Blog #6
In today’s session, I performed both my monologues and I decided to self-evaluate myself as i thought it would be a good way of being able to take criticism from others as well as myself. I personally think that I did better with my ‘Breathing Corpses’ monologue rather than my ‘Romeo and Juliet’ monologue simply because I think that I was able to portray Amy more than Juliet when it comes to characterisation. I also think that Amy as a character is a little bit comedic but meaning to be funny, whereas Juliet is more vulnerable and more naive in terms of mentality and her physical appearance. However, I think that I’m able to relate to Juliet more when thinking about her age and what she’s like as a person/character.

Blog #4/5
In today’s rehearsal, I rehearsed both my ‘Romeo and Juliet’ monologue as well as my ‘Breathing Corpses’ monologue. I chose these monologues because they’re suitable for my playing age. Also, I chose these monologues as I thought that it would be good to push myself outside of my comfort zone as well as both monologues being in contrast to each other. I say this because in Juliet’s monologue, she seems shocked and sad that Romeo has been banished from Verona. However in Amy’s monologue from ‘Breathing Corpses’, she’s a bit apprehensive with what to do with the situation after finding a dead body in a room of the hotel of where she works. I get to be able to develop both characters in different ways. I’m happy that I’m able to express similar yet different emotions.

Blog #2/3
In today’s rehearsal, I attempted both my ‘Romeo and Juliet’ monologue and my ‘Breathing Corpses’ monologue.I knew my ‘Breathing Corpses’ monologue very well. However, I didn’t know my ‘Romeo and Juliet’ monologue as well as I initially thought. I decided to keep practising them until they’re word-perfect. When it comes to my second monologue that’s from ‘Romeo and Juliet’,I think that I need to slow my words down and I also need to remember what lines are where as well as making sure that I say them with some conviction and confidence.

In the 1st blog, we chose our 2 monologues and started to rehearse them so that they are at performance standard. I chose Juliet's monologue from act 3 scene 2 of Romeo and Juliet. I also chose Amy's monologue from Breathing Corpes.
