FANCAFE TUTORIAL - HOW TO LEVEL UP ON THE BTS FANCAFE (2018 MOBILE ver.)

Hello everyone!

So, I’m assuming you’re on this post because you want to know how to level up on the BTS fancafe, and you’re in the right place! This tutorial is for people who have already made a Daum account and have subscribed to the BTS fancafe.

If you haven’t already done this, download the Daum app and you can follow this tutorial → https://vote4bap.wordpress.com/2017/08/20/tutorial-how-to-make-a-daum-account/ to make an account. (This is not from a BTS fanpage, but the tutorial is just on how to make a Daum account and it’s easy to follow!)

So, once you’ve made your account, make sure to take note of what your Daum ID is and what your fancafe nickname is, because it is important that you know the difference between these two.

Make sure you follow the fancafe nickname rules:

I’m going to tell you right now, this is not a really simple process and requires quite a few steps, but the point of the fancafe is that it’s only for BTS fans, so a little bit of effort is necessary if you want to see the posts!

DISCLAIMER: I don’t speak Korean and I’m not an expert or anything on the fancafe, but after 2 weeks of following multiple tutorials and being denied and then finally getting accepted, I got the hang of it and wanted to make a detailed and simple to follow tutorial for armys :)

PART 1: Finding the level up board and questions

Once you have joined the BTS fancafe, you should find yourself on the home page. Press on the three lines in the top right corner to display the list of boards. Scroll all the way down to the “5th ARMY” section and click on the board that is indicated in the picture below:

This is the level up board. One of the first posts should be a post from BTS_STAFF and has a link attached. Click on this post, and then click on the link. The link will then take you to the week’s questions

NOTE: The level up period is from Friday until Sunday (KST), so the new questions for the week are posted every friday at 12am KST.

There are many twitter accounts that post weekly translations of the questions, so a quick twitter search should allow you to find those. Questions 1, 2, 5 and 6 are the same every week and questions 3 and 4 change weekly.

PART 2: Answering the questions

So, once you’re able to find the level up board and have a translation of the week’s new questions, it’s time to put together all of your answers.

For question 1, the format is always Full Name/Gender/Age/Country/Daum ID

For gender, use 남 for male and 여 for female

For country, you can write your country name in korean if possible, but it’s not necessary

Make sure you put your DAUM ID, not your fancafe nickname

For question 2, the answer is always BTS’s debut date, in the YY/MM/DD format.

For questions 3 and 4, make sure you read them thoroughly and make sure you know exactly what you’re looking for. Most of the time, these questions are based around song lyrics, Bangtan Bombs, BTS Episodes and Vlive videos. The answers shouldn’t be too hard to find, but you will need to set aside a few extra minutes to gather all of the answers you need.

NOTE: Answer questions 3 and 4 in Korean, including member names. Also, pay close attention to when the YY/MM/DD format is needed for dates and when the YYMMDD format is needed instead (yes, the slashes do matter)

Once you have all your answers for questions 1-4 ready, write them in your notes. You can format it any way you like, but the simpler the better. Here is an example of how I formatted my answers for last week’s questions

1. NAME/GENDER/AGE/COUNTRY/DAUM ID

2. 13/06/13

3. 1) 김남준

2) 140514

4. 1) 블루 카펫

2) 951230

3)윤기

Make sure you look over your answers a couple of times to make sure all of them are correct!

PART 3: Streaming proof

Questions 5 and 6 in the level up application pertain to streaming proof.

EDIT: Because BTS have a new title track out, the streaming proof has changed from DNA to FAKE LOVE. Follow the same rules, except for streaming sites it should be passed the 3:50 mark and for YouTube, past the 5:00 mark.

Question 5 is for FAKE LOVE streaming proof on a streaming website. Apple Music or a paid Spotify account should be fine if you don’t have Melon or another Korean streaming app.

This streaming proof requires a picture of FAKE LOVE playing on your streaming site. The song must be past 3:50, can’t be on pause, and the song should be liked/favorited if possible.

FOR ANDROID USERS: Take a screenshot of the song streaming with the notification tray pulled down. The date showing at the top MUST be the same date you are applying to level up. Then, add a watermark of your FANCAFE NICKNAME on top. Here is an example from the BTS staff:

FOR IPHONE USERS: You have to take a picture of your phone while streaming the song with a sticky note placed next to it. On the sticky note, write:

등업신정

YY/MM/DD (MUST be the day you’re applying)

Name of streaming site (ex. Apple Music, Spotify)

Fancafe nickname

Here is an example from the BTS staff:

NOTE: If your fancafe nickname is in lowercase letters, the watermark should also be in lowercase letters (same for uppercase letters) or else they’ll tell you there is a nickname mismatch.

Question 6 is the second streaming proof, which is the FAKE LOVE official music video. For this, take a screenshot of the FAKE LOVE music video at the end of the video, not paused and make sure that you’re subscribed to ibighit and that you give the video a thumbs up. Then, watermark your fancafe nickname on top. Here is an example from the BTS staff:

Once you have these two pictures, you’re ready to submit your application!

PART 4: Posting your application

Now that you have your answers for questions 1-4 and your 2 streaming proofs, go back to the level up board and click on the bottom right button that says “Write”.

Click the gear icon in the bottom right corner and make the post “secret”.

Now, paste your answers for ONLY questions 1-4 in the space provided and click “Post” in the top right corner.

Once you see your post show up on the board, click on it and then click “Comment”. In the first comment, click on the camera icon and attach your first streaming proof (streaming site picture). Make sure you click on the lock icon to make your comment secret as well.

Once you have posted this comment, repeat again in a SEPARATE comment with your second streaming proof (FAKE LOVE mv). Don’t forget to lock this comment as well!

Your application is now submitted. Your post will eventually get lost among all the posts, but if you ever need to refer back to it, you can click on the search button in the bottom left corner and search your Daum ID to be able to review it.

After posting your application, go through this checklist to make sure everything is okay:

Are your post and comments private/secret?

Are your two streaming proofs in the right order and in 2 separate comments?

Are there any typos in your answers?

Are your streaming proof pictures clear/legible?

Does the date on your sticky note/screenshot match the date your application was posted? (TIP: try to post your application early and go back the next day, search your name in the level up board and make sure the post date matches)

If you notice you made a mistake, feel free to delete your post and do it again. You can delete and repost your application as many times as you need as long as it’s within the application period and by the end you have only submitted one application.

PART 5: Getting accepted/denied

You WILL get a response telling you whether you’ve been accepted or denied. If you haven’t received a response it means your application hasn’t been reviewed yet so avoid trying to apply again until you get a response.

Once you get a notification, the app currently has a glitch where it won’t bring you to your post, so you need to go back to the level up board and search your Daum ID as before.

If your post no longer shows up, it means you have been accepted! (Check the FROM:BTS section and see if you can click on the posts to confirm.)

If your post shows up, click on it and you will see a comment from BTS_STAFF telling you what you did wrong. Here is a list of translations of possible mistakes you could have made:

If you don’t see yours here, take a screenshot of the comment and use the camera function in the Google Translate app to get a rough translation of what it says. Don’t be too discouraged if you don’t get accepted, the staff are very picky when it comes to the applications and you can try again next week!

PART 6: Once you’re leveled up

You can find posts from BTS in the FROM:BTS section and you can turn on notifications so you know when they post!

The BTS staff also post things in the BTS Episode section like exclusive pictures, member birthday posts, etc.

At this level, there are still some things you are unable to access because some of the content requires a paid membership, so take a couple of minutes to navigate and see what kind of stuff is on there!

Follow the fancafe rules ~

Remember, BTS do read comments here so please do NOT post anything inappropriate including vulgar things, don’t ask about other members on someone’s post, don’t talk about how you can’t understand/ask for them to speak in English/another language, don’t spam the comments, don’t talk about other artists, etc. This is a positive space for BTS to communicate with ARMYs only, so make sure it stays that way!
