Start with some Sweet Manga
Manga: Nekota no Koto ga Ki ni Natte Shikatanai.

Mikiko starts out at a new elementary school and soon becomes interested in a boy from her class named Nekota. Not too original until you realize the boy has a freakin cat face. Yeah... While everyone else seems to see Nekota normally, Mikiko only sees a boy with a cat head. Like your average shoujo but with a refreshing twist. Sometimes it feels like these kids are way too mature for their age group but I mean its shoujo manga lol whatever.
