be soon. i will have to check up on it every 5-8 hrs to make sure the hydrogen hasn’t broken the sensitive parts down fully.

09|12|24 - update
cleaning out the dried brains a little and giving a soft scrub after 1 week degreasing.
i think after another week/few days i will start with the hydrogen peroxide.
music because i was gagging from the smell ngl it was really bad after the first degrease

second find - pigeon skull
found it just in the mud exactly like that but it had wings and some other mush around it. don’t think it’s salvageable but i will still try really hard to make it something nice. the plan for it was to make it into a resin necklace because just displaying it isn’t an option. (too fragile)

first find - mummified puppies
I only took the lower jaws cause i didn’t think it was worth it but i now regret not taking the skulls but it’s ok (they were not anyone’s pets)

i was actually really happy with the finished result they were dark brown when i found them and now they are like this soft white beige and it looks great.
putting the teeth together with glue was fun it was like a puzzle
i think in general the process was a 10/10 but i did a bad job i should have preserved more like the skulls and focused more on the teeth but it’s fine for my first time cleaning bones.

turned them into a necklace and a jar display the other 2 have loops for necklaces or smth but i didn’t know what to do with them. though i might have done a frame or something like that if i had time.
gave them all as gifts for my friends got a behemoth shirt in return
