For my final keepsake project, I have created a piece inspired by Keith Haring. The painting includes four mini paintings labeled as fighter, leader, creator, and dreamer. I kept it simple, so I did the figures in black, and the background on all of them is pink. This art piece was inspired by 2 art history lessons, Keith Haring’s street art, and feminist art. This art shows how women play many roles, including being a leader, a fighter, a creator, and a dreamer.

Street art homework

For my street art piece, I created a walking heart character that has stretched out arms, long legs and very happy smile! Keith Haring’s art is always vibrant, simple, and always has this happy energy. I chose to do this piece honestly just to make someone smile since that is what Keith Haring focused on with his work. My heart character has big yellow boots and long red arms. I also made sure my heart character had a huge smile.

Earth Art

The Easter bunny is a widely recognized symbol of renewal and rebirth. I chose this shape because it is Easter tomorrow so I wanted to do something in the Easter spirit! I used small rocks to form the shape of a bunny head with long ears, just in time for Easter tomorrow! The bunny also symbolizes spring time because I know we are all getting sick of this New York weather that changes seasons everyday.

I chose this pad advertisement . The original phrase said “ Leaks happen. Oder shouldn’t” I wanted to take that and change it up a little bit and show the symptoms that women are facing during their period. I put multisymptom and bloating on the advertisement I made because yes, there is bloating during your period but there is also multiple symptoms. I also chose to put the word woman because we are the ones going through it. Finally, I chose power through because we need to toughen it out for the few days we are on our period.

‼️Warning‼️ flashing lights! Do not watch if you if flashing lights effect you!

For this project, I bought LED lights that had different modes and customizable modes. I went through the mode options that they had on the app already and didn’t like them for this project. So I decided to make my own mode. This still has the flashes of color but it is slower. I really like what I made because as it changes colors it leaves a really unique shadow. I also did this around 6:30 in morning so it would be dark in my room which made the lights glow and stand out more.

For my arte provera project, i decided to do a water bottle Jellyfish. I found this water bottle and plastic bag around campus. I had the paint already from previous projects.

Homework: Pop Art Fun

For my art piece I decided to do a plain simple background because I really didn’t want the background to be the main focus of the artwork. One of my magazines is a magazine all about high protein meals and the recipes on how to make them. The big words in the middle of my art piece that say “ HIGH PROTEIN” are from part of the title of the magazine. I decided to put those words in the middle of the artwork because I wanted it to stand out and show what my artwork is capturing. I then cut out all sorts of high protein meals that were in my magazine. At the bottom of most of the pictures I included the name of the recipe, and every name of the recipes has at least one protein in the title. I really think they help individual behavior because it gives us ideas for high protein meals all in one magazine and there are many people who are on these kinds of diets so this can really help them.

For my abstract painting, I decided to do a sun print with different colored beams. For my digital one I did on Snapchat with the drawing tool. I had a very hard time getting the lines straight and perfect as well as making sure the colors don’t overlap. For my painting on the other hand, I was able to use a ruler when drawing the line which made them straight. I was also able to make sure the colors didn’t overlap. I really like the painting because I felt more in control.

Assignment 3: I chose to inspire my piece off of Caitlyn and Keegan’s art work. Both of theirs has a lot of nature and greenery and in my magazines I saw a lot of greenery. With all the pieces of greenery cutout, I was able to make a collage with them. In Keegan’s and Caitlyn’s artwork they both used blue and yellow so I decided to incorporate those two colors into it as well.

For assignment #2, I chose yellow and purple for my complementary color background. For my background I used watercolor. My outfit is titled Rodeo Chic. For my outfit, I included a cowboy hat, a bow and flower for the shirt, tacos in each hand, jeans, and 2 pairs of earrings for the shoes. Overall, I went for more of an aesthetic look.

The album I chose is a dual album that fit together like a puzzle. It is called “Growin’ Up and Gettin’ Old” by Luke Combs. My favorite song from the album is also the name of the album which fits perfectly with the storyline of the album itself. I chose this because I feel as a senior, I am reflecting on my time through childhood, teenage years, and now into the young adult stage. My artwork deceives my version of growing up and getting old just like the two albums that fit together of Luke Combs times growing up. On the left describes my home in Buffalo and my childhood love for playing outside. The right describes my current life at St. Bonaventure and the house I live in Allegany.

My favorite song from this album is Wide Open. I took inspiration from the diamonds in the middle of the original album cover. I wanted to turn the heart into the sun and still do a sunset over the ocean. I used color pencils for everything but the fire above I cut out from a magazine as well as the dolphin and mountain range.

This picture is inspired by Kane Brown’s mixtape volume 1. My favorite song from this album is “ Be Like That” by Kane Brown featuring Swae Lee and Khalid. This is my favorite song in this mixtape/album because after my last relationship/break up happened, I always listened to the song because it shows the two emotions I was going through during this break up, which were, “ I miss you” and “ I’m better without you”.

In the original cover, it had a cassette tape and palm trees so I knew I needed to include those into my version of this album. I decided to do the beach part and snowman made of sand because it represents how my mom and I decided that we needed to go to Florida to get my mind off the break up even though I still listened to this album on the beach. I decided to put the cassette tapes in the water area because it looked more aesthetic than in the sand.

Hello, my name is Carly. I am a Junior here at St. Bonaventure studying Elementary Education. I plan on doing my masters in speech pathology. I am from Victor New York just outside of Rochester.
