I haven’t used tumblr in a hot second but tht post i made defending the sh2 remake a year ago aged so well now tht the game has come out and turned out to be really good lmao

so another sh2 remake trailer got dropped and unsurprisingly people are upset about it focusing on combat. like, i saw a tweet that was along the lines of “did people forget there was combat in silent hill 2” and like….yeah….that’s kinda how some people on here and twitter are acting. i don’t think having one (1) trailer be solely focused on combat means they’re turning it into resident evil, like sh2 had literal BOSS FIGHTS in it, combat has always been a part of the game. we also knew it was not going to have fixed camera angles anymore, how else are they supposed to tackle combat other than an over the shoulder view? and how is james holding his pistol a certain way an actual valid complaint, that honestly just seems like being negative for the sake of being negative to me. like, he literally holds his pistol the way he did in the original.

i have my own gripes about what we were shown and mostly agree with people (the combat looks jank and needs polish, there needs to be more polish overall with textures, the button mashing prompts are really abysmal and should be removed) and i think we should be skeptical given the dev’s track record. i think ppl have a right to their opinion and how they feel about the trailers, especially since sh has not been in a good state for a while. but it’s becoming unbearable trying to keep up with any news because of the amount of needless nitpicking over every single thing. i feel like no matter what state this game comes out in everyone is going to hate it no matter what lol, like what’s even the point? just cancel the game tbh

im back and thinking about mk1 bi-han and how like. dog-coded he is. as in dog biting the hand that feeds it-coded. as in machine girl’s lyrics “NOT YOUR DOG. WON’T PLAY DEAD. FUCK THE HAND, AIM FOR THE NECK”-coded. he is. attack dog turned on it’s master. disobedient and rebellious and finally snapping. i love it actually….

Does anyone remember Mortal Kombat X?

You know, that game where Hanzo learned from Kuai Liang that Bi-Han was innoccent and the first thing he did afterwards was betraying all of his allies, including Kenshi, the man who trusted him enough to let him train his own son? Remember how he doomed Liu Kang, Kitana, Jade, Nightwolf and Jax to an eternity as revenants just because he couldn't wait a little longer for his own selfish revenge?

Don't see anyone calling him evil for that, but Bi-Han betrays his allies, doesn't doom anyone to a life as undead slaves, yet he's being called evil by everyone and gets blamed for Sindel's death that he had absolutely no involvement in whatsoever? Sure sounds like hypocrisy to me but no one seems ready for that conversation.

Trust me, this is in no way hate towards Hanzo. He had his reasons for his actions and so does Bi-Han. Neither of them are good people but both are amazing characters. The only difference is that one gets the chance to redeem himself no matter what and the other gets screwed over by the narrative each and every time he even makes an appearance.

And now here comes Mk1 doing both of these iconic characters dirty in different ways and neither of them deserved it.

Also kind of makes me wonder if Liu Kang has some sort of personal issue with Hanzo and that's why he made Kuai Liang Scorpion in the new timeline. He literally took everything from Hanzo. It doesn't even seem like he has any powers or abilities that make him stand out anymore. Only further proof for Liu Kang's pettiness if you ask me.
