Why don’t the gwynriels and eluciens understand that Az didn’t care who that necklace went to and that gwyn more than likely does not have it??

He literally did not care who Clotho, CLOTHO NOT HIM, gave it to. He just wanted to get rid of it because now it reminded him of a bad night.

AND THERE’S NO PROOF THAT CLOTHO GAVE IT TO GWYN! Absolutely none. I can almost guarantee you that either we will never see that necklace again or Clotho still has it in a desk drawer waiting to give back to Az for Elain to finally have.

Like this is what a red herring is. A distraction from the real thing.

It drives me crazy when I see them say “what would Elain do when she finds out that her endgame gave her necklace to another woman and it made his chest spark”. 🙄 like stop assuming she has it or is ever going to get it. Until it’s written by Sarah, it’s not canon. Right now, it’s canonically with Clotho.

The anti-Elriels often forget that these characters don't just randomly find themselves in situations and act accordingly. SJM orchestrates it. It's all purposefully written.

So to those who say that Azriel rescuing Elain from Hybern wasn't romantic (it IS) or that he was just doing his job (he wasn't) - ask yourselves this - why Azriel then?

SJM could have just as easily sent Azriel to go retrieve Vassa. "Who better to find her then the Spymaster? He has eyes and ears everywhere, if anyone can locate her it's him." And she could have just as easily made it Lucien who stuck around, noticed Elain was missing, and insisted on going to save her, regardless of the threat of death.

He could have winnowed to the edge of the camp. Used his "slyness" to sneak through and find her. And finally, use his heritage as SPELL CLEAVER and his magical eye, to break the wards which did not allow anyone to winnow out. And boom, he winnows himself, Elain, and Briar to safety, and Feyre winnows herself out too.

Then it could have been Elain and Lucien who shared a moment. Maybe she doesn't want him as a mate, but she can't help but be thankful to him for his rescue. CCan't help but admire his courage, his bravery, his resourcefulness in getting them out.

But she DIDN'T. She wrote Az and Elain. Az rescuing her. Az carrying ehr. Elain kicking the hounds off Azriel's back. Elain kissing Azriel's cheek. This didn't just happen on accident. This was intentional. And Eluciens and Gwynriels alike love to pretend that it was just chance.

The song didn’t confirm Elriel for us. Guilty as Sin was just some fun sprinkles on top of an already massive Elriel sundae. But that’s the thing about actually having canon support your ship, you can celebrate the fun, random little things too!

Gwynriels: The books speak for themselves.

The books: "Would you like me to show you the garden?" • But Elain did not balk from him, did not shy away • “Beautiful." • Color bloomed high on Azriel's golden-brown cheeks, but he inclined his head in thanks and led my sister toward the back doors into the garden, sunlight bathing them. • "I can help her," said Azriel, stepping to the table as Elain silently rose. • "She doesn't need anything" • It made sense, I supposed, that Azriel alone had listened to her. • But Azriel asked softly, "What about Elain?" • "I'm getting her back." Nesta slid her gaze to the shadowsinger. Azriel's hazel eyes glowed golden in the shadows. Nesta said, "Then you will die." Azriel only repeated, rage glazing that stare, "I'm getting her back." • "Are you hurt?" •

"You came for me." • Azriel still cradling Elain to his chest. He dripped blood behind him the entire time • "We need Helion to get these chains off her." • Yet Elain didn't seem to notice them as she rose up on her toes and kissed the shadowsinger's cheek. • "This is Truth-Teller," he told her softly. "I won't be using it today—so I want you to." • I have never once seen Azriel let another person touch that knife. • Light and dark, the space between their bodies a blend of the two. • "He is Elain's mate." I waited. "It would be an invasion of her privacy to track him." • "If Lucien kills Graysen, then good riddance." • "Are we supposed to get the sisters presents?" • I felt, more than saw, my sister go still as he approached. Her throat bobbed. • "Sit. I'll take care of it." • "Wait until everyone is seated before eating." • I made to move toward her, but someone beat me to it. • "Oh, that's from me." • Elain smiled again, ducking her head. Azriel stilled. "What happened to Elain?" • No one spoke, though shadows gathered in the corners of the room, like snakes preparing to strike. • "I know. I helped rescue Elain, after all." • Azriel stiffened, an outright sign of temper from him as he said quietly, "There is an innate darkness to the Dread Trove that Elain should not be exposed to." • Azriel stood in the doorway, monitoring them. As if he'd heard Elain's sharp laugh and wondered what had caused it. • Then his gaze shifted to Elain, and though it was utterly neutral, something charged went through it. Between them. • A pretty lie. She'd seen Azriel before the fire plenty. But she looked at who sat close to it and knew the answer. • Because her mate had been in the family room and Azriel had needed to stay by the door the whole time because he couldn't stand the sight of it, the scent of their mating bond • Letting his scarred fingers touch her immaculate skin. • It had never gone this far. Well then maybe talk to the Gwynriels who make those rules for Gwyn and her trauma bc they’re everywhere on this app and others.

And let me ask you this, since SJM isn’t going to pit women against each other and use Gwyn for Elriel angst, she also isn’t going to use Elain for gwynriel angst, which is actually what the case would be since we already know Az and Elain have feelings for each other. That should be a pretty big clue as to what couple is and and isn’t happening.

Im glad we agree no one’s trauma should hold them back and I hope when Gwyn has healed and is ready, she finds love.

And what makes you think SJM is going to write that story and do it justice? If the power imbalance between a virgin fmc and non-virgin mmc make her uncomfortable, don’t you think her writing about a virgin fmc having sex for the first time with the guy who found her being raped might also make her uncomfortable bc of those power imbalances? Bc that takes a lot of care, research, nuance, consulting, and more to be written in a way that does the scene justice, but also in a way that isn’t harmful to real life survivor.

Im not denying SJM will give her characters healing and happiness, but just saying she didn’t set Gwyn’s character up to have her healing arc right now, her going back to the library and also having nothing to do with the actual plot of the books would indicate any Gwyn story we may get would happen later. I mean, she’s living in a women’s shelter and is so agoraphobic that she cannot even leave to see her best friends mating ceremony. So yes, it’s up to the author, and she clearly isn’t writing Gwyn’s story any time soon.

Please show me where I put “x amount of time” on Gwyn’s healing? The only one putting a timeline on things is you, and the fact you cannot see how harmful and disgusting that is just proves my point. The books have done nothing to set up Gwyn’s story, unless you think her healing is going to happen off page. Take it up with SJM.

This from the same people who have convinced themselves Lucien wants Vassa despite him not giving consent that he's interested in her romantically. After Lucien too suffered SA.

Gwyn is not real. She doesn't have to give her consent for us to imagine that a male she felt comfortable being alone with in the middle of the night with no one else around might be someone she is eventually interested in romantically.

A female who chooses to interact with Az during training, something you don't see with Emerie towards Az. Gwyn actively teases and seeks out conversation with him specifically.

She's shown more interest in Az after a few months than we saw from Elain after over a year. Looking at someone does not trump actually talking to them and that's about all Elain did in SF.

Using Gwyn's trauma as a reason to deny her the possibility of love in future books is an absolutely disgusting take in this fandom.

That's what healing journeys are about and trying to gaslight readers into thinking they're bad people for currently shipping Gwyn with Az just because she hasn't verbally stated "I want to sleep with you" at this point in the series makes you look like an enemy to SA victims, not an advocate.

Since this is a conversation you had with me, I figured I’d respond.

First, we aren’t the ones who have made Gwyn’s entire personality about her trauma. You guys have.

- Gwyn cannot be a Lightsinger bc of her trauma

- Gwyn cannot be angst for Elriel bc of her trauma

- Gwyn cannot do anything of ill intent bc of her trauma

- Gwyn deserves to find love bc of her trauma

YOU all have created guidelines of what her character can and cannot be based on her trauma.

What’s funny though, is you guys never stop to wonder if she is in a place where she would actually be ready to try a relationship. She cannot even be sure she can leave the library for Nessian’s mating ceremony. Healing isnt just finding a boyfriend, but somehow that’s the most important part to you all.

Like you said, this is a romance series. And I’m sorry, but I think we can all agree that SJM isn’t the author to handle something as sensitive as a healing arc that deals with the trauma of being raped. She said she doesn’t even like to write scenes of the female losing her virginity bc of the power imbalance (and no, unlike some of you believe, Gwyn is still very much a virgin).

No one is denying Gwyn love in a future book, but it is incredibly sad the the fans who apparently care about her most, don’t actually care about her healing, the timeline of that healing, or whether or not she’s ready for a romance.

As you said yesterday, two years has been plenty of time to move on from her trauma, proving that you don’t give a flying fuck about her trauma, her healing, or this story being handle appropriately. You just want her with Az

I wonder what actual SA survivors would think about the timeline you’ve given Gwyn, since this would be a book that impacts them greater than the average reader? Two years, time to get a move on, yeah? Healing doesn’t happen just bc you want it to, and this comment shows you do not want her story done justice. If you want me to believe that any of you actually give a shit about Gwyn, show me you actually care about her healing outside of getting with Azriel. And Gwyn may not be real, but her trauma is real for too many people. Considering that fact, you would think you’d want her potential story done with the utmost care and consideration, not just a means to an end to get her with Azriel.

I feel sorry for Gwyn that she has fans like all of you. And I feel even more sorry for any survivors out there who encounter your timelines and your pressures for healing without even the slightest consideration for where that person is on their road to healing.

The thing is...If Elain leaves the Night Court, Azriel will follow her.

Azriel isn't Cassian. Rhys's happiness isn't of paramount importance to him. Elain's is.

So if Elain goes, Azriel will go too.

If she goes to Spring, he'll be in Spring too.

If she goes to the Human Lands, he'll be there as well.

And if Elain is going to Hel, Azriel will be right by her side.

There exists no possibility of Azriel not being with Elain. He was the one who walked her out of the darkness of her own mind and he's be walking alongside her until the end.
