Mamoru's Apartment
Mamoru's apartment building from the 90s anime.
Tumblr media
I took so many buildings of random places in Juban because I knew I would eventually find them in the anime. As I was walking by the subway I came across this building. Definitely inspired by the building above. I walked around Juban with pictures of the apartment buildings trying to find them and I was rewarded!

Sailor Moon is a very dear anime to me, so of course I HAD to make a print for it
i've always loved princess Serenity and the moon aesthetic, really wanted to convey those yearning, nostalgic vibes with this!

"The majority of the songs for 'boy' were written at a time in my life when I was a stranger to stillness. I was constantly surrounded by people, in bustling cities, yet remained wrought with loneliness. These songs were born on planes and hotel room notepads, muttering under my breath while walking through new cities each day. The same despondency I felt years ago during the making of my first album When Facing the Things We Turned Away From still lingered... but in a different way. I was disoriented and overwhelmed by the world and my place in it. Those emotions weaved themselves through this project. The longing for more emotional understanding within myself, the isolation, grief, love, sadness and hope.
These songs are a snapshot of my inner workings and the way I see the world. They’re not intended to be consumed as autobiographical facts, but as an overly dramatic, cathartic, poetic stream of my consciousness. As if you’ve opened my diary and can only read a line from each page.
'boy' is out now. Thank you for listening.
Love, Luke"

“I have a tendency to write pretty emotionally dark things, and I didn't want it to feel like a sad body of work. I wanted it to feel in the middle of those two things and feel a bit more how life feels, trying to sum up… I don't know, being human is so — from my experience, it's so up and down and my emotions are intense in both ways from day to day. So I wanted it to feel more melancholy and ride that line."

“Getting to the end of this process and having these songs done and loving them more than the first album, I feel really accomplished and fulfilled because of that. I feel like I've found a sound, more of a sound of what it is. That's always destined to grow and change, but I do feel like it has more of a straight to the point, 'this is what it is,’ sort of feeling to it. And that's really exciting because as you grow as an artist, that's kind of what you're trying to get to.
The songs are better, I think they sound better, and I think it feels more refined, but it's also scary because it's not just, ‘We were in COVID and I made these songs.’ It's more of an intentional like, ‘OK, I'm having a bit of a swing at it.’ ”

“Coming into making these songs, I wasn't sure whether I could make something like the first album again on my own, or something I liked as much. So I tentatively was writing stuff. I'm always writing stuff, but I was like, ‘All right, I'm going to try and see what comes out, see if I can find what this sound is I'm looking for,’ and taking things from the first album that I really loved.”

Pluto being the size of Australia blows my fucking mind. It definitely helps contextualize why it got demoted to dwarf planet.

All I could think of was poor Luna. She was being used as a shield. These two dorks are so overdramatic with their crush.
