have you ever felt the irresistible pull towards a particular film, series, or visual art, only to discover that trusting that instinct filled you with gratitude? that this piece of art entered your life at the perfect moment, rewarding you with an overwhelming sense of liberation? for me, that recent gem is Ballerina on Netflix.
i'll do my best to convey the special memories and the liberating emotions this film has evoked in me.
this film project feels as if it was crafted for someone intimately acquainted with the concept of grief. it goes beyond the conventional portrayal of women and delves into a realm beyond the traditional, embracing a shadow-self—a darker, unbroken, and powerful aspect. it doesn't romanticize the need for a man's gaze for fulfillment. instead, it gracefully dances with empowerment, presenting a beauty seldom explored or acknowledged. this Korean drama thriller has become my favorite in 2023, standing out in the realm of thrillers. i highly recommend it so that you, too, can experience the powerful awakening that i have through watching it.
while i could discuss the film's inherent beauty, such as its cinematography and color palette, these aspects, though significant, only play a part in the film's overall appeal. i genuinely enjoyed Ballerina, and i encourage you to watch it and join me in appreciating the captivating performance of Jeon Jong-Seo.

kay since there ARE no posts about Ballerina on Netflix I'll just make it myself. What a baller movie. Bloody and vengeful and filled with the rage of history's women.
This is like the complete opposite of Sound of Freedom when it comes to human trafficking awareness like holy shit. Sound of Freedom makes you pensive, and morose. Ballerina makes you fulfilled and accomplished.
You sit there in tears for Sound of Freedom. You sit there in awe for Ballerina.
I didn't mean for this to become a comparison post but that's all I can think about. Two high ticket movies about human trafficking withing six months of each other with two wildly different themes. It's hard not to.
There's no way you can look at this:
And not feel something. Yes that is the very petite ensuing word "ballerina" with a burning sports car in the back ground on beach at sunrise.
And men who think it's okay to use and abuse women. You should be afraid.

My babes, if you need a good female rage portrayal that has the calm, but deadly vibe, then I'm begging you to watch Ballerina on Netflix. I loved the visuals and her inability to put up with men's bullshit.
Please, there is a flamethrower.
