your vaguely awkward and socially inept vibe has captivated me

fandom is a lot more fun when your goal isn’t to be “that big, popular account” within the fandom but just to have fun and talk about what brings you comfort and happiness by the way

What are you doing? You said she didn't want to be in the room.

Write it shitty, write it scared, write it without a clue but don't you be so spineless and have an AI write fanfic for you.

Do not write fanfiction. One second you're normal and the next you're downloading a calendar from 2004 and tearing your hair out over what specific date every event in your fic happens

we share a warriors bond (we were both in the same fandom at the same time and now neither of us are in that fandom anymore but we’re still beloved mutuals)

you're not turning your fandom hobby into a job are you? giving yourself deadlines and quotas that you have to meet? focusing on the numbers instead of your enjoyment of the act of creation?
#this is what leads to burnout!#and why i stopped writing fic!#be kind to yourselves guys don't ruin a hobby#you are not designed to be a content machine

^ So I saw this post

And then these comments

Which makes me sad?
It’s already so hard to convince readers to be perceived and that commenting has value.
If you don’t want the deranged comments, please send them to me instead haha!
#listen there is nothing that brightens my day quicker than reading an absolutely unhinged comment on a fic bc someone liked it#those are the comments authors remember#and they're the ones that motivate a lot of us to keep going#fandom has changed a lot over the last few years and in a similar to how people don't reblog art and edits on tumblr as much any more#they aren't leaving comments on fics as much or reading WIPs or sharing w their friends#and i understand it's a cultural but it makes me a bit sad sometimes#people want finished fics or chapters that are churned out immediately and it seems fandoms live and die much quicker#likely due to internet attention spans and shows being cancelled so often and this weird idea that you have to keep up w the trends etc#but that kind of approach does little good for the production of fanworks#it sucks the enjoyment out of fandom#so if you want your fave fic authors and other fan creators to keep going and engage the best thing to do is engage w them#validation by comments isn't the key motivation for fic writing but being able to see that other people are enjoying what you are#really does add on to that enjoyment#be vocal about your love!! you don't have to be unhinged about it if you don't want to but leaving even a heart or an “i really like this!”#might just make someone's day

a writing competition i was going to participate in again this year has announced that they now allow AI generated content to be submitted
their reasoning being that "we couldn't ban it even if we wanted to, every writer already uses it anyway"
"Every writer"?
come on
