The Psych Diaries
141 posts
This is the record of my life in certain terms of psychology. I relate everything to my past and present which may seem to contain past mistakes which I have overcome. I mention the struggles and also the stuff that helped me "get over" everything that had led me to that point in my life. DISCLAIMER!!! I can't say that I no longer feel the things I used to, but I have thought long and hard about the things I have experienced.

You cocky little...........
Together with hindsight bias, over confidence can us to overestimate our intuition. In bowling tournaments, this can cause someone to ruin their entire game. They become so confident in winning in the first game that when they fall behind, it ruins the entire tournament. They lose focus and it causes them to upset. In my past experiences I have seen some cry, yell and even kick a wall out of frustration because the confidence effected them to a point of no return.

A B C or D?
In school we have many surveys that take us out of class. At that point in time, I'd rather be in class. A technique involving a self-reported attitudes of a group of people usually by questioning a representative random sample. With using the information the surveys collect all sorts of information on drugs, sex, and illegal activity. Some even ask about grades, but everything together it turns into a race of who can finish in the shortest amount of time. In my opinion they're useless because I know many people don't answer honestly.

The Connected World of 2025
A recent report from Pew Research Centre looked at the future of the Internet by the year 2025. Over 1,800 experts weighed in on the survey with the majority agreeing that by 2025 the Internet will be so entrenched in our everyday lives and environments that it will become “like electricity”.

You poor student teacher.
If you have experienced a student teacher, you have probably acted differently towards them. I know that I may have taken advantage of their "newness", but some overestimate their power in the class room. They have to  observe the students and describe the behavior, but they can't explain it. The naturally occurring class room settings take a different setting when the student teachers step in. The student teacher or any observer cannot manipulate the situation, but they try to control what is happening. The task of naturalistic observation is important when learning how to take on a classroom for yourself.

Gluta-wait!
Ever eat Chinese food and get a headache? You may have eaten too much glutamate. That happens when my mom and I eat at a place like foody goody. Monosodium glutamate can cause major migraines or seizures. That is why some avoid it. Because glutmate is a major excitatory transmitter it has a high effect in a short amount of time.

Hypo the llamas
Dripping sweat is either very satisfying or disgusting. Either way your hypothalamus is telling you to cool down. The hypothalamus maintains eating, drinking and body temperature. By keeping you cool it allows the body to not over heat and not die. It may feel like that at the time, but it allows an opportunity to survive. The hypothalamus also helps govern the endocrine system with the pituitary gland and is linked to emotion and reward as well in pleasure and sexual function.
