AEC Week 12 Qns 1
Qns 1 :  What is my ideal career and how can I work towards it?
My ideal career is office work that allows me to travel to another country. I would like to work in another country so i can interact with different people. To work towards it i had taken up the course of business administration where I can learn different aspects of how a business function. Like human resource management, finance and more. With this skills that i have learn through my diploma i am more skillful than the rest one take only a specific diploma like accountancy. Also, in the future during my year 2/3 I will try for internship to get to have a real life experience in the work life. In the past few years, i have taken some part time jobs to learn how to better interact with people and get to know more people from other part of Singapore. This giving me a better impression when i join the workforce as I am not only a student with a certificate but a student with a certificate and some working experience that maybe helpful in the future in terms of social interactions. Through my past working experience as a part timer I already have a feel of the working life, and would not have too much of a problem fitting in with the working environment.

AEC Week 5 Qns 1
What is a “good country” to me? Do I consider Singapore a good country?
A good country to me is a country where the government take cares of its people. The people living within the country live together in peace and harmony. There are no civil wars that threaten the lives of the people. There are work and education opportunities for all regardless of race and religion. The people has the right to decide the government ministers. Housing distribution is equal for all citizen. There is good transport system where people can travel to wherever they want. The technology is the up to date with the rest of the world. Clean Water and food is available to all citizen. The ability to travel to another country, the existence of a airport.
Yes. I consider Singapore a good country. Firstly, all Singaporean has equal voting rights to vote for the member of parliament. Housing , education and work opportunities are given equally to all Singaporeans regardless of race and religion unlike Ireland. Secondly, Singapore transport system is quite good as one can travel easily and can get from one part of the country to another easily. Public transport is easily available to all Singaporeans and its quite affordable. Waiting time for Public transport has also been cut down during peak hour. Thirdly, Singapore is quite save as we can walk out during the night and still reach home safely, we can walk around with our wallet in our pockets and the chances of it being stolen is very slim. Singapore has a very nice and high class airport where Singaporeans can travel easily and tourist can come to Singapore with ease and has high level of security checks on them. There are no civil wars happening like Sri Lanka.

AEC Week 4
QNS 2. Imagine Singapore’s Prime Minister as woman, Malay/Indian/Caucasian, young and/or disabled, or an immigrant. What will Singapore be like?
If Singapore’s Prime Minister is a Caucasian, I think that Singapore will not be the way it is ruled now with all the laws and regulation that keeps the peace and security of Now Singapore. Caucasian live in America with not so strict laws as now Singapore has, they live a carefree life. Carrying a weapon such as a gun is kind of normal in the US. Thus, our peace and security will be different.
If Singapore’s Prime Minister is a young, Singapore will not be so prosperous as a young prime minister may not have many experience and may lack knowledge in many areas. That is why Singapore government ministers is mostly old and experienced people. The young is not incapable of being the key leaders but because of their lack of experience in certain areas may cause some problems. Thus, if Singapore’s Prime Minister is young, he/she will often be swayed by the popular demands and will try to please the young people as a whole and neglect some very key factors.

AEC Week 3 QNS 1
QNS 1.What (mis)conceptions do I have about migration? What do I think about the Population White Paper?
Actually, i thought migration is just people from another country moving to another country because they do not like how the country works or their way of living in their country that is why they migrate. However, now i know that migration is meant when one person wants to find a better job and change their way of living and seeking better opportunities in another country.
I think i support the population white paper. As we are Singaporeans, we own Singapore. We mixture of different countries have created a name for ourselves is called Singaporeans. After this mixture, we Singaporeans have a some kind of unique features that make ourselves Singaporean, and by allowing more people to come to Singapore it destroy our unique feature. Also, Singapore is so small already, and the people in Singapore may not be up to the government expectation bus is already a lot to cause a lot of human traffic and traffic problems. Many forest are also being cleared for the people in Singapore to stay in, our culture of being Singaporeans will be spoiled if more foreigners migrate to Singapore and make a big impact with the way we are living. Singapore will then soon lose its unique feature.

AEC : Unusual Occupations
one of the unconventional jobs in Singapore that young people venture to is becoming a sneaker customiser.
An example is a Singaporean artist, Mark Ong who created his own branding called SBTG, which stands for sabotage in 2003. When he was a kid, he would collect shoes and paint amazing designs on them. He was recognised in the global market when he participated in a sneaker customisation competition on the Nike Talk Forum, and a Tokyo retailer soon ordered 72 pairs of his shoes after his victory. His brand, SBTG attracted world famous artist such as Mike Shinoda, Kobe Bryant and Joe Hahn of Linkin Park, worked with DC, Nike, adFunture and DJ Unkle. His career officially kick start when a store in Tokyo called him and ordered 72 pairs of shoes from him. SBTG was then born with Royalefam support, a designing company. One pair of SBTG designed shoes released by Royalefam nowadays can cost at least $1000

AEC : $5 Challenge
Usually during school days, i spend about $10 plus for 3 meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner. I took this challenge for 2 days only before the school holidays starts. To just spend on $5 on a day is very very challenging. As when i want to eat a certain food in any of the food courts, i would just buy without any much of a hesitation. When i first started this challenging, i wanted to buy a sandwich for breakfast for $1.50 but if i spend so much for breakfast, i have nothing for lunch and dinner. So, i just forgo my breakfast, and went for class. I stay hungry for about 4 hours, surviving on water. So, for lunch and dinner i could only spend about $2.50 each for both meals. The cheapest food in my school cost $2.50. So, i could only buy 1 plate of chicken rice without adding egg. During this challenge i felt that to live in Singapore with just $5 a day is really very difficult as everything ranging from food to clothes is so expensive. I cannot buy food that cost more than $2.50 if i want to have lunch and dinner outside. I have to give up on drinking my favourite carbonated drinks and drink from my own water bottle. I also could not buy dessert if i was still a bit hungry after my plate chicken rice. I have to really resist all the temptation to buy a can of carbonated drink. Also, have to plan the things I need to buy for every meal. I need to consider for every food i buy, which is unlike me as when it comes to food i would just buy without hesitation. Also, the challenges i face is also not being able to shop for other things excluding food, i cannot buy pens, books and clothes on the days when i took the challenge. When i went out for window shopping as I was free, i could not even buy the things I wanted and if an item is on offer in fair price. I could not buy it for my family members. This challenge really restricted me as i really could not buy a lot of things and items that i wanted, it allows me to differentiate my needs and my wants. This challenge encourages me not to eat outside much often and eat home cooked food. It forces me to bring my own water out if i am eating outside instead of buying carbonated drinks to fill my thirst. I really feel frustrated during this challenge as there are many food that i could not eat and have to buy food with a lot of consideration before buying. Also, have to see my friends eat good and yummy food. This challenge makes me more determine to work hard for the future, as i do not want to end up in the future with only $5 to spend for a day.

AEC : Made In Singapore
One of the local invention is X-Mini.
Xmi Pte Ltd is the company that created X-Mini and others. It is a technology driven company that focuses on bringing newest and most updated of multimedia products to the world. They are also able to foresee and react dynamically to the change in the market as they enter a fast-pace digital age.  Their products are unique with superior functionality, mass market and uncompromising quality. Xmi Pte Ltd is determined to push break free of the boundaries of technology, bringing new exciting products, and building a global band synonymous with innovation that will precede trends in digital lifestyle technology. Its current global network distribution is in 80 countries in North America, Latin America, Europe, Middle East, Asia Pacific and Australia.
X-Mini is the creator of award-winning mono, stereo and Bluetooth portable speakers for smartphones, tablets and other smart devices. Delivering quality sound beyond size, our range includes the CLEAR, Kai2, MAX, UNO, WE and ME.
This is one of my favourite local invention, a Bluetooth portable speakers. A Bluetooth portable speakers does not need a cable connecting to it like a normal portable speaker. The Bluetooth speaker does not need to be very near to our smart devices or laptops, it can be placed at a distance as long as it is in the range where there it can stay connected through Bluetooth. This allows it to let more people hear it at the same time.
If I was a budding inventor, I would spend all my life to make the creation of a force field possible. In many science-fiction movies, storybooks and television shows. By making this possible, Singapore’s defence and security can be improved to a whole new level. By creating this force field which does not allow any unauthorised objects to enter its area. Also, the force field can prevent any bullets or bombs to enter Singapore. Singapore would be in an upper hand when world war 3 would to happen. Also, if natural disaster strike, such as tsunami the damage can be avoided as the force field does not allow anything to enter. Once, the force field it’s made possible, an underwater city can also be made possible as the force field keeps water from coming in. Thus, if the force field is made possible, it can open up to many possibility and opportunities for the human population and the country.

AEC : GAME TIME!!!
I would like to recommend one of the board game in SP library is Monopoly Singapore edition. The monopoly can be played by more than 4 players at once. Which allows big groups of people to play together and have a bonding session. The monopoly board game is easy to play and easy to understand. As the map consists of Singapore popular attraction itself which players can easily understand and relate to. This game allows individual to purchase or invest in property, when another player enter that property, he or she will need to pay. This allows one to earn money through and strategize and which property to buy and how many houses or hotels to buy on it, to increase the amount of money each player will have to pay. The game is concluded when one player is bankrupt. Thus, try not to get bankrupt. These game teach one to save money and plan for the future ahead, also gives one an idea what to do when living in the city.

AEC : What? We kinda’ cause haze? Yes we did!
Haze is a natural atmospheric phenomenon when dust, smoke and other dirty particles come together and block the clarity of the sky. The dust and smoke accumulates in relative to dry air. The sources that fuel haze are from farming by ploughing the land in dry weather, the traffic of vehicles such as cars and motorcycles, the industry that consist the manufacturing sector and others and wildfires.
Palm oil is a common ingredient in many of our daily products. In fact, about 50 percent of our packaged food in the supermarket consists of palm oil. For example of usage of palm oil, it is used as a cooking oil, the main ingredient in most margarine, used in confectionary, ice-cream and ready-to-eat meals and the base for most liquid detergents, soaps, and shampoos. It is widely used by many products because of its great cooking properties. To support the growing demand of palm oil, there are new plantation are being developed and existing ones are being expanded in Indonesia, Malaysia and other Asian countries, as well as Africa and Latin America. With this development and expanding of plantation, forest are being burnt down for the space causing air and haze pollution.
As consumer and shoppers there are a few things we can do to help reduce this problem. Firstly, we can reduce consumption of edible oil and eat wisely, meaning that in individual’s diet, it can consists of less fried and oily food and instead of using conventional frying method, one can use the air fryer to cook as it requires less oil. Also, cook for enough, do not cook more than enough as food wastage is unnecessary and wasteful. Secondly, reduce the usage of paper by using both sides of the paper. As paper is made up of trees, using too many paper, the trees are being cut down to meet the demand for paper. This affects the environment badly. Also, support companies which uses sustainable paper, it features forest-friendly certification, recycled paper, or paper from more eco-friendly non-wood fibres. Thirdly, support companies which uses sustainable palm oil. Sustainable palm oil is produced according to a set of environmental and social criteria defined by the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). There are 8 principles and 39 practical criteria that have been placed since 2008 and these has defined sustainable pal oil production. They ensures that local farmers whether small families or communities are respected and fully taken account, to make sure that no small or big forest are cleared for the production of palm oil since November 2005. Also, mills and plantation owners minimise their carbon footprint to reduce damage on the environment.
For smart consumption for the environment, citizen can firstly reduce, reuse and recycle meaning that we change our lifestyle to reduce the impact on the environment by ditching disposable items and use reusable cutlery, containers, mugs and shopping bags. Also, purchase items with less packaging. Secondly, shop responsibly that make an impact when we choose our daily items. By purchasing long lasting and good quality furniture, buying of some second handed items such as clothes, accessories and books to reduce the need to produce new items. Thirdly, travel lightly means travelling by any form of transportation that uses fossil fuels for energy that contribute to climate change. To avoid such travel, take the public transport instead of owning a car, walk to school if it is walking distance, to save on petrol is to plan the road to take to avoid traffic jams and peak hour periods. Lastly, save electricity, use the fan instead of turning on the air conditional to keep oneself cool, off electric appliance that are not in use.
Thus, consumers and shoppers can be more responsible in reducing haze and help reduce the damage done to the environment.
