The walking dead preference: Sensitive Reader

Rn I‘m watching the governor episodes so this only includes characters I know so far. My favorite characters here so far, you can’t request for other characters

Daryl

First you might think that you annoy him since he‘s more the rough looking kind of guy, and it’s pretty hard to read his stern face too. But truth is, he‘s secretly looking out for you ever since he learned how sensitive you are. You only realised this though when he acted upon it for the first time- he had seen that something gruesome was about to happen and hurried to spin you around so you were facing his chest when it happened so you wouldn‘t see. He‘d hold onto your wrist and have a hand on your back, before slowly letting go and carefully eyeing you with that unreadable expression of his. He‘s the first to look out for you when something happens, quietly staying by your side and wordlessly offering his support.

Michonne

Like Daryl, she isn‘t the best when it comes to comforting words but she‘ll try her best wording that you can rely on her if anything happens. First she might be a little annoyed at you being sensitive, but the more she gets to know and like you she opens up to her own sensitivity through you. Because you remind her that she is allowed to feel sad as well, and that it‘s just human to react to all these gruesome things like you do. Will check in on your personal space first before starting to put her arm around you whenever you react sensitive to something, fixating you with her eyes and asking about how you‘re feeling. She‘s the best listener, attentively listening to you and nodding once in a while to let you know that you can tell her anything.

Glenn

Is more the kind of physical comforter, because if you feel bad he has the urge to do something about it even if that just means giving you a hug. He‘ll rub your arm or take your hand, leading you somewhere private so you don‘t feel embarrassed letting your emotions out. He doesn‘t care how many times he‘ll have to do this, he will be there for you every single time. After some time of hugging you he‘ll crack a joke or say something silly to make you smile again even if it means making a fool of himself, something he‘ll only do for you. Then he‘ll suggest you‘ll have dinner with the others, engaging everyone in a nice conversation that will lighten the overall mood and make you feel more comfortable.

Milton

He is a sensitive man himself, even though he tries not to show it since people already tend to underestimate him a lot. But he will relate to your feelings a lot and be able to spot even a subtle change in your mood quickly. Even though he isn‘t good arguing with others he‘ll demand even Merle to shut it if anyone is being insensitive towards you. You give him the courage to overcome his own anxiety at times, just to make sure you are ok. Whenever you are upset he‘ll make you a cup of tea and carefully ask if you wish to talk about it, assuring you that he will understand what you are going through. And he‘ll never, never make fun of you or say that you’re overreacting no matter what you talk about to him. He‘d be too shy to hug you, only if you initiate physical contact first he‘ll hold onto you and softly brush over your hair.

Being in a polyamorous relationship with Merle and Milton would include :

-Milton and Merle both loving you so much that you’d fall for them both and have no way but to accept being theirs and them having to get along for your sake

-Merle always trying to seduce you like you weren’t already together and being touchy feely with you, purposely trying to make Milton jealous from your reactions, only to end up messing around with him and flirt with him as well, making him uncomfortable

-Milton always acting uncomfortable from both of your sexual innuendos to him and how you jokingly plan the night for the three of you, only to sometimes actually go through with it and him ending up enjoying it

-Merle making Milton promise him that he’ll take care of you and stay by your side if anything ever happens to him, only for him to accept all while being stunned by how much he seems to truly care and love you

-Milton trying to be sweet and romantic as much as he can with you, surprising you with flowers and sweet tea, only for Merle to pretend to get jealous and jokingly ask him where is his sweet surprise

-Merle still provoking Milton just to mess with him until he’d get him rilled up and start a stupid fight, only for you to be the only who knows how to calm them both down

-The three of you hanging out together as often as you all can as they both want you by their side, so they just end up compromising with you

-Merle loving to have his alone time with you as those are his moments where he can let his true feelings for you shown and known, making you fall for him even more

-Milton feeling like you get along more with Merle and telling you to go join him whenever you’d stay in the lab, only for you to have to reassure him that you enjoy as much your time with Merle as with him by reminding him how much you love him

-Merle always being the first to defend you and Milton whenever anyone makes fun of your relationship or simply bothers you as you are both dear to him

“Would you stop following me?!” Milton said with a sigh and an annoyed tone, as he turned to look at you.

To his shocked, it wasn’t you but rather Merle. The other man smirking as he stared at how nervous he had gotten and shoved him lightly for that off comment.

“The hell was that for, Milty…I ain’t following you…Just walking over looking for The Governor that’s all…”

At that, he readjusted his clothes and brushed off whatever dirt that might’ve been left from Merle’s dirty hands.

“Sorry Dixon…I-I thought it was Y/N…”

“Oh yeah…Her…Always trailing behind you, surprising not to see her holding onto your skirts this early in the morning…”

Milton rolled his eyes at that last remark but knew again it was strange to not see you in the lab yet and at the back of his mind, started to worry as to why you still hadn’t join him.

It was no coincidence that he was outside pacing back in forth to check if you were coming out and quickly turning around and walking away expecting it to be you again, as your habit of following him was.

For the longest time, you and him had a hard time getting along, mostly because of him. He had been more than pissed to learn you were going to have to work together in the lab from now on and hadn’t even bother to hide it.

He didn’t like the idea of having to share his private space with anyone, especially you it seemed. Since your arrival, he couldn’t help but be annoyed by your presence and just didn’t want anything to do with you.

Seeing how you just walked in one day to try and work around his space really irked him in the most uncomfortable ways. You were putting all his stuff in places they shouldn’t be and touching everything, he could practically call you Merle Dixon #2 at this point.

By then he was stuck with you and had to deal with you. From teaching you how to properly do things the way he does to making a proper tea for him, he had to show you everything, otherwise you were as he’d say “a nuisance”

However, as surprising it might have seemed, he had been feeling different lately with you around. Your voice wasn’t really annoying as he’d say or think it was, your eyes that looked back at him weren’t something he hated but rather something he actually got shy from staring at them for too long. Your constant presence around him during the day wasn’t as cumbersome as he made it out to be and now he was actually desperate for you to come out of your room.

He just felt empty without you and realized that his hatred for you was nothing near that at all, in fact he was more infatuated at this point but just didn’t admitted to himself.

A mere thirty minutes had passed since your usual hour to meet up with him and already he was freaking out and looking for you.

He didn’t like the idea of you being late, thinking to himself only one thing could be keeping you so late, the company of another man in your bed. It had been like that for a few days now and his worries just kept getting worse.

Looking away from Merle, he quickly told him about their leader’s whereabouts but clearly seemed distraught as he looked into the distance to see if you had walked out yet.

“Well if you’re looking for him…He’s right in his room…”

He stood by awkwardly and kept his gaze towards the distance, obviously looking through the small crowd to look for you.

Merle eyed him up and down and knew something was bothering and just had to be nosy about it.

“I figured…but you know what…The real question is…The hell you doing still out here…At this hour shouldn’t you be inside and working…”

Having been caught off guard, Milton nervously came up with first excuse in mind, hoping to dissuade him from further questioning.

“I-I just got out to get some supplies.”

Merle wanted to laugh in his face for that poor lie but opted to simply frown and point out the obvious until he couldn’t take it.

“I don’t see any on you…”

“I-I was about to go get something to eat…”

“You were walking in the opposite direction!”

“I-I was-”

“Cut it out, Milty! You waiting on your little pet aren’t you?!”

At the mention of the words “Little pet”, Milton was shocked and blushed even more at the idea of others associating you to him that way. Backing away, he shook his head and tried his best to sound confident.

“No! I-I’m just getting ready to scold her! She’s late again!”

Shaking his head in disbelief, Merle inched closer and noticed how Milton kept avoiding his gaze, looking down to the ground all while being beet red. He scoffed and groaned at the sight, knowing exactly as to why he was acting up.

“Are you blushing? Goddamn it Milty! You love your little pet, Y/N, don’t you?! Here I thought, you hated her! But no you’re just acting up because you don’t know what to do?!”

“No…She’s not my pet…and I don’t like her…”

“Yeah, you sound really convincing with that tone of voice…”

Eyeing him again, Merle just had the urge to bother him even more and knew he had to screw around just to get a true answer from him. Crossing his arms and backing away, he grinned smugly and added, “But you wanna know why she’s late? She’s in my room…”

“W-what?!”

A complete change of attitude from him, clearly indicated as to exactly what Merle thought, especially as he was now grabbing onto him by his collar. Getting his hand off of him, easily, he scoffed and taunted him.

“See! I knew you couldn’t take it! You really do like her! Come on, admit it! If you don’t admit it i’ll just make her mine then!”

“No! F-Fine…I do like her! I like her! I like Y/N a lot! I like my little pet Y/N a lot! You happy now!”

“What?!”

At the sound of your voice, the two men stopped and starred at you wide eyed and shocked. Did you heard him right, you thought. He liked you? That was a first. For so long, you were sure he hated you at this point and was growing tired of having you around.

You were just ready to ask The Governor to dismiss you from your tasks but here he was just screaming at Merle, that he liked you. You didn’t knew what else to say or do but quickly you found yourself being dragged over by Merle.

“Hey?! The hell are you doing, Merle?!”

“You working with me today! Milty wants to work alone!”

He walked at a fast pace and wasn’t even listening to anything you or him had to say. However, subtly, he turned to look over his shoulder and mouth out to Milton and ended it with a wink or rather a bunch of winks.

Staring at him just walk off into the distance with you, Milton frowned but figured out as to what Merle had just “told” him. He got nervous at the thought of it and hesitated on whether he should or really if he even figured it out right.

He sighed and quickly rushed inside to get to work.

As you sat in the car, you looked over at Merle and wondered as to what was going on.

“What was that all about?”

“Hm? Nothing…”

You rolled your eyes to hear him pretending to be clueless and knew he was covering up something. “I’m serious Merle! What were you both even talking about…And don’t try to hide it, I know it has to do with me…He kept screaming my name…”

He simply smirked and shook his head, “You ain’t got nothing to worry about sweetheart…Just sit back and relax ok…”

As you’d try to press on, he’d simply brush you off with some of his comments and odd behavior as usual. By then you spent the entire day scavenging for things, you didn’t even knew you needed but simply followed along for his sake.

When you both came back, a fellow friend of yours rushed over to you and once again dragged you over, this time towards the lab. Once there, they simply dropped you off and let you walk in on your own.

To your surprise, when you opened the door and walked in, you saw a dinner table set for two. In his white blazer, Milton just stood behind it and stared at you wide eyed, not knowing what to say.

You looked back up at him and just as him didn’t knew what to say. Slowly, you got closer and took in some hints as to what was happening from how fancy and rather romantic the setting was.

“Y/N…”

“Milton?”

Once again, you had both spoken at the same time and for once, he smiled at it. Embarrassed about what he’s going to say and do, he closed his tight and nervously fidgeted as he tried to get closer to you as well.

Swallowing hard, he said, “Y/N..I-I just want you to know…That I-I don’t find you annoying at all…well at least not for while now…I actually like having you help me…It…It really helps me to get through tough days…”

With enough courage, he opened his eyes to look at you and continued, “I-I’m sorry for treating you the way I did…Do you think you can forgive me?”

As you looked at how soft and gentle and actually nervous he was, you knew you couldn’t hold any grudges against him. You let out chuckle and smiled at him for how far he went to tell you all of this.

“I guess I can…You did went this far for me!”

At the instant, you smiled, he felt an urge more than ever to just kiss you and without thinking, reached up to cup your cheeks and quickly press his lips to yours.

It stunned you so much, you stayed still unflinching but to your surprised so did he. It wasn’t a deep kiss or him trying to move his lips or anything, it was a simple chaste kiss and was clearly enough to get him nervous and trembling.

He pulled away slowly and just started apologizing. “God, i’m so sorry…”

Not wanting him to worry so much, you tried to hold onto him and reassure him.

“No, no, it’s fine! I-I liked it…”

His attention then only seemed to focus on you and for once he finally looked you in the eyes, maintaining a strong gaze.

“Really?”

“Yeah…”

“You mean it?”

As you nodded, he got red and started to rub the back of his neck.

“Well…T-This is embarrassing but…You’re actually my first…”

You smiled to hear him and couldn’t resist to pull him in for another kiss and didn’t hesitated to show him how much you had actually liked him.
