What is #ExorJosh:

ExorJosh is an Until Dawn head canon/AU that I came up with that is more of a possible post-game scenario . It is continued after one of the canon ending where, Josh turns Wendigo. In this scenario, Josh gets captured by a team of private investigators that was put together by Josh’s rich parents who are desperate to save their last surviving child. Once he is captured, his parents put him through every possible medical treatments to ‘stabilize’ him thinking that he is suffering from some sort of a neurological illness in combination with an unknown viral infection that’s causing his physical deformity. This is because he already has a history of severe mental illness. However, when they run out of options with all the negative results, they resort to an exorcism. Not by a christian method but through a Native American method. They are able to come to this decision due to their high interest in, and past dealings with, Aboriginal culture(<-this is a canon) in combination with the word-by-word police report of Josh’s friends and from reading the dead-wendigo-hunter’s diary that was retrieved from the remains of the lodge basement.(by one of the investigators) While it’s not for sure whether the exorcism fully rid Josh of wendigo spirit, it appears to be a success and Josh regains his consciousness. However, he is extremely weak from the months of deterioration/treatments and the physical deformity is clearly evident around his mouth and right eyelid. He gets the basic treatments (skin-graft, etc) to re-construct his right eyelid and to close the wide gap on his left cheek but he refuses to get any more cosmetic surgeries out of the guilt of causing so much medical expenses to his parents. (Evident  from his in-game dialogue that Josh is not just a spoiled rich boy but financially conscious enough) Even after the exorcism, it takes a long time for Josh to recuperate physically and mentally and he has to stick to a specific diet and slew of medications.  Eventually, Josh’s mother contacts Chris and Chris is the first friend for Josh to re-unite with. Then, despite of Josh’s newly developed anxiety, Josh is able to re-unite with Sam as well with the support of Chris.

Logic Behind #ExorJosh:

In this section, I’ll expand on the logic behind this AU. If there are any more questions, please ask me and I’ll add explanation to this part of the posting.   *** If you’re very invested and protective of any other 'Josh-survives’ scenarios, I DO NOT recommend you to read beyond this point. My intention is not to destroy someone else’s fandom branch but to explain why I came up with #ExorJosh the way I did to people who are interested.

Continued from the possible game ending where Josh gets possessed 

while considering these points below: - There are no clean cut rules to the lore of Wendigo other than the fact that it is often believed to be some sort of curse or spirit possession. - I found some vague writings on both successful and failed exorcism of Wendio.   

So I think there is a great room for survival scenarios like this while keeping it relevant to the official cannon.

I imagine that Josh’s parents would do everything in their power to salvage the last child they have left. They probably won’t tell Josh the whole truth but I think he is smart enough to put things together and have a vague idea about Wendigos and his cannibalism.

As for whether Josh is completely free of Wendigo or not and occurrence of occasional violent fits is yet to be imagined.

Some  ExorJosh  Headcanon Ideas.

I’ll be off from tumblr for about a week due to work but here are some head-canon ideas and infos on ExorJosh I’ve collected, thought of, and received. If you want to write ficlets or bits of ideas on ExorJosh, you don’t have to follow these but it might interest you.   Also, Thank you to those that are mentioned in this post for sending me interesting ideas.   Related comic posts: [ #ExorJosh Master Post ] =========================

Some FACTS/CANON:

Josh’s father is a movie mogul. Thus Josh dreams of following his father’s footsteps in becoming a film producer, making him very knowledgeable about special effects and movie props. Josh became very close to his sisters due to his father becoming too busy with his work. Josh made a [Remembrance Board] for his sisters that says, ‘never forget’  (this broke my heart) Josh was diagnosed with a mental disorder(either schizophrenia or BPD ) back in 2006 (age11) with multiple re-occurring ‘incidents’ Josh is skilled at drawing. [Josh’s drawing] Chris is fully aware of Josh’s need for psychiatric medications even though he doesn’t know the extent of how much, and the details of [Josh’s medical treatments.] on exorcism: While there are no clean cut rules to the lore of Wendigo, each Native tribes have very distinctive beliefs regarding this lore. There is something called ‘Shaking Tent’ ceremony with in Native culture that could potentially be part of Josh’s exorcism. I need to do more research on this but it is a ceremony done to call upon the ‘higher beings’ in order to get help or cure the un-explained illness or to fight off evil spirits.

Limited coverage for mental health: Even with the free-health-care in Canada, The Canadian Health Act does not cover treatments by a psychologist or psychotherapist unless the practitioner is also a medical doctor. Which means, Josh’s medical costs are likely to be fully out of his parents’ pocket.

My Thoughts:

 I wanted Chris to be the first to find out about Josh’s survival since he is the best friend who closely stuck by Josh even after being aware of Josh’s mental disorder.(People are often horrible towards mental patients without understanding.) 

Due to the tremendous amount of medical bills (psychiatric and wendio treatments) that Josh has caused his parents, I imagine that Josh would feel too guilty to ask for cosmetic surgeries like multiple skin grafts, and full teeth implants even though it is available to him. I think for now, he would endure living with only the first mandatory skin graft that was done to close up the gap on his mouth area and to repair his right eyelid. This would have scaring and possible discolouration but functional. (Also, I personally find heavy scars visually appealing)   

It would probably take a long time for Josh to be himself again even though he tries to ‘Josh around’ here and there with a bit of awkward results.     

With all the in-door time that he spends away from public, Josh could do a lot with his interests towards movies and visual art(esp drawing). 

I think Josh would have to be put on a puréed diet(aka. babyfood) for a while after he got exorcised due to the injuries with-in his mouth and due to the poor digestion from all the physical and mental trauma.

    (Regarding this, It’s interesting to me how Josh’s schizophrenic/BPD symptoms would go in combination with these spiritual hallucinations. If the residual memories continued even after the exorcism) 

Wendigo are spirits/demons/creatures of starvation.  The most common story told about them is of people being snowed in and forced to resort to cannibalism to survive. It’s entirely possible that an instance of wendigo is an instance of possession.

The whole issue is that a bunch of people pissed off the mountain and released the wendigo spirit of the mountain. why would it even bother to work off the mountain? no mountain spirit gonna ditch it’s home mountain. I reckon if someone was to remove a wendigo from the mountain the person would revert back or die And the wedigo would fight back crazy hard. Imagine them gettin josh off the mountain. hannah could of been saved.

This idea would definitely help with how they managed to successfully exorcise Josh away from the mountain. As milkminority said, Hanna could’ve been saved if she was found and taken away earlier in the process of transformation like Josh was at the end of the game.. but as we see her in the game now, I don’t think her damaged body can survive exorcism.

Josh is prone to be light sensitive some days and have bad days. Chris happily gets black out curtains and works around those days. They set up a panic room just in case so Josh feels safer living with people again and in control. They make it work cause they are best friends first and understand what they both went through.

This is quite sweet <3 Chris would definitely do everything he can to lower Josh’s anxiety.

@silverheartlugia2000 also asked about other little quirks Josh might have now post-exorcism. (Anything different about his senses, posture or behavior? Make any odd sounds?)

This are some great points to think about but also, I have yet to really thought out whether Josh is fully free of wendigo or not. I do think incidents of violent fits or panic could make some very interesting story events. 

as for physical quirks, I think that could be very cute and I might do something on it but feel free to write or draw stuff as you imagine.

Parents will do anything to save their child even if it seems crazy. (Josh used to be close to his dad)

My idea for ExorJosh head canon is that, Chris is the first one that hears about Josh’s survival after the exorcism.

According to the canon, Josh’s parents already had trouble with the Native tribes of the Blackwood area(a letter in the main lodge) and they have interests in native American Myth and Legends (their book in upper cabin). Also, with the possibility of the hired-investigators retrieving the dead-wendigo-hunter’s note book (from the basement untouched by fire) for Josh’s parents, I don’t think the exorcism is a difficult thing for them to resort to especially after trying everything medically possible first.

Hi, You might know this already but on Tumblr, re-blogging and re-posting are not the same.

Re-blogging is when you click the re-blog button from the original post or re-blogged post to bring the image to your own blog. Which automatically displays the source of the original poster and thus, the original poster can keep track of who’s sharing his/her art. This is what you should be doing on Tumblr because it’s respectful to the original poster.

Where as re-posting is if you were to save the image/art you like on to your computer and then creating a brand new post with it. This is a bad thing to do on tumblr even if you don’t claim/steal the art as your own because the original poster can’t track how their creation is being spread and also because you have an easy alternate option to re-blog instead of re-post.   Now, this unspoken rule of re-blog/re-post only works on tumblr and you don’t have an option to re-blog something from tumlbr directly to other social media sites (example: facebook, twitter) In this case, the polite thing to do would be to send a note to the original poster by using the “ask” function and ask for permission if you could post their work on your site that’s on another social media site. If they say yes, then be sure to indicate the link of the original post when you’re making a new post with that art. If it’s a case where, you want to directly add something to the a pre-existing image(ex: add a quote, make into collage), make the modification and use the re-blog function to show your modification of the art, OR you can ask for a permission from the original poster and include the link to their original to your new posting. At the end of the day, it’s about showing a respect to the artist/poster by leading the audience to their original site/source. Deku's dad headcanons ramble (MHA/BNHA)

Updating my brother on the manga (no spoilers here, don't worry) and I just thought:

What if Izuku's dad is just a normal guy, working hard in some foreign country, sending home money to his lovely wife and watching his son grow up through phone updates and such (he may or may not have been able to catch the sports festival live on TV or online if he's on a site cut off from the outside world)... just to turn on the TV and see HIS ONE CHILD fighting for his life in a LITERAL WAR, just GOING THROUGH THE MOST TRYING TO SAVE THE LITERAL WORLD.

Imagining this man stuck on like an oil rig or private island, some jobsite he can't physically leave, talking to Inko like "I heard when you said he suddenly got a quirk, when he got into UA (we knew it was his dream), being mentored by his idol, breaking up his bones, getting REPEATEDLY attacked by villains... AND NOW THIS?!"

Him on the phone with Inko watching the coverage of the (current) big fight in real time...

Then me and my brother spiraled into (this is mainly crack going forward):

Imagine Deku's dad finally getting back home after everything and just beating the fire out of everyone involved 🤣 Just a line of people getting the fatherly smackdown, starting with the withering skeleton that is All Might. "YOU PUT THIS ON MY SON!" And poor Izuku like "but Dad, I wanted this! I chose this!" Only for Mr. Midoriya to shout back, "You were FIFTEEN! HE'S THE ADULT, he should've known better!"

We imagined Bakugou's dad trying to calm him down, only for him to catch smoke for Katsuki bullying Izuku when they were kids until Mitsuki steps in trying to smooth things over by admitting she's the majority reason her son was such a terrible person...

Enji approaches trying to use his stature (and possibly the fact of Mr. Midoriya's absence) to get him to cool off only for Mr. Midoriya whirl on him, "OH, I heard about YOU. I may have been absent but at least my son didn't become a STRAIGHT UP VILLAIN!"

O.O I just remembered this man breathes fire😆😆😆 Full on daddy dragon rage only quenched by Inko and Izuku's gushing waterfall level tears.
