Wolf Song 🐺✨🐢

I like to believe wolf yokai have a deep, mystical connection to the Moon & Stars. This ancient bond is shown through their star-flecked fur.

Sköll sings a traditional song for Leo about bonding to the stars! I imagined for the hug, both Sköll and Leo couldn’t sleep well, so they sought comfort in each other and Leo at least fell asleep in the warm coziness of fur. In the show, I noticed the turtles have a huge heat lamp in Down With the Sickness EP, and since Sköll is a literal walking furnace, it’d make sense for any of the turtles to find comfort and warmth with him partly because of that.

Also Leo n Sköll are besties so that explains that too

Social Bonding

Sometimes Sköll licks Leo’s head when they’re hanging out solely on social instinct.. Leo says he puts up with it but he lowkey enjoys the attention lol.

Wolves are known to indulge in behaviors such as nose pushing, jaw wrestling, cheek rubbing, and facial licking! Often the mouthing of wolves is a friendly gesture, until teeth are involved— then it’s.. not so friendly.

I like to think that because Sköll is a form of wolf yokai, that wolf yokai in general share these types of behaviors that feral wolves in the wild would display. They can mimic wolf sounds, have heightened senses, incredible strength and speed, amazing social skills (for some.. at least. Sköll? Not so much—), and have impeccable night vision.

This time, however, Raphie walks in and finds it oddly adorable but funny. And trust me he becomes a victim to the social bonding too at some point!💀

I was inspired by @somerandomdudelmao and the heart-wrenching apocalypse au to finally dig up this old comic idea I had. Came up with it months ago after making this post.

The rest of the pages will be super sketchy to get it out faster, but it ended up being longer than I planned. So multiple parts it is.

Leonardo wakes up Sköll after another one of his nightmare episodes. He often has terror dreams that feel too real and involve often times his abandonment as a pup or his death in the arena. Thankfully, he has Leo to pull him out of those dreams… He sleeps on a pile of blankets Leo set for him in his room since Sköll had nowhere else to go after escaping Big Mama’s arena.

Sometimes, he wakes up violent, but will become self-aware as soon as he sees the stripes.

(They are not a ship they’re best friends/brothers :] !) Wanted to draw a fake screenshot of them! I love them so much and I have more doodles and scenarios planned out w the brothers n Sköll as well

Introducing Sköll 🐺🔥

His given name is Astraois, after the Titan god of stars, planets, & the art of astrology.

Sköll was sold off by his mother to Big Mama as a means of being an “investment” due to his rather intimidating abilities to both produce and manipulate fire at such a young age (8 years). His parents were in a life-long debt to big mama, but after he was born and his mystic abilities were revealed, Big Mama offered to clear their debt in return for him, and she even stated that she would PAY them to take him off their hands for herself.

She saw potential in him.

His parents accepted without hesitation, but Sköll was fierce and stubborn, and didn’t go very willingly without a fight. When she had sent her guards to take him, Sköll injured one with burns, and bit the others hand. As backlash, the guard struck at Sköll out of anger, and a scar formed over his eye shaped oddly enough like a crescent moon.

He was feisty, reluctant, and angry under Big Mama’s care. Often times he wouldn’t listen to her, refusing her trainers and “gifts” for him.

The day he cracked it had been about 3 months into being within her “ownership.” She had decided that force and bribes wouldn’t work on the firey yokai; so instead she used manipulation of the situation. She had sat him down in her office, waiting for him to show some sign of nervousness under her hardened gaze. When she caught it in his eyes, she had outright asked him what was the point of fighting for a family who didn’t want him— when she clearly did. She asked if he really wanted to go back to people who were quick on selling him to her? That his parents didn’t want him; feared him, but that she was not afraid.

This revelation had hit home for him, and he felt himself finally break, giving into tears that he fought for a long time.

After that conversation, he had given up and allowed himself to become the champion she wanted him to be. With years of intense training, fighting, and focus, he would stand at one of the Hidden City’s best warriors in her arena.

He was never allowed to leave hotel or arena grounds, and only had one day out of the entire year to roam freely (but never topside.

It was during one of those free days that he had met Leonardo, saving the turtle mutant from a gang of sphinx yokai he managed to somehow piss off with a rather insulting one-liner…

He’s reserved, soft spoken, and often finds solace oddly enough in fighting his enemies in the ring.

Eventually, during his time getting to know Leo, he is convinced by the blue clad turtle to escape and be the writer to his own story.

He's 17!
