And now: a snippet from TEC Book One: ​ “Uh,” said Alec. “Can you fly a hot air balloon?” “Of course!” Magnus declared. “Did I ever tell you about the time I stole a hot air balloon to rescue the Queen of France?” ​Alec grinned as if Magnus was making a joke, but Marie-Antoinette had actually been quite a handful. “It’s just,” Alec said thoughtfully, “I’ve seen you try to work your own DVR, and it wasn’t pretty.“ He stood to admire the balloon, which was entirely glamored. As far as the humans sitting on the Eiffel Tower were concerned, Alec was solemnly regarding the open air. “I’m hardly going to crash the balloon into a chimney,” Magnus protested. “I’m considering how to protect you if we crash the balloon into a chimney.”​ As he moved past Magnus, Alec stopped and pushed a wayward lock of hair off Magnus’s brow. His touch was light, tender but casual, as if Alec did not even really realize he was doing it. Magnus had not even realized his own hair was in his eyes.​ ​Magnus ducked his head and smiled. The idea of being protected was strange to him, but he felt like he could get used to it. He used his chair as a step and climbed onto the swaying platform. The moment he planted both feet on the floor, it felt as if he were standing on solid ground. He offered his hand. “Trust me.” ​Alec hesitated, then accepted Magnus’s hand. His grip was strong, and his smile sweet. “I do.” He followed Magnus, vaulting lightly over the railing onto the platform. They sat down at the table, and the balloon, bouncing like a row boat on the choppy ocean, drifted away unseen from the Eiffel Tower. Seconds later, they were floating high above the skyline as the sprawl of Paris expanded in every direction as far as the eye could see.

Things show fans need to realize before shitting on the books/going into the books just to hate on them.

City of Bones was written in 2005, published in 2007 and was one of Cassie’s first ever books. It’s not going to be some masterpiece and should not be held to the same standards as books (or a show) written today. (though ever shtv writing is questionable) 

Clary is a 15 year old teenager at the beginning of City of Bones whose mother was just kidnapped, found out her whole life has been a life and was turned up side down. She’s afraid, she’s gonna act out, she’s gonna act irrational and be a scared, bratty kid. AND. SHE. HAS. THAT. RIGHT. 

Alec, Jace and Izzy have been raised in a world where they expect children to grow up and fight, where they’re trained to be soldiers (it’s more true in Jace’s case). They’ve been raised to not like mundanes or downworlders (it’s not who they actually are, but its a product of their raising). Children in general pick up on their parents actions and beliefs. THEIR. PREJUDGES. ARE. NOT. THEIRS.

Jace was literally raised to be a solider, he’s gonna be closed off and an ass to those he doesn’t know or trust. In cob, Jace saw his father murdered in front of him when he was ten years old - that’s gonna fuck up a kid. Jace is an emotional abuse survivor, he had a fucked up childhood, he was never loved properly until he might the Lightwoods. Cut him a break. He was RUDE TO EVERYONE WHO WASN’T ALEC AND IZZY. 

Simon is Clary’s best friend and she mostly hung out with guys all the life, she doesn’t know how to act around girls. She’s not gonna know how to act around Izzy (and Clary only ever called Izzy a bitch when Simon was in trouble). Same with Izzy. They are two girls who have never had a girl friend and Clary almost could have gotten Jace killed when they first met her,so as far as Izzy knew, Clary was just a stupid mundane sticking her nose where he doesn’t belong. 

Alec is a closeted gay teen living in a homopobic society, he’s scared and acts out when Clary throws it in his face. He was also raised to be a solider, he was raised around people who could take a hit/throw. In the moment when he was scared and frightened, he forgot that Clary has no training/is basically a mundane and he IMMEDIATELY regrets that decision. 

Alec is also an 18 year old who had never been in a real relationship, was insercue, being manipulated by a vampire and was in a relationship with someone who wasn’t open about his past. 

Simon is a teenager who’s nerdy as fuck and never had an actually relationship before. Excuse him for not knowing how to act/seeing signs. Also he never cheated anyway but.

All the characters are immature, teenagers with the books start but none of them stay that way.

I didn’t think I was going to wind up writing a post about this because usually I find that ones that have been going around suffice, but I’d like to address this specifically in light of the fact that the bet neutrality tag has started being automatically unfollowed, and share some information that will help those who are interested in protecting net neutrality.

1. Don’t be a dick to the politicians who are still saying no to net neutrality– in written letters nor on social media. It makes you seem petty and certainly does not further the cause in any sense. You have to remember that you are addressing a human (albeit, probably a little out of touch) and consider what you’re saying and how it would sound if you were in their shoes.

2. Don’t use neutrality bots, at least Ajit Pai has started ignoring them entirely, and I imagine the others are probably going to follow suit. You are best off hand-writing a letter to the representatives from an email account that includes your full, legal name. Even if it’s something short– make sure you research and make points about why ending net neutrality is NOT going to benefit them or the policies they stand for.

3. Include a few personal reasons why ending net neutrality will harm you personally, or if you own a business, how it will negatively affect your business.

4. YES, YOU CAN EMAIL REPRESENTATIVES IF YOU ARE UNDER 18, in fact, it’s one of the few ways that minors can actively get involved with politics in the country. In fact, please do, sometimes hearing from younger children and teens can help to swing representatives– it helps to keep in touch with a younger generation.

5. If ending net neutrality does wind up happening– DON’T LET IT REST, continue to petition, speak, and resist it through legal means. It doesn’t always work, but the more kickback that representatives see to a vote can also influence their opinions on how they may vote if it comes up again.

6. Reblog posts that you see that don’t advocate the use of bots and that spread factual information about what’s happening. Which, guess what, means source checking your info of what you’re recovering. I CANNOT stress how important this is.

So you may still be asking why net neutrality is so important, which, I suppose is fair. The best answer that I can give is to do the research yourself, so that you have direct information, but I will give you a few reasons as to why it’s so important to be involved: -Content creators, including artists, musicians, writers, etc will be impacted because internet providers can choose to charge extra money to use sites which host their art– meaning self supporting artists will lose traffic and visibility. -Companies can limit our access to sites via pay walls and slow speeds, which can make it harder to contact family and friends in other parts of the country and world. -Low income households may struggle to fund internet use, and many will lose it entirely. -It inhibits the creation of jobs in internet based ventures because it is harder for companies to fund and advertise– especially when companies can choose to exclude them from their searches. -You could lose access to certain browsers without paying for them. Ex: Yahoo, whom is owned by Verizon, may force you to pay to use browsers that are owned by other companies– such as google and fire fox. -You may have to pay to use services such as steam, iTunes, google play, dropbox, google drive etc. -Unemployment will rise because job searching websites may be placed under a pay wall. -Homeless housing, libraries, and other free Wi-Fi establishments may no longer be able to provide internet because of the price jump. -College tuition may jump in price– and instead of the funding going towards better housing or facilities, it would need to be used towards functional internet because of how much of today’s schooling requires the use of the internet. -This could lead to a decrease in safe spaces for many people, including but not limited to– LGBT individuals, people of color, assault Victim support groups, and groups coming from certain political views. -Many countries may look at the political process in the US with Net Neutrality and be influenced to get rid of it there as well.

… and I’m sure there are a lot more I haven’t thought about or read about. Please spread this information if you can, it does matter a great deal.
