Final testing of the RX-78-2 Gundam begins at Side 7.

Already impressed by the RX-78's performance, the EFF order the creation of an even more advanced Gundam, based on the untested but cutting-edge RX-78-3 G-3 Gundam. Development of the new project is assigned to Augusta Base, where the Federation has begun its own research on Newtypes.

MIP Company rolls out the MSM-07 Z'gok.

The Z'gok's development was motivated by the poor performance of Zeon's other amphibious mobile suits while on land, and the result is an agile and aggressive design that quickly catches the Principality's attention – despite being MIP's first attempt at mobile suit production.

Satisfied with the earliest tests of the V Project's RX-78, the EFF roll out the RGM-79 GM, a mass-produceable unit closely based on the Gundam.

Though the GM's design is finalized at this time, its development is not yet complete: it is determined that combat data from the Gundam is required before the GM can enter mass-production, and the RX-78's testing remains in-progress.
