             In her office, still going through everything and trying to make it more accessible to her. GUARD CAPTAIN.  This wasn’t something she expected to become while she was here in Kirkwall.. and yet, here she was.  She owed most of this to Hawke, of course, and she wasn’t afraid to admit to this -- to thank him for everything he has done... still, he hadn’t thought that he’d come here so soon.. to congratulate her, possibly?   she hadn’t the slightest idea.    then again, he may just be here because he needs help..

            ❝  HEY,   it’s pretty late.  You should be getting home, your parents probably are wondering where you are. ❞     it’s not often that she’d run into kids during the nightly patrols she’s assigned to, usually it was night  thugs   who believed they could take over the streets because they had this foolish idea that no one would be watching the streets at this ungodly time.   UNLUCKILY for her, that was the reasoning behind why she was out here, and not in bed.

       RIGHT...    w h y.   That was the question that she was dreading that Isabela would ask, though she knew it was bound to pop up eventually. She’d still remain silent for a moment, having an inner debate to simply shove this aside and call Isabela some word, some word that Isabela taught her the meaning of and say it was NONE OF HER BUSINESS.  and yet, she didn’t do that, simply because Aveline was the one to bring this up. . .   after-all.

    “Need I remind you that I live here, in the Gallows?      My attention was required away from my office,      and now I am here, just as you are, in the courtyard.      I simply find it odd you are coming to the Gallows for      a visit when your duties usually have you at the Keep,      do they not?”

     LIVED HERE? … in the gallows?   Aveline couldn’t understand      why most would  choose to live here,           much less      KNIGHT-COMMANDER MEREDITH.                Then again, she      probably now had     a much better idea       of what was going on.      Aveline just hoped this didn’t include what she was doing here.       ❝  it does.   though my duties don’t take up all of my time, as you      probably understand.           I don’t spend enough time down here,      though I should.      Most of the complaints we receive come from      here.  ❞

A single finger was held up and pointed at Aveline. “I have. But then, inevitably, someone comes,” the finger was now pointing at herself, “and goes ‘oh Hawke, there’s bandits on the road’.” Her voice took on a high pitch to imitate whoever was asking for help. Which was no one cause no one had actually come up to her door and done that, but it seemed simply stepping out landed her in some new trouble. “’Oh Hawke, there’s a dragon in the mines.’ ‘Hawke, I can’t live I need to become an abomination this instant.’” Okay, maybe that wasn’t how it worked exactly, but it felt like it.

          ❝  You could take some of those matters to the Guard; we are good for something. ❞   Though Maker knew that they already had enough work as it was, though the fate of the city shouldn’t be placed on one woman... especially when that woman is Hawke. They may not be able to help, but then again, they may be able to completely fix the matter. At least Hawke would be getting herself in less trouble   than she currently was.

           “I was not aware you had such a friend here.             A new acquaintance, then?” Meredith inquired,             eyeing down the younger woman, air of suspicion             rising. She knew of Hawke’s companions, and how             close they all seemed to be.
