Before he could respond with I guess, he was drawn into a hug.  Anyone who knew Cassidy knew he was not much on physical affection.  Yet, with Cassandra it felt natural as he placed his arms around her.  With the gentle kiss along the side of his face, heat spread across his cheeks.  Which surprised him, he never got bashful before but then again he was in the process of changing.  Cassidy shrugged, not much caring where they went.  Although he was eating better, he tended to just eat the plainest foods.  “Wherever you want is fine, I am sure I can find something I will eat on the menu.”  He smiled. “Excuse you pancakes are life, it is actually one of the few foods I know how to make without messing up.  And I have to say they are way better than Dan’s pancakes…okay that is a lie but still they are decent.  Really I am cool with any place.  What are you in the mood for?  There are several places in the area.”
There was a bit of resistance when she first pulled him in, but he quickly hugged her back, relaxing into her arms. When Cassandra moved back, she saw the flush of red over his face, her eyebrows rising in a questioning manner - but she didn’t say anything. Was it because she had done it in front of other people? Lord knew he’d seen her completely naked, so it wasn’t like a little kiss should do him in. Climbing into the truck, she let out a laugh at his reply, turning to give him a look as she fastened her seat belt. “Mm, pancakes are your life, maybe. I think waffles deserve a top spot as well, at least if we’re talking about breakfast foods. Otherwise, all food? I think it’s gonna be a win for steak.” Maybe someday Cassidy would be up for sharing a good old-fashioned steak and potatoes sort of dinner with her, but she also didn’t want to get her hopes up too high. For now, she would settle for him eating more than he had been. As she started the truck and glanced at the time, she figured most of the restaurants would be mostly clear of the lunch crowds. “How about that little sandwich shop over on Decatur?”

“Oh, you caught me.  I will put in a good with Santa.  But do go around letting everyone know I have an in with him.”  For some reason, Beau felt overly concerned for Cassandra lately. In many ways, he considered her a sister.  Although admittedly he had a better relationship with the brunette next to him than he did with his own siblings.  “As long as you know, I would never judge you for anything.”  At the mention of Alex, he shook his head.  “Sadly, I think all of us have conflicting schedules. Plus, I am sure he is trying to spend most of his free time with his girlfriend, which I don’t blame him.  Guess, I’m the only single one left with too much free time on his hands. Especially with the summer.  But I would love to do a guys’ weekend when everything starts settling down.  It has been too long.”
Tumblr media
Cass pantomimed zipping her lips shut with a very solemn look before the facade was broken with another grin. "Glad to hear it. Lord knows I need all the help I can get in that department!" She could try to hide how difficult life had been at times over the last several months - hell, the whole last year really - but there was no point in trying to play off anything but the truth for Beau. He was one of her dearest friends. "I know you wouldn't, sweets. Just feels like talkin' about it doesn't really do much good most of the time, y'know?" It felt pointless to discuss the things she couldn't change, but she did appreciate his willingness to be there for her. "I dunno, you might be surprised. She's got her own business, which seems to keep her pretty busy a good chunk of the time. You should give him a call sometime. Pretty sure bakeries are always busy on the weekends."

Outside the meeting, Cassidy shook hands with a few people and talked momentarily with them.  Although he did not consider them friends at the current moment.  The few people happened to be a small support system outside the meetings.  Something he desperately needed lately.  Saying his goodbyes, he looked over to see Cassandra against her truck and he could feel that fluttering his stomach.  She looked beautiful as always and he felt the urge to walk up to her, grab her by the wait and pull her in for a kiss.  Instead, he just approached her and offered a smile.  “Hey,” he replied back.  “It was good.”  Talking about meetings with other people outside of those who attend and Lacey seemed odd.  Not because he didn’t want people apart of that aspect of his life, but it was hard to explain for those who didn’t go through addiction.  “Just been getting to know a few people more.”  Cassidy could feel the uneasiness between them.  Neither knew how to act with the other.  Their last encounter was tragically beautiful and it only added more confusion on how to be around each other.  “Did you want to eat at the diner down the street still? Or somewhere else?”  He questioned hoping to move past the awkwardness.
Tumblr media
It was nice to see Cassidy interacting with people from his meeting. He hadn’t ever mentioned any of them outside of the meetings, but Cassandra was glad he had at least started to get to know people. It meant he was connecting with people - people who could relate to him on a level that no one else could. “That’s great!” she replied honestly, finally reaching out and pulling Cassidy into a hug. He felt good. He’d finally gained some weight back, and while he was still nowhere near where he probably should be, she couldn’t feel the bones pressing against her while she held him close. With a kiss on the cheek, she finally pulled away and gave him a soft smile. “You know me. Anywhere there’s food, I’m happy. Is there anywhere in particular you wanna go? Or any type of food that sounds good?” She bumped him with her shoulder playfully before heading back to the driver’s side of the truck. “You have finally branched out from pancakes, right?” Cassandra was only teasing him, but since he was still probably as picky as ever with food, she wanted to give him the chance to choose where they went.

It was only a matter of time before Dan would be out of jail, Cass was sure of it. She spoken some with Adriana when she’d reached out to help the woman with whatever she might need, and was elated to hear that there had been some progress with the woman’s father. She hated the thought of her friend being behind bars, not only because she cared about him, but because she cared about his family, too. It was difficult trying to keep a balance between being there for Cassidy and not interfering with him, knowing his focus needed to be on his kids and his family at the moment. She was surprised when he’d wanted to hang out, but she was also grateful for the opportunity to see him, no matter how briefly. Once Cassidy’s NA meeting was over, she was already waiting outside for him, leaned up against the passenger door of her pickup truck, doing her best to look casual rather than showing just how happy she was to see him again. “Hey, you! How was today’s meeting?” she questioned, pushing herself away from the door, debating whether to hug him or not. @cassidy-bolton

Hearing Rydell's voice, Cass poked her head out of the stall of the horse she was grooming, a smile creasing her face when her friend stepped into view. She was pleased to see that the horses, for the most part, reacted the same way they would to any human visitor; a sign her intensive attempts at training were working. The scent of a werewolf or a shifter would still have them on edge, but once they were able to see that the scent was coming from something human shaped, they were starting to calm down.
"Well, hey there, stranger," she drawled once Rydell was closer, her eyes lit up with humor. It had been awhile since they'd had a chance to do more than shoot a few texts back and forth, but she certainly didn't hold it against her friend. They both had responsibilities and a lot going on, especially with Dan being stuck in jail wrongfully. Cass was trying to be there for Cassidy, but their relationship hadn't ever truly been stable at the best of times. "What brings you around to my humble abode?"
Tumblr media
So, Rydell had been kind of a shitty friend lately. And she had so few friends in the world that the fact she had been one to one of the only ones she had? Well, shit, it was pretty damn screwed up even by her standards. In all fairness a lot had been going on in New Orleans as of late. But perhaps that was an even better reason for Ry to get off her ass and actually be a friend. Go see Cass, see how she was doing, make sure that everything was going fine for her. Hell, she had even seen Alex more recently than Cass and as much as she like her friend’s older brother? She had known Cass first and knew Cass better. It was pretty shitty of her not to check in on her more often. Something she decided to remedy the second she had some free time.
The Wilson home wasn’t her favorite place if only because horses didn’t seem to like werewolves all that much. Animals were smart and they could usually sense the predator hiding deep within. Not that she ever had any intention of hurting a horse, of course. Least of all one of theirs but that didn’t stop the animals from sensing what was living inside of her. And she supposed she couldn’t blame them for being frightened. How could a predator not be scary to them? Still, the brunette drove out to the stables and parked in a familiar spot, closing the door behind her as quietly as she could and made her way towards the barn, her nose guiding her more than anything. Shit, if Cass wasn’t in the know that definitely would have been weird to say out loud. “Now, I seem to remember having a friend who lives out here in these parts,” the werewolf called out as she approached the building. “Wonder if she’s still around.” @cassandraxwilson

beau-mccallum‌:
“My apologies darlin’ to shatter your world when it comes to elves.  We do not make toys in the North Pole either. Although I will say J.R.R. Tolkien got it correct.”  Of course, the blonde was teasing the woman.  Still, Beau always enjoyed viewing himself as one of the elves in the man’s stories.  The way Cassandra spoke about her grandmother, made Beau miss his even more. Though the woman had been gone a few years now.  “She sounds extremely wise.”  While the two were supposed to be fishing, Beau hardly fiddled with his pole as they talked.  It had been way too long since he made an effort to be around his friends.  “Glad to hear that Miss Cassandra,” he commented with a soft smile before finishing his beer and reaching for a second one.  “One more thing you know if you ever need me I would be there for you right?”  Beau knew she had Alex and he was a wonderful brother, always supportive of her.  But he also knew Cassandra was tied with the younger Bolton and trouble always seemed to follow him around.
Tumblr media
"Oof. And to think I've even made sure to be good around you, just to get in good with Santa." Cass shook her head in faux disappointment before letting loose the giggle she was holding back. She did have to agree with Beau, though. Of all the fairy tale elves she'd heard or read about, Tolkien's version fit the best. He may not be able to flit through the trees undetected, but he was tall and elegant with fine features and piercing blue eyes. He could have easily gotten a role in any of the movies without any CGI or makeup needed. She hadn't gotten much of a nibble in the time they'd been sitting there - or if she had she hadn't noticed, too focused on their conversation and companionship. "I know, sweetie. And I appreciate it." Lord knew she had more than enough on her plate lately, even if most days it felt like she brought it on herself. "How about you and Alex? Have you guys had a chance to hang out lately? I think he needs another guys' weekend," she admitted with a laugh.

beau-mccallum‌:
Beau titled his head towards the right as he stared at Cassandra and her explanation of elves and him in particular.  “The majority of us tend to be close to nature, he calmly stated.  “Although, not sure about the whole communing with animals and nature spirits.  But who is to say there aren’t elves who do.”  He was sure there was a variety of his kind that did things differently.  He on the other hand never tried to commune with the spirits, since he happened to be a doubter on the matter.  For the most part Beau was teasing about the gentleman thing, though he did strive to maintain the title.  The discussion of her family, he frowned at the mention of losing her grandmother.  There still was an emptiness inside his heart when he lost his grandmother.  He could imagine with Cassandra it would hurt a great deal. “True, but definitely hold onto her as long as possible and I honestly do love a spitfire, my grandmother was the same way.  I am sure those two would have gotten along swimmingly.”  Beau shook his head, “I managed, but it certainly was not as exciting. And I be losing a part of myself if you ever left.”
Tumblr media
“So you’re telling me that whole aspect is just a stereotype? That I’ve been lied to by all those movies?” Her tone was teasing even as she acted incredulous - she’d long learned by now that most of the things people thought they knew about supernaturals from movies and television shows were flat out wrong, but she still found it fun to tease some of her friends from time to time. Cass could see the frown that creased her friend’s face at the thought she had just spoken, but at her age, she had come to realize that no one stayed around forever. At least not anyone human. It hurt, but it was realistic, and she knew she’d always have a part of her grandmother with her no matter what. “I will, believe me. And I always keep everything she tells me close at hand. That woman knows a little something about pretty much everything, and she’s never afraid to tell me.” She smiled at the thought of Beau’s grandma being similar, a soft chuckle rumbling from her throat. There wasn’t a soul Bunny had ever met that she hadn’t gotten along with, save for Cass’s ex boyfriend, which she supposed was telling enough in and of itself. Her gaze turned sideways, her hand tightening around the handle of her fishing rod at Beau’s words. She had to swallow thickly, the words clogging her throat with emotions, and it took her a moment before she finally replied after clearing her throat. “Well don’t you worry. I don’t have any plans of goin’ anywhere anytime soon.”
