THE UNIVERSE MUST be broken, glitching or something ? for the first time since he’d learnt how to form sounds with his mouth, xavian had nothing to say. no snarky comment, no ego stroking, nothing. his eyes just continued to scan over the message on his phone screen. the phrase ‘final warning’ swirling around his mind. maybe he should sort his act out and stop pissing his band off ? but he hadn’t done anything to piss them off! they were just mad  that despite being hidden behind a drum kit for all the concerts and music videos, the fans still thought he was the fit one. it was obvious! jealousy at it’s finest. “ hey, i’ve missed place my lighter. you got one ? “

Cassia looked over her left shoulder, then her right one. The guy seemed to be talking to her. Xavier? Xander? She had seen him around a lot since she made the big move to L.A., but she hadn’t officially met him yet. She looked around again, confused, before pointing to herself. “Me? Uh... no, I prefer not to destroy my lungs, so there’s no reason for me to carry one,” she told him.

“ wait , so why am i up right now ? ” caleb mumbled drowsily , peering at his sister with barely-open eyes . the disorientation of waking up so suddenly still clouded his mind and made his limbs feel heavy , to the point that he was glad to be sitting . “ i wanna be sleeping still . ” his whining was childish , but if he could whine to anyone , it was her . he plopped his head onto her shoulder , his eyes drifting closed once again . “ it better be a real emergency , cas … ” 

Cassia patted her brother’s head, so pathetically yet adorably propped on her shoulder as she pulled her backpack up onto the bed beside them.. She had used her spare key to come bursting into his apartment at 6:30 in the morning and jumping on his bed like she used to do when they were children. “You are such a baby. You can sleep later. Right now, I need you. It is, it is. I just got this in the mail... if... I could find it,” she grumbled as she rummaged through the contents of her bag. Organization was not her forte, and now she was wishing it had been. “Aha!” she shouted with victory, yanking the envelope from the stack of papers and accidentally knocking Caleb’s head from its bony new pillow.

Pulling a stuffed lion towards her from above her head, she cuddled it close and hummed. “Okay, you have a point there... on both accounts, but that’s not the point,” Cassia argued. “We’re talking about you now.” The younger girl listened intently, knowing that Katie loved her dramatics and would appreciate her full attention. However, Whiskers, her fluffy orange princess of a cat, always knew when more attention was being given to others, and she soon leaped up onto the bed, purring as she made her way between them. Cassia’s hand automatically went to her feline companion, but she kept her attention mostly on her best friend. “Yeah, I totally get that. It’s crazy, isn’t it? But I think if it’s good fun and not, like, slander, maybe it’s a compliment? I mean, you are pretty great, right, Whiskers?”

Eyebrows quirked, Cassia rolled onto her side to face Katie, a small laugh erupting from her chest. “Okay, first of all, there will never be such a thing as too much bread, so you take that back,” she scolded jokingly, jabbing a finger into her friend’s shoulder. Cassia was a firm believer in carbs, and she did not care who knew it. Plus, Katie’s bread was the absolute best. “Second, what’s going too fast? Honestly, there is nothing happening in my life besides tormenting Caleb, but you know that’s a given. Whats up?” she asked, propping up on her elbow.
