Amille Laurent is every bit as precious as everyone sees it.

I had always thought my inability to speak and my apparent disposition or lack thereof would lead to me having no one to love, to hold or live this life with, how wrong was I.

I had wanted a perfect love story for my dad and be content with just being my father's overly pampered child.

I guess it didn't work out like that.

I got my own epic love.

He loves me, he cares for me, he's a teddy bear and he understands me after I explain things about three times and he's huge.

I mean yeah... I mean he's huge and most of all he's my mate.

His wolf is my best friend and I'm in love with them both, as cheesy as it sounds.

"How do you even know?" Camryn argued as we stood in the baby section of the large shop we were in.

We were looking for a congratulations you're pregnant sort of present for dad, of course I doubt he even knew he was pregnant.

'I just know okay, don't read into it,' I argued and he scoffed.

"Well I'm not about to go through this whole damned aisle if you don't tell me swordfish," he was pouting and trying to throw a cute tantrum.

'Okay, calm down boy-scout, I'll tell you,' I tried but inevitably he knew I wasn't going to tell him because he would be doing it on me so he can find out if he scored.

I had suspicion but that was secondary.

"No you won't," he grumbled like the neanderthal he was, and he knew me so well.

'How do you know that?' I demanded using my phone and he snickered.

"I know it because you don't want me to..." he paused as I set my eyes on him intently, waiting for him to finish his sentence.

"Okay fine cup-cake," he groaned and I laughed taking his hand and we walked down the aisle checking for more options.

I hadn't revealed to my mate that I could physically speak now, even my own family didn't know.

Why?

Because I knew they would make a fuss over it but for Camryn I wanted him to know, today, that's why I had planned our picnic later of course it wasn't much of a surprise since he carried most of picnic stuff and put them in the car.

I still had another surprise or two.

"Finally found you," Dean was heaving.

Orlando was almost fine, Maxine was more or nearly fainting as they all stood in front of us.

"What's wrong?" Camryn demanded but Orlando stepped in.

"No nothing, they're just being dramatic," he mused as he came forward.

"We just needed the Alpha's signature on these, finalized documents on territory expansion and the building of that Arts building where wolves will learn to channel their inner rage into something useful, like paying art," he explained with a wink my way and I couldn't help chuckle as I left Camryn's side and moved to hug Maxine.

She was now alright after the whole incident.

We both had gone through therapy and it had been truly helpful.

I also hugged Dean who rumbled like a cat.

'How are you?' I asked.

I knew he was going through something after finding out Orlando was indeed his mate and also that his mom had fallen in love again and after so long, the expectancy that she would get back with his dad was there but now it seemed it wasn't, he hadn't taken it well but he was adjusting well.

"I'm getting better every day, aside from Orlando molesting me every two seconds, horny bastard," he grumbled and we both laughed as Max nudged me.

"So you're gonna do it?" she asked and I couldn't help notice how her golden skin was practically glowing.

She had been up to something with my younger cousin but that was their business, for now.

'I am, it's time and since Carter along with Alpha Lincoln and Carter's mate arrive tomorrow, it's good timing, they will be breaking bones.' I excitedly replied.

"Can you be less excited about us all getting our asses whooped," Dean grumbled and I laughed even more so.

'No, not gonna happen,' I replied just as I felt my mate behind me.

'Put me down tyrant,' I yelled in his mind but he just laughed showing me off like a prize he had won.

"Never," he roared.

"You take this, pay for it, go to the house, there are art supplies there, and a printer, you're going to make this, the prettiest congratulations you're having a baby onesie, if you don't, ten laps each," my neanderthal ordered before smacking my ass eliciting a moan from me which made me blush and the others chuckle knowingly.

"Chocolate-mousse, control yourself we're in public," my mate reprimanded and I rolled my eyes, he was the one cause of my outburst.

'You're the one doing it,' I argued as the others just waved us off.

"Ten laps," Camryn yelled when we were a distance apart making me groan whilst I was still over his shoulder and our friends no family, were now laughing.

I was mated to an idiot who was parading me in large shop over his shoulder and growling at everyone who came close and yet, I really found it endearing and a turn on that he didn't care who was there.

I was his first and that would never change.

I could feel his happiness pouring through me because of our bond.

His wolf as well and then I felt tears on my shoulder.

"Camryn," I whispered and he just sighed.

"I never thought I'd love anything or anyone as much as I love you, voice or not you're amazing, you're perfect and you're resilient. I'm so grateful that I get to have you as my mate. That I get to be blessed with you in this life and next ones. I promise mate, you complete me," he finished as we both cried, that had been the most beautiful thing Camryn had ever told me yet I felt it was true for me and I let him feel it through our bond as we both calmed down.

"I love you Amille Laurent and I know one day very soon, you'll be a Summer," he rasped out and as we parted I looked at him questioningly.

"What are you planning?" I question and he shook his head in refusal.

"Nothing at all my love," he replied and I snickered dropping the sheet that was wrapped around both of us.

"So you won't tell me?" I asked straddling him and rubbing myself on his hardening member which certainly made him groan.

"Is that the day you and Rha-Es had that heart to heart?" he asked and I nodded. 

"It's so life like, so real, you captured it so well," he mumbled and I chuckled.

"That's because I lived it and I wanted it like that, you're not just my mate, he is too," I stated as Camryn's eyes glowed green for a moment.

Rha-Es knew, as our fingers entwined and we both were happy to stay in this moment with Camryn being fascinated more and more with the painting.

We weren't perfect but we had each other and we would do anything for each other.

"So you want to stay here a bit longer? The fireflies are coming out," Camryn mentioned and I nodded.

"As long as I'm with you, it doesn't matter where we are," I replied and he held me closer, the fireflies making our moment last a lifetime.

I was physically drained as Camryn and I were hurriedly putting both our clothes on.

I was first to finish as I grabbed his pants and belt clipped it on, then went on to buttoning his shirt, it had been so hastily a few buttons were misplaced.

I didn't need to look over my own hair I knew it was right but his,.

It definitely looked like sex hair but we didn't have time for it now as we both chuckled toward each other.

"Shall we?" he asks and I nod.

He opened the door for me and I slipped past, waited for him to lock up and we walked hand in hand away from the auto shop we had left in a mess, especially his office since I couldn't keep my hands to myself.

"Do we really have to do this?" he grumbles and I nod tugging him forward.

'I did not just go seven rounds of sex today only, in the shop for you to back out now, we're going to see your dad and your mom, along with my dad,' I pressed on and he sighed.

"Fine, at least you'll be there and I am thoroughly satisfied even Rha-Es is beat, how do you manage, keeping up with us not just today but this whole entire week of barely anything but you making sure every chance you got. You had me on top or you were riding. I think I created a monster," he quipped back and I smacked his arm.

'Hey, focus, I'm not revealing any secrets but I will be here to satisfy my mate, that's all I can say,' I retorted and he snickered then tugged on my hand, pulling me even closer. 

"My beautiful mate," he whispered and I smiled, I loved him so much.

'My handsome tyrant, I love you,' I told him and he smiled widely.

"I'm in love with you," he replied and I was the one to snicker.

'Not a competition but ditto,' I chuckled as our hands were entwined.

We didn't care who approved or who didn't, we didn't care what anyone else had to say about us, we were just us in love.

After the whole kidnapping was over, the pack under my mate's rule had become stricter, his rules in my perspective made the pack safer though a few argued some of the laws he had put on the pack,.

Those who were against them, were quickly shown the door to leave the pack, which silenced them, having hunted down rogues as far as the mountains, which was two days the journey to the Ascender pack meant they were nowhere near Bridgeton and most of them were killed or those worth saving were brought back, like the two I had saved in the bunker.

I had also got in contact with Alpha Lincoln, he had also done his own rogue purge from there into the mountains meaning on both ends we could breathe a little better and it was visible more so in the city and the pack, the crime rate had gone down significantly and the pack was thriving, finally they could have their kids be what they were, wolves who roamed the land freely. It was refreshing.

"What are you thinking about?" Camryn suddenly questions as we were near his dad's office.

'Only you and how great at being Alpha you're already turning out,' I replied with the mind link like always but my response made him chuckle lowly.

"Here I am thinking I'm not doing enough," he replied and I squeezed his large hand that engulfed mine in reassurance.

'You're doing enough Camryn, you're doing more than enough. The pack is thriving and when Carter, his mate and Lincoln get here you'll see that they'll commend you too, it's going to be alright,' I reassured him and he smiled nudging my side.

"Beautiful and wise, how lucky can a wolf get," he teased making me blush.

"Thank you short-stack, your reassurance is all I will ever need," he replied and I nodded in return.

I would always be there to guide and support him, in the worst and best of his decisions because that's what mates do, so do lovers.

After our walk we finally stood at Alpha Summer's office, my dad was already here hence his expensive black jeep that took up two parking spots.

The other two most likely were Camryn's parents. His heavy sigh made me turn to face him.

'Okay?' I asked.

"Ready," he replied as we walked in, headed to the third floor, the silence wasn't overwhelming but the muffled cries were somehow alarming so we walked faster to the double doors expecting horror but nothing.

"Good, you're finally here," Uncle Kyra cheered as our parents turned to face us.

"Finally, we were tired of waiting on you," Camryn's dad hissed, let's just say he was still bitter about his son forcibly removing him from his position as Alpha but before Camryn did, he was making horrible decisions and when his son forcibly took the mantle, they found it easy to support him instead, luckily he didn't disappoint.

'Hi dad,' I greeted my father who stood up to embrace me and place a kiss on my forehead.

"How are you?" he asked with a smile.

'I'm okay, you okay?' I retorted and he smiled caressing my cheek.

"Perfectly okay sweetheart, Camryn come," he called out before Camryn sat next to his father, obviously avoiding his mother.

I knew I needed to push him to talk to her but just being in this meeting had taken a week of heavy make out and sex.

I wasn't about to open that bag of cats just yet.

"Look at you, taller than my brother and still growing, did you have your food. I left it in the warmer and then packed your lunch, did you eat it?" he demand as Camryn blushed lightly rubbing his neck, whilst being questioned by dad, he was just nodding which amused me.

"Promise dad, I'm fine," he finally said it.

"Good. We can't have you not grow to your full potential because you had malnutrition," dad finally muttered and uncle Kyra broke into a laugh.

"I don't think at this point it matters Calvin," he argued as I went to sit next to him.

"It does. They are growing kids. They need all the love and care, plus food," he stated as he smiled my way and nodded to Camryn to sit by his dad.

"Whatever you say dear," Uncle Kyra conceded making me chuckle, it was as if the Beta wasn't just married to my aunt but my dad too, he couldn't win an argument with either of them.

"We've already discussed a few matters alpha, one of those being about your mother's actions, I understand it's a sensitive topic but her actions led to what Vincent did and in that sense, your father and I agreed that it is better she's exiled," my uncle spoke as I looked to Camryn and smiled

We had talked about this before and came to our own decision.

"Respectfully exile isn't enough, it won't teach the pack the value of life, only show them that if you're someone of high regard in the pack, you can get away with anything whilst we killed Vincent for kidnapping and poisoning my mate. I spoke to the Ryeland Pack Alpha and Ralliel as he's taken up the position of Alpha, requested that she come back to the pack and her judgement be passed there," I explained and the visible shock on Camryn's mother's face wasn't unmistakable.

"You can't send me back. I'll be a disgrace. They'll kill me. What about your brothers, they need me," she argued.

"No they don't, you'll only corrupt them and you leave tonight, I've asked several enforcers to escort you," Camryn asserted as indeed outside, the enforcers knocked on the door, when Alpha Summer called for them they came in and bowed before the new Alpha.

"Take her away and make sure she arrives in the St Maine and the Ryeland pack," Camryn ordered as his mother cried, screamed and begged but her actions were her own and no one wanted their hands with her blood here.

"Wise decision Camryn," Alpha Summer mumbled but his son was much like stone.

"I won't be stepping down for you dad, accept that, I will have you continue taking care of the business partly, my mate and my Beta along with his mate will help me with the rest," he added and his father didn't seem shocked rather accepted it with a nod.

"So I have something I need to say, I don't know how you'll take it but..." Dad spoke and I unintentionally got worried as did Camryn, it showed when his brow knitted together creasing over his forehead.

"Dad," he asserted.

"No... no don't do that, it's not totally bad, your dad and I Camryn are seeing each other or dating in your terms, we didn't honestly mean it for it happen but he needed someone in his corner..."

And then my father rambled after the bomb he thought Camryn and I didn't already know.

'We know,' I perked up and stopped him.

'You haven't exactly been subtle at the house, he's horrible at breath control,' I explained earning a snicker from the former alpha and a full on belly laugh from uncle Kyra.

"It's your decision, whether we like it or don't, you're both adults and can make these decisions on your own but I promise, I'm okay with this, just next time, don't hesitate telling me, makes things less ominous or weird," Camryn explained as he stood up and went to hug my dad who was thanking him over and over again.

"You trusted me with my sassy short-stack over there, I know you make good decisions," he reassured.

'Hey,' I protested earning laughter from everyone.

"Nothing more for me son," Camryn's father asked as he just smiled.

"Nope. Babe let's go," he added and I stood up, hugged my dad, hugged my uncle a little bit extra before taking my hand and leaving with him.

"Feels like a good day to have a picnic and make a baby or three," he teased and I gasped in shocked.

'I'm not carrying three at once, I'll be bloated,' I shrieked and he chuckled.

"I'll love you anyway," he asserts and all I did was melt in his arms.

'I know,' I whispered as we walked toward Ford's my favourite place in Bridgeton.

I knew we had a lot more things to do, prepare and plan but I was sure Camryn and I would be just fine and he was mine and I was his, in this life and the ones that came after.

Howling Love - Chapter 31

'I hear I created some sort of blood thirsty tyrant in my absence,' I mentioned as I got off Rha-Es and Camryn's back, the wolf part of my mate was more in control as I looked him in the eye and I could slightly see a wolfish grin.

"He made the right call and many in this pack if not all agree, his father had focused too much on building the pack, livelihoods and business to sustain the pack but had forgotten that outside this territory, rogues were growing in number and festering, waiting for the day, much like this one to strike, he had always tried to be a peacemaker but there is no peace to be garnered when the other party won't accept peace," Rha-Es explained and he couldn't have said anything more to explain their decision today.

'Can you live with the consequences of your decisions, you forcibly took the mantle of Alpha from your father. I felt a shift before the massacre of bodies, I also feel different,' I stated and Rha-Es seemed to be in thought looking out toward the moon.

"The Moon Goddess is no fool to give me a mate so wise and beautiful and she is no fool in getting us toward this path with a troublesome mate. I would, I believe my other half as well would do this all over again just to make sure you were happy, safe and well taken care of," he asserted without question and I did not ask further.

I knew my mate was intent on his words, his new status as Alpha wasn't a surprise to many but how he became alpha could be questionable.

However I believed in his strength and his will.

A new day was coming for the Sunspear Pack of Bridgeton, one that would echo with all the other packs that a tyrant had taken the mantle of Alpha.

He did not just accept anyone into his pack, if he felt so, he'd kill them on sight.

I hoped many rogues would flee, it was better that way than coming to create a blood bath here.

'Grant me one favour Rha-Es,' I asserted and the wolf slowly nodded.

'The pack maybe strong but to withstand whatever else may come it needs to be stronger, may I call my friends, Carter, his husband and Alpha Lincoln of the Ascender Pack, they will teach the pack how to heal and defend, fight not just for our warriors but all of this pack, so that they know how to defend themselves or kill if need be,' I asked and I knew he was debating it with Camryn.

"You are the Luna and my mate first, if you believe it is needed for our home, call them as soon as you can," he replied and a smile broke out on my lips.

'Thank you so much mate,' I whispered still struggling to hug him in his wolf form, an idea for a perfect portrait coming into my mind, I'd start on it soon.

"Anything for the love of all my lives to come and this one," he replied as fur receded into skin, bones crunching and putting themselves back into a different form.

I was no longer hugging my wolf mate, Camryn had engulfed me with his now even larger body, it felt right leaning on him, felt blissful and content.

"My love," he whispered as I nodded, the high of everything finally wearing off and I cried.

I cried because if not for what had happened, the change in me, Vincent would've killed me, hurt Maxine and I couldn't have been able to have a future with Camryn that I wanted.

With our football team of kids who would all grow up to be strong like their pops, crying was a release I welcomed and I felt peaceful afterwards, I felt lighter.

"He's waiting inside, he wanted to give Rha-Es and then me and you some time," Camryn explained and I knew he meant my father, dad was never a wolf to be found on a battlefield if he could help it.

His wolf tended to go on a blood frenzy he had a hard time controlling so he mostly sat them out.

So I nodded wiping away my tears and helped my mate wear a pair of shorts that were scantily tied to his leg, tied them around his waist and he scoffed.

"Is this about to become a thing, I wouldn't mind getting naked just to have you, then have you dress me too," he exclaimed and I smacked his overly bloated bicep.

'Naughty tyrant, how did you even get there after all this,' I mentioned as he laughed and I joined him.

"What can I say, you bring out the beast in me," he playfully growled grabbing me and then threw me over his shoulder.

'Neanderthal put me down,' I screamed in our heads and he just chuckled then spanked me.

"No, mine," he growled lightly causing goosebumps to form on my skin as we made it to the door laughing.

In all this while I hadn't uttered a single word, I had been using the mind link, I wanted a special moment to reveal this new gift to him and my family, so for now I would resign myself to not speaking and besides.

I wasn't in a hurry to be anywhere, I had all the time in the world, so I would create those special moments for now.

I allowed Camryn to open the door to my house, he set me down and before I could even take a step forward I was wrapped in the arms of a crying large mass of man.

"Oh my baby boy, my sweet child... my lovely baby boy," he cried harder crushing me in his embrace but I didn't mind.

I wanted the bone crushing hug as much. I

had missed him so much in the short space of time that we had been apart, it hurt not having my dad close, not able to run to him, afraid of what would happen but not anymore, so I cried again, clutching onto him like my life depended on it because in a way it did.

He had raised me, he knew best, despite the bits of secrets of my birth and where I truly came from, the origin of my blood, I didn't care, he was home and even though we didn't share blood, we shared something deeper, love, he was my dad and that was never going to change.

'I'm home dad,' I muttered in his mind.

"Oh my baby, yes you are, yes you are sweetheart," he whispered as we both stopped the crying fit when Camryn enveloped both of us in his arms.

"Hey, I'm home too you know," he grumbled making both dad and I chuckle.

"Yes Camryn, welcome home, you're my baby too," dad replied as he pressed kisses onto both Camryn and my face,

It felt good being doted over by him, I was looking forward to it.

"Come on, let's get you both cleaned up and fed. I already made dinner so get up to your room and clean up okay. I need to talk to your uncle and your dad Camryn," he explained as I nodded and pulled my mate away to my well our room since dad allowed him in there now.

"Oh my love," Camryn whispered as I helped him clean up.

We were both under the shower, naked but there was no arousal, it seemed in that moment, we were just content to be in each other's arm.

"I like your hair longer, it really makes those eyes of yours pop. Do you have contact lenses in?" he asked and I shook my head in refusal, he simply smiled and came closer.

"I think they're beautiful," he whispered as he shifted the mirror so I could see.

They were no longer dark obsidian but rather a blue that was extremely usual so blue it looked like polished glass with a canary ring around them, I liked them too.

'I want to...' I couldn't finish that statement as I felt Camryn's member harden behind me.

"What do you say, a quick one before dinner then we continue later." he suggested but I was already out of words just nodding as lips and tongue touched my skin.

'Alpha Tyrant,' I whispered to him with my mind.

The victory had been ours today.

I knew I could count on my mate to find me and save me.

We had run without stopping, not even to catch a breath or worry about humans seeing us, my team of wolves joined up with Orlando's, as more wolves who knew of what had happened joined our hunt.

I led them through the woods toward the old barracks and as we ran I felt a shift in the connection between myself and my mate, he was alright, drained but otherwise fine and something else.

I couldn't explain it but something was different, so it forced me to push on harder and reach our destination quicker.

'Alpha,' Orlando called out with the link as we cleared the last leg of our run and came into the open to face the old barracks.

'Camryn,' my father addressed me and I wondered why he had come.

I didn't need his help rescuing my mate, so I growled toward him, letting him know that I wasn't there to be belittled by him.

Our stare off was cut short when his Beta, my mate's uncle spoke.

'We don't have time for you two to brawl, my nephew, his best friend are in there with a bunch of rogue wolves and Goddess knows what else, if you two can't get along, long enough for us to save them, then Goddess help me I will do it myself,' he hissed loudly and I turned away from my father, Amille and Maxine were the goal, he was waste of time.

'I thought a few rogues had kidnapped them, where are those coming from?' Tej piped into the conservation pointing toward the woodlands on the other side where a hoard of rogues were walking out.

'Shit, they probably know we're here for someone important,' I stated as I growled, they couldn't get in the way of our rescue.

I know I should've taken time to assess the situation.

Killing wasn't necessarily but I had had enough of rogue wolves to last me a lifetime.

Unless my mate was the one who spoke on their behalf, I would give no mercy to any of them.

'Kill them all,' I ordered.

'Alpha...' my father's Beta spoke through our mind link.

'Camryn some of them can be saved,' my father argued.

'I don't care, rogues gave mother that poison, Vincent was able to capture and kidnap both my mate and Maxine because rogues helped him, we've left them unchecked, they've festered and now grown bold enough to try and stop me from getting to my mate, I will not have it, so kill them all, The SunSpear will be feared from now on,' I drilled it into their minds and not just the wolves here with me on the battlefield but all those who were in my pack.

I was tired of rogue wolves.

This was my land and any rogue who my mate or myself couldn't find worth in saving, would die.

'That's not your call to make. It's mine. I am Alpha,' my father hissed into my mind facing me and growling lowly, a challenge.

'Not anymore dad, they all listen to me now.'

It was true, the wolves all stood with me, he could feel it because being Alpha wasn't just about being born the strongest, it also came with being chosen and they had, so I howled my call to mate, I was coming for him.

'From now on, unless a rogue is truly worth saving, kill them all without mercy,' I ordered as I reared back and lunged forward, with my own hoard of wolves, viciously growling and ready for blood.

I tore into the first rogue wolf I grabbed by my jaws, ripping his throat open and making sure it's wind pipe was torn out.

I could see my Beta and his brother tear into the wolves, none was safe as they had one objective, kill to get to their cousin.

So I moved forward, tearing into rogues easily, ripping apart legs, throats and heads, it was a gory mess of blood and parts but if this what was needed to show any who would dare challenge, see themselves in a position of power that challenged mine on my land, I would kill.

A wolf shifted in front of me, her body covered in blood, mud and I don't know what else, the distinct scent of an alpha rolled off her, I wouldn't take her lightly, as I too shifted back.

"Alpha Summer, here I thought you would do like always, give a tad bit of a warning and run us off your lands, what happened to the accord?" she hissed and I looked her dead set in the eyes.

'You hide behind the accord because you know you can claim we have falsely killed your brethren in order to seem justified when you enter our territory, how truly dumb do you expect me to be. I am not my father, there is no accord, any rogue, man or woman will not be spared. I will cleanse Bridgeton of your filth and none of you will dare ever touch what is mine ever again. You should have stayed far from my city, from my pack land Alpha. We aren't running you off this time. We're killing each and every one of you, starting with this one,' I hissed then spun on heel to swipe the wolf who was about to attack me off his legs.

I didn't waste time punching right through his ribcage and tearing out, heart and organs in the process causing the alpha in front of me to look at me in horror.

She lunged for me with her claws but I didn't swerve or dodge.

I was faster than her and my foot found her abdomen and kicked her back with all the force I could put in, she tumbled away as I lunged for her, though she was quick on her feet, she wasn't quick to recover, I could feel it in her upper cut, it lacked power.

I took a step back and lunged for her again in a blur of speed, gave her an upper cut that caused blood to splatter from her mouth.

I didn't stop my assault as I threw another punch to her abdomen, then another to her jaw, another blow to her head then a roundhouse kick that caused her to tumble and roll again on the ground.

"No more accords, no more mercy, you all die," I called out as she staggered to feet then forced herself to shift and lung for me, I faced her wolf head on and body slammed it down to the forest floor.

I used my leg to crush upper right leg, it caused her to whine in pain, in one last attempt to attack me, she opened her jaws to bite on my leg, she sunk her fangs deep but I didn't show weakness, I took the pain, grabbed her snout and jaw, forced it open away from my leg.

"Pathetic," I whispered, as large as she was, I pulled her up in wolf form, it was as if  everyone stopped to watch me, I was sure they did.

'Camryn,' my father spoke in my mind but I wasn't listening, this was a lesson they all needed to be taught, as the female alpha tried to claw at my face, a futile struggle before I snapped her head sideways, pulling her jaw and trachea off her body in a bloody mess.

Now they would fear me and they did as I shifted and howled, most of the remaining rogue wolves were now running away as a door to a hidden bunker flew open and a few more ran out, the scent of my mate filling my space and I sprinted toward the bunker.

'Do not leave a single one alive, kill them all,' I ordered the warriors as Orlando and Teja were on me shifting back, along with their father and my own.

We walked down into the bunker, my eyes quickly adjusted to the dimly lit room, I crossed the threshold feeling my mate even closer.

Banging the door off its hinges, it seemed I had been doing that a lot lately and there he was, glowing even in the semi darkness.

"Camryn," he spoke in my mind, as I didn't waste time closing the distance, my beautiful mate.

"Teja," I heard Max call out as she ran to him but I was more preoccupied with my own mate, kissing him like my life depended on it.

"My hero neanderthal and all," he teased as we pulled apart.

"I am not letting you out of my sight until the day we graduate," I growled as I held him close to me.

He was where I belonged and the world would burn if anyone harmed him.

"I'm not letting you out of my sight until we get you home to your dad," his uncle spoke as they hugged and I turned to face the rogue wolves along with Vincent.

"Don't kill them," Amille yelled in all our minds.

"Why not? They kidnapped you," my father hissed back.

"No they didn't, they were never part of this, they only tagged along to get away from their really nasty Alpha and Vincent here was kind enough to accept that he knows nothing of them, somehow I can tell when or if they're lying and they aren't," he further explained as I looked to the two rogue wolves, they looked just a bit older than us.

"Beta Kyra, Vincent isn't part of the pack anymore and we don't keep prisoners," I told the wolf who knew exactly what I meant as I scooped up my mate into my arms and walked out, everyone else followed behind us except the beta who had one last kill.

"Shift, I will not have more people see you naked with me around," my mate stated in my mind and I nodded, without second thought I shifted into my wolf form, my wolf was even happier to pounce on our mate and drench him in slober then nuzzle him as he laughed.

I missed you too Rha-Es, he projected into our mind and all my wolf was chanting was his name and mate.

"Is that the same wolf that just ordered us to massacre any rogue in sight some time ago?" Orlando mused as my wolf kept playing with our mate like a puppy, both of us rolling on the ground with him.

"Seems so," Teja quipped as finally beta Kyra walked out of the bunker with Vincent's severed head, never mess with a wolf who could do that in seconds.

"How about we go home, your dad must be worried," my father suggested as finally my wolf got some of his decency back and allowed our mate to get on our back.

"Home," my mate smiled as I took off for home.

Howling Love - Chapter 29

My body felt numb, as if I was being held together in one position.

Unable to move and unable to feel, great Vincent had further damaged me, so I moaned, rousing from my forced unconscious.

'Amille,' it was muffled but I knew that particular voice so I turned my eyes to face her and my heart was broken.

She had been crying, luckily that was the only thing they had done to her physically despite the kidnapping and I was grateful for that in a way.

'Amille,' she tried again as my surroundings and her finally became clear.

We were surrounded by thick brick walls, damp... meaning we weren't above ground and both of us had been tied with heavy duty ropes that were bound to the ground by chains.

They had been thorough.

Slowly the memory of how I got here came back, I wanted to panic, yell, scream but that's not what I was taught.

I was already assessing my situation, calmly before making any move, it's why and how I knew we were underground, moving my hand trying to see one of the several bracelets I wore.

I couldn't but I was sure it was there, I never took them off.

'I'm okay Max, are you?' I softly spoke into her mind but doing so caused pain ever so gentle in my head but she nodded in response.

"Good you're awake," Vincent suddenly appeared, with a bag of medical supplies in hand followed by what I knew were definitely rogues, how he got in contact with any of them was anyone's guess at this point.

"You know, I must say that you're truly beautiful, I honestly hadn't seen it until my rage and jealousy was put aside and I truly saw you, absolutely gorgeous and even all my friends agree, no wonder the Alpha chose you over me," he finished and in that moment I was amused, Vincent was truly delirious.

Camryn never chose between us, he dumped him way before we ever went on our first date.

He and I never competed for him, because clearly there was no need to.

"You're probably asking yourself why I took you, why her and why any of this really, it's simple," he explained as he smiled toward one of his friends who came forward and removed the gag from both Max and I's mouths.

"I heard a certain, if I should say incredibly beautiful man, much like yourself, they were telling the alpha about how you were special, wolf-blood but no wolf and more so critically ordinary like a human but then I tested the theory by using a drug with wolfsbane as it's base to knock you out, if you weren't wolf-blood, you wouldn't be feeling all the effects, the burning, the dizziness, that pain you feel in the back of your head when you activate the link to speak, meaning it was true," he grinned happily clapping as he went on.

I wasn't happy in any way, only a select people knew about my blood heritage and it had been kept from me my whole life until recently when I almost died.

I wasn't mad at dad or Carter for not telling me because if they had, I would've landed myself in trouble trying to understand what it was that made me special and knowing now, it hasn't brought me any good.

Only a delirious wolf who doesn't seem to get that there was nothing between him and my mate, there is nothing to appraise or garner from my blood, it was just blood.

"So I thought before we get to the fun bits, I draw a few bags just to check, experiment, don't worry, I won't bleed you dry," he explained with a grin that made my insides tight.

"You can't do that, leave him alone," Max hissed as she tried to get up and defend me but Vincent growled and slapped her across the cheek.

His strength was superior so it threw her back to the damp floor of the dimly lit room we were in.

My heart pounded in my chest as I looked over to my best friend, I knew she was hurt as she tried to get up.

"I won't let you hurt him," she declared with glowing eyes but her wrists burned pulling her back to the floor.

"Pathetic," Vincent sneered as I looked to Max trying to convince her to stay down.

"Why are they so devoted to you huh?" he demanded as in a split second his rogue friend had grabbed Maxine by her throat and slammed her into the wall and in that moment I couldn't hold it back.

"Max," I screamed, my voice just didn't come from my mind or just my body, I called out to my best friend with everything that I had in me and it broke through, shocking everyone in the room.

"Let her go," I demanded and in that instant the rogue wolf listened and let Maxine go, she fell to her knees still reeling from the shock of my newfound voice and abilities.

"What? How? You can't... you shouldn't be able..." Vincent muttered in shock as I turned to look at my friend.

"Are you okay?" I questioned her and she nodded with a smile, it felt so good, felt so right to finally say it,.

I had always wanted to say these words, to let her know that I truly appreciated her.

"Oh Maxie. I love you," I whispered and she hurriedly moved toward me and hugged me but our joy was short lived when Vincent grabbed me and held me by my throat.

"What's this? I thought you were mute or some shit. How are there actual words coming out of your mouth?" he hissed as my eyes were set on him again and this time I knew how to do it.

"Let me go, Vincent," I spoke, but not without feeling it come from my whole being, it was rooted in my heart and mind.

I could feel it and it was akin to undeniable will over others and Vincent was forced to obey, so he let me go.

"Hey, don't just let go because he said so, Vincent, what's wrong with you?" his rogue partner demanded and growled pulling him away.

"I... can't stop myself, he's doing it and my body won't listen," he grunted out as a howl, strong, fierce and true echoed above ground.

Even in my heart I knew, my mate, my Alpha was coming for us.

The door burst open as several more rogues barged in looking more feral yet afraid.

"The house is in flames. Durk's dead, the Alpha, he's not someone we wanna mess with. We shouldn't have listened to you. We should've just asked him on our own," the wolf explained as in a second my head turned to Max in understanding.

I knew she had caught on.

"Don't get wise now Garry," Vincent hissed as he was still feeling the effect of my command.

"I am the future Luna of the Sun Spear Pack. I can help you, save you from my mate's wrath if you let us go," I stated cutting off the oncoming argument.

"Wait, you bloody wretch, you had us kidnap the Alpha's mate," the first rogue to be in the room with us demanded as he grabbed Vincent by the collar and shook him then proceeded to shoving him to the wall.

"Let me go," Vincent growled back pushing the other wolf back.

"Free us," I ordered the third wolf who had spoken in the room.

He didn't hesitate to grab the ropes, they burned him but he didn't stop until he tore them off our arms then I finally felt it, the full impact of what I could do but I knew I needed to be careful with my words.

The wolf who had freed us was moaning in pain on the ground, he had used his hands instead of a blade to free us therefore he was paying the price of being soaked in wolfsbane.

Grabbing Max's hand, we both faced the room full of rogues, men and women who I could tell apart, some of them by just looking at them I knew all they wanted from this, was a home.

"Listen to me well, Vincent used you and will continue using you for his own selfish gain, until you're all dead," my words caused a stir, they were indeed listening and realizing where they went wrong.

"If you wish to be part of the pack, to truly live without fear of being hunted and killed, I offer you that with the Sunspear pack but if not I suggest you run."

Howling Love - Chapter 28

"Amille," I growled out as the doors to the art studio fell to the floor after I banged them open.

"Camryn Summer control yourself," the art teacher yelled as my frantic eyes couldn't find him, he wasn't there.

All the doors on the floor were being banged open by my friends and the lacrosse team, why because I couldn't feel my mate.

I couldn't find him, the last time I did, I felt as if I was being dunked in wolfsbane then nothing.

So I quickly raced off to find him, they all rallied to follow me, his cousins were both beyond frantic but all the ruckus was white noise as I tried to find him.

Correct... it was a pin prick.

He was alive but why our connection was so weak alarmed me.

"He's not here Alpha," one of the wolves on the team muttered and I growled feeling useless.

Yet again I couldn't keep my mate safe.

He was the most precious thing to me but I couldn't keep him safe.

I barely knew where he was.

"Help the caretaker fix the door, replace it whatever, when you're done, find me," I order the wolf who nods stiffly.

I turned on my heel headed for the stairs, down to the ground floor where his locker was, Teja and Orlando were there and had created a perimeter for other students not to contaminate the area.

"Anything?" I asked Teja and he nodded.

"It's extremely faint but it's there, here its his lunch bag, take it's scent and focus," he told me and I let Rha-Es take over.

I was going out of my mind at this point and my wolf was more primal, he was the better of us two at this point.

I felt and watched him examine the bag, then caught the scent, it appeared as a thread, then another one, it was familiar, too familiar, another scent appeared, this one made even Rha-Es growl.

"Follow," my wolf ordered as we took off toward the main doors of the school, past them, at full sprint we were by the main doors in seconds, then we stopped.

Rha-Es sniffed the air again and I was almost in tears with my anger.

"It can't be... Maxine?" I whispered capturing their attention.

"What about Maxine Alpha? No one can find her since her last class after lunch," Teja desperately mentioned as my wolf and I switched places and he didn't say anything but rather his strong will was placed in me because a part of what had happened.

I knew now and it had my ex at the centre.

"Someone took them," Orlando finally spoke and I nodded.

"It's not just someone, it was Vincent," I whispered back and both their eyes hardened.

When I had Vincent in my grasp I would rip him apart piece by piece for even daring to touch my mate and Maxine, they were both beautiful souls and deserved nothing of what was being done to them.

"Come we hunt, gather the others," I ordered my Beta who nodded as I tossed my car keys to Teaj.

"Take my car, drive straight to your dad, inform him of what happened, he should be able to keep Amille's dad under control as he's told. Amille is his everything and him being kidnapped by my ex is the last thing he needs to be experiencing right now," I explained to Teja who nodded as the team gathered and we made our way into the woods.

I tore off my clothes and used a stretcher cable that I kept close to tie them to my leg.

Afterwards I shifted and a howl tore out from my jaws, a call, a call to my love.

I would howl and he would hear, I would die if I didn't find him and I would find him so we thundered into the woods at back break speed headed towards Vincent's home.

I needed something solid to track him with and learn more about his activities lately, he couldn't have kidnapped my mate by chance or Maxine, this was long in the planning.

So we pressed forward deep into my territory, I was master of the land now. I was it's Alpha.

"Take a team go to Maxine's house, make sure her parents are safe, leave a guard detail and find any information you can to track her," I ordered my beta who nodded, howled a bit and took off in another direction leaving me with five other wolves.

It didn't take time to get to Vincent's house and the moment we got close Rha-es grolwed, the stench of wolfsbane surrounded his house that it burned to breathe but also another scent, a rogue scent, it was too pungent not to miss, that was the thing with rogues.

They could be as clean as a whistle but the the scent on their bodies change when they are cast out especially when their wolves become more feral, as for other rogues with clear minds the scent is different not pungent at all.

'Everyone stop here, I'll go alone,' I called out to the five wolves.

'Respectfully Alpha, I won't let you go in there alone,' Finn one of my mate's acquaintances stated,

I could see the guilt in his eyes, the hurt, he missed my mate, they hadn't known him but they were devoted to him.

So I nodded as I covered my nose with my hand and walked to the front door.

The burn of wolfsbane was less at the front, I wondered how Vincent had even kept it a secret or the rogue in his house.

I raised my foot and kicked the door out of the way, it clattered away in pieces as a wolf stood up in alarm.

Finn didn't waste time lunging and tackling him down to the dining room floor, everything seemed to be in shambles, I wondered where Vincent's aunts were in all this mess.

'Speak,' Finn growled as he applied pressure to the rogue's neck who choked yet laughed.

'He knew you would come Alpha, he knew the first place you would come is here,' the rogue chuckled as I moved from near the door and to him, in one swift motion I raised my foot and set it straight on his leg in full force.

'No, ah,' he wailed.

'Fuck,' he cried out.

'You crushed my leg you neanderthal,' he cried out angrily, hearing him say that, what only my mate called me and knowing he knew where he had taken him, gave me rage.

So in an unnatural speed my hand went through his chest and right for his heart.

'You have a few minutes to live, I suggest you conserve those by telling me everything you know and by ignoring the current blood loss you're experiencing because of the leg I ripped off,' I told him with what I knew was a terrifying, fang filled grin that even made Finn flinch, so the rogue nodded eyes filled with tears.

'Vincent planned for months, he wanted you, he wanted this pack but when he couldn't get that, it made him nuts, we had always been friends since he liked playing on the dark side, it's how my mates and I knew him, he said he would get us to be part of a pack if we helped him.'

He coughed out blood, my hand still in his chest.

'Where did he take them?' I questioned.

'The old Bridgeton barracks, he said no one would look there since there were so many hidden bunkers but he's not in there, he went past them into the secret tunnel, there's a hidden bunker there, no other structures,' he explained as the light dimmed in his eyes.

'How many of your friends are there?' I demanded.

'Eight excluding me, you should know, he plans to kill you if he can't kill your mate, with the poison your mother used on your mate's father, it's no coincidence, we gave it to her.' he choked on more blood as his smile faltered, his last words made me bitter and angry, how could they do that to any one.

'Why take him, why take Amille?' Finn questioned.

'Don't you get it loyal warrior, to get the Alpha, you take the Luna but Vincent also took him for other purposes, after all blue blood is rare," the answer he gave made me feel a deep seated worry come to life.

Vincent had indeed been tracking my mate more so than I thought.

'Who else knows he's a blue blood?' I demanded.

'Just my mate and Vincent,' he whispered.

'Good,' I nodded to Finn and in one swift motion I tore out his heart, nine left.

'Alpha,' Finn began but my hiss made him silent as we walked out of the house.

'Burn it down,' I ordered the four other wolves who didn't hesitate to do my bidding.

I walked into the woods again, Finn a distance away from me as the house was up in flames.

I breathed in deep as the wind nipped at my skin but did nothing to soothe my anger.

'Alpha, uncle Calvin put a tracker in Amille's bracelet a long time ago, he didn't get into why but it pinned him in the old barracks,' Teja informed through the link.

'I know where they are, Teja. We're headed that way but don't make a move, Vincent is more dangerous than he's ever been., I projected.

'Alpha, what do you mean?' Tej's father questioned.

'The poison my mother used, she got it from rogues that are with Vincent and there are eight of them, we need to be careful,' I explained as a hum came through in response but nothing else.

So I shifted allowing my wolf to take more control.

I could feel it burn through my body, sheer will.

'Alpha,' Finn whispered as he fell to one knee and Rha-Es let out a howl.

It was different than before.

This was a call, to my Beta, to my warriors and to my love.

I knew he would hear it, I was coming for him.

[Max no] I used my cell-phone to shriek as Max threw her chips at me.

I had teased her about Teja having a crush on her but Teja being a year younger than all of us made her a bit awkward on the situation.

So instead of dealing with it, she was throwing food at me.

[I mean he's growing in nicely, has Beta blood, trust he'll be tall like uncle Kyra, so what's not to love, what a man] I argued again and she finally stood up to chase me all around the cafeteria causing a ruckus with the other students who were eating, also making them laugh.

"Come back here Amille," she shrieked.

[Oh hell no] I called out back and everyone laughed as I jumped onto a table then tried to run on top.

"Got you," she triumphantly growled as she stood by my only way down but I wasn't part of a wolf pack and mated to an Alpha for no reason, so I looked to the closest wolf and smiled.

"Oh no, you don't," Max dared as I put fingers in my mouth and whistled hard calling for their attention.

'Catch me.' I projected onto them with my mind and they stood up ready to do so as I jumped right into their arms.

"You sound, beautiful," the wolf complimented as he let me down.

'Thanks and thanks for the assist,' I replied mentally before taking off again leaving more people laughing but I didn't get far.

"Whoa, short-stack where are you running to."

It was so easy for him to grab me and throw me over his shoulder, he was larger than anybody in school and much stronger.

'Mate,' I whispered and I felt a smack on my bum when he walked back with me to our table.

"Haha, I caught you," Maxine danced in victory as I tried to wriggle out of Camryn's hold.

"Settle down and finish what you started," he ordered smacking my bum again then setting me down on his lap.

My cousin came over to us with food, well more of it for them.

"So what were you saying about Teja and I?" Max hissed narrowing her eyes on me.

"Teja what now?"

Speak of the wolf himself.

My younger cousin showed up and I smirked wanting to say something but Camryn thrust up and the feeling of his member as I sat on his lap made me silent as a lamb, blushing thoroughly.

I looked at him accusingly and he had a knowing smirk on his lips, damn his large, fantastically made face, I couldn't even say something bad, ugh I was loosing my grip.

So I sighed and settled down to feed my mate.

[Teja my bag please] I asked my cousin using my cell-phone and he grabbed it giving it to me, smiled then turned to face me with a wink before returning to his chat with Dean and Max.

[So how's been a whole week of classes, non stop assignments?] I asked my neanderthal as he groaned looking exhausted.

We might've split his pack workload between us but there was still so much of it, with school closing soon we had more assignments then exam week which was approaching soon, it was a lot to handle, especially for Camryn after his family practically imploded.

We had talked about his mom poisoning my dad and had agreed that it couldn't affect us, they were adults, they could figure things out on their own without us meddling.

My dad was a bit furious but after what I knew to be retail therapy and a lot of self love.

He finally just disconnected from the whole issue and told me to avoid the Luna and Alpha for a while, despite them being Camryn's parents, it was better they sorted the mess out without us involved.

'Drink,' I accosted Camryn as I fed him the home made food I had brought.

He was picky lately about the food we all ate, where and almost always made sure that I was with one of my friends or cousin when he wasn't around. it was the worried Alpha in him.

I understood, I knew the phase would pass, I wasn't going to be impossible and argue about his rules.

If it got excessive I would tell him and besides I already had the same system even before he ordered it, so I wasn't really bothered.

'You need a haircut,' I mentioned running my hand through his hair.

"I know but you also like pulling on it when we..."

I immediately clamped down his mouth, it caused everyone to laugh.

'I'm watching you mister,' I hissed as he made me lean down to give me a quick kiss when I removed my hand.

When we parted he whined and I knew he wanted more food so I fed him, like the child he wanted to be.

"Camryn I never thought I would see the day you would be this in love and having your toy feed you."

I knew only person who could be that venomous.

I turned to face Vincent as Camryn put his hand over me protectively whilst growling lowly toward Vincent.

"His mate, not his toy, not his fuckboy, not his downlow guy like you were. His mate Vincent. Now I suggest you wriggle back to where you came from you... you venomous toad, we're trying to have lunch here without you making us puke. Go away," Orlando had all but challenged Vincent to say or do something.

Once the Beta and my mate's ex-boyfriend were similarly tall but not anymore.

Orlando had bulked up like his dad and put on more height, like Camryn so he domineered over Vincent who stood in shock.

"Mate," he whispered as I smiled back at Camryn and caressed his cheek soothing his anger.

I never got to see Vincent leave as I grabbed another sub.

'Come on, open up for me, this is healthy stuff,' I coaxed as Camryn smiled and opened his mouth to take a bite.

He sighed in bliss as the food hit his taste buds.

"Angel baby, I could get used to this," he muttered and I hugged him with a chuckle.

I could feel his anger disappear as he rumbled in my hold.

After eating a lot, like something close to half my body weight, lunch finally came to an end.

"Thank you for the food," Camryn stated as we walked to class with our hands entwined like always.

Goddess I could drown in his eyes.

'Anytime boy scout,' I replied with the link like most times when we were together, he had told me my voice sounded like a melody and he would never get bored of hearing it.

I wanted to tell Camryn that something was different about me again, about my throat.

I had thought it was just growing pains all week but I knew something was different, I didn't want to worry him more so until I understood what was it, that was different I wouldn't say anything.

We first came up by my locker and I switched bags and books then he left me in AP Biology whilst he went for ordinary people biology, it made me laugh or rather amused me when I thought about it.

"Mister Luna, I'll see you at the field," he asserted sweetly placing a kiss on my hand.

'Charmer,' I teased before he took off and I walked into class.

"Ah my best student, glad you could  join us," the teacher addressed me and I chuckled taking my seat.

"So who can tell me the function."

Class went on as I listened in but at the back of my mind something was nagging me, a feeling, a sense of danger.

When class finished I was last to leave since I wanted to hand in three of my extra credit projects for my total score for exam week which honestly didn't surprise the teacher.

"You've already got the total needed to get a decent B+ with these you're just taking the exam to boost your GPA, I'm impressed," she commented and I smiled happily.

[Thank you] I signed and she nodded.

I bid her farewell and carried my stuff to my locker but I was surprised to find Vincent there and he didn't look friendly at all.

[What do you want?] I quickly typed on my cell-phone and he snickered.

"Oh nothing, just a friendly chat," he replied and I narrowed my eyes on him.

[Let's have that friendly chat when Camryn is around okay?] I asserted turning on my heel to look for any of my friends or my cousins.

"They aren't here and if you want poor Maxine to be just fine, I suggest you come with and don't even think about telling anyone with that mind link you so enjoy," he growled and I turned around to face a video of Max struggling, gagged in chains, oh no.

'What do you want?' I demanded.

"Now you're speaking my language," he replied as he forced me to drop my bag, since everyone had rushed to classes or practice no one was in the halls, just perfect.

We walked out to the front of the school, just by a car which was parked suspiciously close to the main gate.

When we got close I wasn't fast enough to dodge the needle that stabbed my arm and caused an excruciating amount of pain to burn through me which effectively knocked me out.

'Camryn,' that was my last call as finally the need to let go sunk in.

Howling Love - Chapter 26

"I'll call you everyday, even after this when I'm in the car but you do know with how strong our connection is, we might not even need any of these to call or text," I told my mate as he pouted standing by the large porch of his home.

He was wrapped in a blanket and tugging on half my waist begging me not to go.

'I still don't want you to go,' he whispered, his speech coming in through the mind link, something about his voice was mesmerizing, it brought a sense of peace inside me that I couldn't explain fully, maybe it was the Luna in him.

I didn't know but I was glad I could hear it now and if even he didn't have his voice, I would've still loved him.

"So you want me to stay, it's fine, I'll check on my siblings after school and on my parents if they're finally getting along," I stated and something seemed to shift in my mate's eyes.

"Oh, I think it's best you go home and check on them, how could I be so...." I stopped him right then because I knew he was going to say it.

"You are not and will never be selfish, it's only that I need to go home and check, if not I would be here with you, making even more love to you. I love you short-stack and don't ever think you're selfish, you hear me?" I stated my demand and he nodded with a sheepish smile.

"Good, now give your man some sugar," I accosted as he chuckled and leaned up to kiss me and I didn't have the heart to let go but I had to.

'I love you Camryn,' he spoke into my mind and I smiled, each time he told me that.

I just smiled, who would've thought, I would have a love like this.

So after some more coaxing and idle chat, I finally got into my car and drove toward home.

I was actually planning on giving it to my mate when I finally get permission from his dad to let him drive,

I was almost there, just not yet, I couldn't help feel uneasy when I neared home.

The flashing blue and red lights of the police enforcers and the distraught cries of my siblings got to me before I was even out of the car, so I sped up and screeched to a stop when I got close.

"Mom," I called out as she was being dragged out of the house.

"You have the right to remain silent, you have the...." one of the enforcers was stating her rights as she pushed and pulled away from them.

"You can't do this. I am the Luna of this pack, do you hear me?" she called out angrily.

"Camryn, help me," she yelled as I got close but three enforcers stopped me in my tracks.

"Your father the Alpha made this a special case, we normally don't interfere with pack affairs but he gave us permission to arrest whoever was responsible for Calvin Laurent's poisoning and she is."

As one of them relayed their information all I could hear were Carter's words in my head.

'Everything will come to light on it's own but I needed you well prepared for it.'

Had I prepared for this, truly grasped the fact that my mother could be capable of wanting to murder someone.

I could imagine myself in her position, another wolf threatening my marriage, my mating, yes the extremes I would have gone to but not murder, there was always a better way.

"Camryn, don't listen to them, Camryn, your father did this, so he could be with his bitch. Camryn," she screamed and all I could was freeze in place, watching and hearing a side of my mother I could've never imagined.

I was also conflicted.

I had the privilege of living with Calvin for something close to two weeks.

He was the warm, kind dad, with a motherly nature even my own mother couldn't contend with, he was funny and always had the best advice, he was just like my duck-face only older.

I could understand how my father was still attached to him, he didn't compete with anyone, he didn't have to, he was in his own league.

Yet, this was my mother, she had been misguided and here she was now being publicly humiliated.

I was sure by the end of the night, the pack would know my mother had tried to kill her husband's ex-lover.

"Has Mister... has Calvin laid any charges against my mother?" I questioned the last enforcer who wasn't in a quad car.

"No he hasn't but the arrest order was given. She should just give a statement and if Mister Laurent or the Alpha doesn't come forward to pursue the case we can't hold her. Young Alpha, the kind of poison she used, you saw it first hand, getting your hands on that stuff is not easy, however she got it we need to know if there is more and find a way to stop it before another case like this happens again," he explained and I nodded gratefully toward him.

I decided to check on my siblings first, make sure they were okay.

I called in someone to watch them before I took off toward the station where my mother was being held.

I'm sure my siblings were traumatized by what happened but I was also sure they would be okay.

They were wolf pups and as they got older, they would experience more gore that would out weight any of this. 

Parking wasn't hard to find, what was, were the enforcers who had brought my mother in.

"Excuse me..." I tried to speak to the receptionist but she was actually juggling more people already and I actually felt sorry for her.

Instead I tried to scent out the wolves and thank the Goddess, I found them.

"Alpha, what brings you here?" the wolf questioned as I approached her.

"My mother was brought in a short while ago, where are they holding her?" I demanded and she gestured me to follow her, so I did, we rounded a few corners then took a flight of stairs into what I was sure was the second floor of the precinct.

I could sense my mother the moment I was close enough along with the wolf that I spoken to before I got here.

"Mrs Summer, we just need your source for the toxin that's all. It's already been proven that you're the culprit who poisoned Mister Laurent at your son's birthday party. Eye-witnesses testified to seeing you give that glass to mister Laurent, along with your fingerprints being on the glass themselves," the wolf explained and I finally was deflated, there was no denying it.

"My source was a rogue wolf, he comes to the city every month or so, it was by chance we met but he helped me, he truly wanted to help me," my mother replied and I pulled back my hearing from the interrogation room.

I didn't want to hear anymore.

"After they interrogate her, then what?" I asked the she wolf next to me.

"Your father just ordered us to let her go, we just needed her source, the rest of her judgement is being carried out by the elders," she replied and I nodded waiting on the door to the interrogation room to open.

My mother was first to walk out and her surprise to see me wasn't lost on me.

"Camryn... I can explain," she started but I turned on my heel to leave.

"I'll give you a ride home," I growled out trying to keep my wolf in check.

The whole agonizing drive home was spent in silence between my mother and I.

I couldn't believe she would resort to murder, outward I knew I had no right to judge her actions but on the inside I was livid and I feared I would say the wrong.

Hurtful thing if I spoke, it was better if I didn't, she was my mother.

I owed that sliver of respect.

I parked by the sidewalk and got out, opened the door for her and we both walked toward the house but before we could go past the threshold the door swung open and we came face to face with my father.

"Dad... Dad where are you going?" I asked as he gave a venomous glare toward my mother and passed us.

"He's leaving me, I can feel it," she began to cry and all I could do was watch as she broke down,

I held my mother for the better part of her emotional breakdown but despite that, I couldn't honestly handle being around her.

What if Amille had taken that glass instead of his father, what would have happened?

So I left her in the lounge slightly better and raced upstairs, grabbed a bag and stuffed it with all my essentials and more clothes.

Then came down the stairs to face my mother.

"Camryn... Camryn please don't go," she begged but I didn't stop.

I couldn't be around her right now.

"I'm sorry mom, I just can't, I'll check in on you soon," I told her in a tight hug then we separated and I made my way outside to my car then my mates house.

It was the only place that I knew I could find peace.

When I got close and drove up the driveway, the garage  door opened and I saw my mate waiting for me by the adjoined door that led into the house.

He had been waiting for me, I parked next to one of his dad's cars and got out, he didn't say anything or ask me anything, just hugged me.

'I'm here, everything is going to be fine.' he comforted and I knew he was right.

With him, everything was going to be okay.

Howling Love - Chapter 25

I groaned, my body felt different, as if it had adjusted to something different.

I felt different in a good way, as I remembered what Carter had told me in the days he had visited before he left.

'When and if Camryn and I mated, something was going to change.'

But I couldn't focus on that.

I lay on Camryn's large chest, it rose and fell in rhythm with mine.

I could feel his heart hammering away, his skin ever so gently in contact with mine tingled, like sparks, reminding me of our bond but that wasn't all, it's the peace I felt from him even in his sleep.

I couldn't just feel myself, I could feel him.

It made me smile knowing the pounding I had gotten all night, then into the next day was well worth it.

We had made love, then we had what Orlando would call fucking, then we repeated all over again, neither of us could keep our hands off each other and I worried that it might lead to some consequences we weren't both ready for but I would gladly accept.

I smiled looking at him, my neanderthal as he roused awake on the mattress I'm sure we had broken.

"Hello my Choco-swirl," he whispered pulling me in for a kiss.

I just smiled, content with kissing him and laying my head on his chest.

"So I know now you had some pretty important stuff to tell me before we got distracted, you open to telling me now?" he mentioned and I sighed, was it really worth it, it would and could potentially ruin our camping experience and our bonding time.

So I quickly grabbed my cell-phone and typed.

[It can wait, I just want to be here with you] I told him and he smiled pulling me in for another kiss.

So we stayed like that, content until I felt him hard against my leg and I looked at him accusingly.

"I can't help it, plus you might just like who you're going at it with this time," he chuckled lowly, as I felt his member grow, shocking me even more.

When I looked into his eyes, they were a green I couldn't describe, with a canary yellow ring, it was his wolf, Rha-Es, that's what I called him anyway.

"Mate," Rha-Es spoke lowly but the primal urge and need I felt from him was undeniable.

Camryn was two beings in one, he was both wolf and man and this part of him like his human self was my mate.

So I leaned in, kissed him, then allowed him to enter me, I gave myself to his control because I was his, as much as he was mine.

After several long rounds of pleasure with the wolf half of my mate, he finally slumped down on top of me, his fangs that had bit down on my neck, as his warm seed exploded in me for yet another pleasurable moment that I couldn't remember, receded back.

"Thank you mate," Rha-Es whispered as our eyes met and he licked my mark, it had healed surprisingly faster, which proved what Carter had said to be true, yet again.

'I love you.'

Another wolf trait that I had acquired, being able to speak mentally, it made communication so much easier.

"And I love you," Rha-Es reassured me just as he gave over control to Camryn.

"Hope he wasn't too rough, he's gotten more excited lately," Camryn mumbled sheepishly and I chuckled knowingly.

'Oh he was rough but it's in his nature and I liked it,' I replied using the mind link which seemed to surprise Camryn.

"Duck-face. You're...you're speaking, your voice, it's beautiful," he whispered as we both cried happily, still crushing me with his weight. I accepted his hug and the many kisses that rained on my face.

"This is great, you won't need to type a lot now if you're among wolves," he cheered as again, kisses rained on me.

I was happy as well, truly happy because finally my mate could hear my true voice.

"Come on babe, we need to celebrate., he added lifting himself up and getting me to breathe.

I went to grab our clothes but he spanked me.

"No clothes, it's us and nature, no one around for miles, plus I need easy access."

He grinned like a Cheshire cat as he came up behind me and pressed himself flush on my body making me gasp.

'We need to eat first, stretch,' I pointed out and he snickered.

"Didn't you stretch enough with Rha-Es, he loves the name by the way," he mentioned and I was the one happily grinning.

"Look at you, far from the shy mess you were duck-face," he sweetly put across making me blush.

'Stop it.' I grumbled but all I got was a playful growl in return then tickling and licking.

"My beautiful mate, come," he asserted after grabbing a small blanket and throwing it over my body covering me.

He just walked out without a care and because I was sure no one was around I left it at that but if there had been someone.

I would've made sure he was covered, after all, he was mine and mine alone, the possessive part of me shocked me and I blamed being marked, yet I didn't care still, he was mine.

We spent the rest of the day well what was left of it with talking, planning a future together that we both saw with each other, we ate, we laughed, even made love outside surrounded by nature and the stars.

"So what do you think, five kids, four or more than six?" Camryn questioned and my jaw dropped.

'Who will be carrying this football team you want?' I demanded and he chuckled.

"You, my beautiful mate, I obviously can't carry,and even if that was an option which thankfully it isn't, you would still carry our kids, I want them beautiful, extremely nerd smart like their dad and artistic too," he listed off and I couldn't help smile as he rambled on.

It was in the littlest things that made me fall in love with Camryn, how he always managed to pick up on them and make sure I knew he appreciated them about me.

Our camping trip had to come to an end since Monday was fast approaching and we both had work and school schedules to get to.

I didn't want to leave our bubble but I knew we had to.

"We can always come back my love," Camyrn whispered as he helped me put my boots on.

We had agreed that we should pack in time and head back home in time but on the last bag I stumbled into Camryn, which somehow landed him on the passenger seat and well, we had sex,.

I wasn't complaining since it was really good as always.

I just couldn't help not miss the serene wild, from sleeping in the tent, the oasis pools, toasting marshmallows on the fire, it was a lot but I knew, we had to, so I nodded to my mate as he came with the rest of our stuff.

'What about the tent?' I asked Camryn.

"It stays here. Dean said to keep it here. I don't know what he plans to do with it," Camryn replied and my mind raced to a lot of things he could possibly do with it and all of them were with my cousin.

"All entirely possible," Camryn chimed in, having read my thoughts, it was annoying as it was convenient.

He had taught me how to close off from others and to open to one mind directly, that being his but since it was just us too, I found no reason and besides I could possibly be carrying his children now.

We were beyond being shy with anything or keeping things secret, plus I didn't want to keep secrets from Camryn, which was why, I knew when we got back, he had to know.

Finally after my incessant need to double check things which amused Camryn a lot, we were on the road heading back, the sun had set, the moon was just peeking through as I felt them, even before I saw them.

I felt them, connected to them in an intimate way, they were pack wolves, my pack.

"Welcome home Luna Amille," Camryn nudged me as I realized my role now,

I was mated to the next Alpha and somehow it partly terrified me,but with him next to me and my family, I was sure I could handle it.

[Dad we're home] I used my cell-phone to call out.

I knew he was home, I could weirdly feel it but I couldn't pin point exactly where

I was still adjusting to my new found sensitivity I guess.

"Hey sweetheart... Oh my goodness you got marked," he shrieked and I was sure he was being extra dramatic to be dramatic.

"Honey," he came forward and hugged me tightly.

"Finally. I thought it was never going to happen," he announced and I stood there dumbfounded, say what now.

'You wanted this to happen?' I questioned through the mind link and he nodded.

"Of course I did," he replied mentally too and that's when both of us realized it and I realized that ever since I realized I could speak with Camryn mentally.

I hadn't used sign language or my cell-phone in most of that time and as dad's eyes watered we both crashed into each other.

"Oh my baby," he whispered, it was overwhelming for both him and I.

We had always wanted this connection and now we did.

"Hey guys, you okay?" Camryn asked walking into the kitchen.

"Oh my beautiful boy, thank you so much," Dad asserted as he pulled Camryn into our hug muttering thank you over and over again, and indeed, I was grateful too.

He'd given us the best gift of our lives.

He wasn't telling me something or I was just paranoid, was it bothering so much that Camryn was in a way perfect.

He had doted on me, made sure I was comfortable, breakfast in bed being an added bonus, he was living at my house with dad and I.

It was bliss having him there, he was extremely manly that sometimes even dad found it endearing, towels and clothes everywhere, feet propped up on the table whilst watching a game but then never missed out on getting flowers for me and making all of us dinner, he was a true gentleman.

"Camryn," Dad yelled and I was sure it was the third time today.

"What did I tell you about leaving your drying towels on the floor," he fumed stomping outside where I was with Camryn.

He was fixing a car, well he was done fixing it after it poured oil on him when it first got here and his cheeks, plus those rock solid abs were smeared in it as was his overalls that were tied to to his waist.

Moon Goddess, I had a great view but besides that.

"Sorry Mr L," he mumbled looking away from the car and giving one of those lazy smiles making dad stop in his tracks deflated, who could stay mad at the large wolf who looked like every gay boys dreamboat.

"Fine," dad sighed wistfully, like I said... Camryn got away with a lot.

"So when are you guys leaving?" dad asked and I sat up in surprise.

I had totally forgotten that we were going camping tonight.

"Relax duck-face, I already have everything set," Camryn intercepted my already panicked state earning a chuckle from dad.

Since the time Camryn had come to live with us, I had gotten back to school and caught up with everything.

I painted and delivered all my orders, caught up with my share of pack papers that I ordered Camryn not to do, hung out with my cousins and I also had my sleepover with Max.

I was back in the loop with everything, except that nagging feeling that I couldn't explain whenever I saw Camryn.

I couldn't bring myself to tell him I was ready to be marked,or that I had given the enforcers the glass dad drank from and his mother's fingerprints were found on it but they were looking for more evidence.

It's why I had strongly advocated for this camping trip, so we could talk, lay everything on the table and have some sort of conversation about it all.

[You seem worried, what's up?] I turned on my heel with my hand on my chest as Dean showed up next to me.

I hadn't even felt him until he was close and my dad was nowhere to be seen.

"Hey man, you got what I asked for ready?" Camryn called out as he closed the hood of the car he was fixing.

"Definitely, I got it all sorted, you good?" Dean called back and Camryn gave him a thumbs up as he winked my way making me blush.

I knew he was going to take the car on a test drive, leaving me with Dean.

"You still haven't told him huh?" he mentioned and I groaned.

[I know I should've but I couldn't, I was hoping tonight we would talk] I replied with my cell-phone and Dean lightly snickered.

"You should've talked to him. Listen I know you feel weird about him being your first and I actually talked to him about it, not directly but after walking in on you two, in the kitchen, almost ripping each other's clothes off, that tells me both of you are ready and I'm sure you know that, just take the plunge, okay?" he reassured me as well as make me cringe.

The kitchen incident wasn't my finest moment.

[I know Dean and I promise I'll take your advice] I told him and he nodded.

I was a virgin, not a big shocker looking at my love life track record, even my first kiss, my epic kiss was with Camryn the day I woke up.

So it wasn't easy but I was sure about myself now, I just needed to have Camryn be sure to take the plunge.

After the test drive, Camryn came back just in time for a quick snack and a really much needed shower.

Dean had left a while ago with dad, the two were inseparable lately, but I knew it had something to do with Dean having unexplainable feelings for Orlando and what it meant when he turned eighteen next month.

I didn't want to meddle yet since I had my own wolf troubles but when I was needed I would.

"You ready cup-cake?" Camryn asks as he stood out side, we were packed and ready to go, everything from food to band-aids was in there, even a map for some reason, it was slightly amusing since we weren't leaving pack territory but I guess we needed to prepare for anything.

So I nodded, locked up the house and smiled toward my beautiful mate, he was gorgeous and he had a growth spurt recently which made him close to a 6'8/9 in height but I still loved him anyway. 

I hadn't told him but tonight I was going to, he needed to hear it, of course I was sure both of us were going to say it tonight, as I looked back at the house.

I couldn't help remember a day in the past week that I had caught Alpha Summer sneaking out of our house in the dead of night, of course I never questioned dad about it, he was a grown man.

I'm sure he knew what he was doing and I left it at that as Camryn's hand squeezed mine and my thoughts all centred on him.

We drove out into the woodland part of the pack territory and since it was so huge, it felt as if we had driven miles away from the house and the pack nucleus which honestly we had.

As the sun dipped behind us and the stars began showing, we got there and I was surprised to see a tent, and most of what we needed to camp already there.

[Wow, how did you] my fingers were stuck, I couldn't finish, all that packing I wondered why I hadn't seen a tent till now.

"Dean arranged it," Camryn replied and it clicked, that's what they had been talking about earlier.

[You sneaky wolf] I accused as he chuckled coming over to hug me and we leaned on the hood of the Spyder R8 he drove now.

"I wanted to surprise you," he muttered and I turned to face him with a smile, I definitely loved the surprise.

[Colour me surprised, I love it] I signed and he nodded with a grin, kissing my temple afterward.

[Camryn, I love you] there I said it.

I didn't use my phone. I used my hands and it surprised him.

[I know I hadn't said it and I'm sure that's what was holding you back but I love you Camryn. I feel more of what a mate should feel and I know in my heart that I love you, you mean the world to me and I am so grateful that the Moon Goddess gave me a mate like you, clumsy as a neanderthal but devoted and loyal like an Alpha] I finished wiping away my tears and he wiped away his own too.

The distance closed between us as he hoisted me up to his waist and we kissed.

This was different, it burned like a fire in me, eliciting a desire I never knew.

"I love you Amille. I love you my beautiful mate and I thank the Goddess too, each day of our lives."

I knew that it wasn't just Camryn who had spoken to me, but his wolf as well and I smiled.

[Can I meet him?] I asked Camryn who nodded, he first let me down and  took our stuff from the car, placed them in the large tent, I was patient enough until I wasn't.

[Come on Camryn, I want to meet him] I used my cell-phone to yell and he chuckled walking out of the tent naked.

I quickly looked away but a growl later I was facing him, all of him, all of his generously endowed self, he was going to rip me in two but I wanted it.

"I can't exactly shift in clothes and don't ever look away from me. I am yours, this body is yours," he asserted and I nodded.

Camryn took a few steps back and without warning only the slight break in bones, a few seconds in, he shifted, like I had seen before, a monstrous wolf stood before me.

I wasn't afraid, he was my mate and I closed the distance and hugged him, well tried to since he was really huge and I was still my tiny self.

A content rumble came from him as our heads met, I rubbed his neck, feeling his rough fur but most of all I'm sure I saw the same shine in his eyes that I'm sure I held.

I couldn't say anything but I was sure he knew my love.

We stayed for an hour like that, his body curled around mine, tentative licks and barks, even a short run, until his snout passed by my neck and slowly wolf turned to man.

I gulped down hard realizing that Camryn was aroused or maybe it was me.

[I need to tell you something] I stated but he stopped me as his lips caught mine in a kiss that made sure I knew the arousal I felt wasn't Camryn's at all.

"Not now," he whispered as we stumbled into the tent.

I couldn't get a good look as I was struggling with my clothes and Camryn tore them off, his mouth sucking on my neck, kisses that left a trail of shivers on my naked body.

He lay me down on the mattress, caressed me, more rather worshipped me with his tongue, tasted, nibbled on my flesh making me moan unashamedly.

I didn't know what to do so I let him take the lead, as his lips found the hem of my shorts and his eyes turned to me, I nodded then, I wanted this, I wanted him.

[I give you my all, my consent] I signed and there it was, as if all the barriers were torn down and my back arched in pleasure.

"Hey duck-face," I greeted my mate as he turned to face me with a smile, it was a reassurance that he was okay, he was healing,.

I couldn't mistake that familiar glow he had around him that drew me in and made my wolf yip happily in my head.

He was absolutely whipped with our mate and honestly I was too, even more so, he was just perfect.

I had been so scared when I thought I had lost him, terrified when he wouldn't wake up and each day after he woke up and his progress in healing showed.

I had a sense of relief more and more, he was alright.

I would always make sure he was alright.

He had been in the infirmary for two weeks, he could've been discharged earlier but I convinced him otherwise so he could heal without too much fuss and I was glad he agreed, it put me at ease much more, even his dad agreed.

"So he's the only one you see in here worth greeting," Carter glared lightly and I chuckled rubbing the back of my neck.

"Sorry but he's just, he's my all and hello Carter," I replied sheepishly as Carter awed.

"You two are just too cute and I forgive you Camryn," he retorted as I came over to sit next to my giggling mate.

Carter had decided to stay until my mate was okay and to make sure Calvin was too, he had also wanted to find out who poisoned Calvin in the first place, whether he's found out or not, he hasn't told anyone yet.

"I'll give you two a minute and Camryn, I'll need a word alone later," he mentioned and I nodded.

Carter was blindingly beautiful.

I hadn't met many wolves I could say were like that except my mate of course but when I told him, he wouldn't believe me but that didn't matter, I would always be grateful to him, as he left I turned to my mate and closed the space between us, kissing the daylight out of him, it left me feeling elated and him blushing madly.

"My beautiful strong mate, how has your day been?" I questioned grabbing my bag and taking out his favourite food and snacks.

[It just got better, now that you're here] he replied in his language causing me to grin but....

"I would be here all day if someone didn't force me to go back to work and to school," I stated and he scoffed.

"Just because my life is slightly on hold, doesn't mean yours has to be," he argued and I nodded.

He was right, I would worry less about him if I was occupied but I had proven to myself that despite being occupied with the pack, school and the shop, he was always on my mind, always.

"You're right but today you get discharged. I asked your dad if I could stay with you guys for a few days, until you're completely back on your feet," I told him and he narrowed his eyes on me.

[You just want an excuse to be close to me. I am back on my feet] he argued and I knew my face was showing all my guilt in getting caught, he was right, it was just an excuse to get close and be close until my wolf was okay with the distance.

"Guilty but I would still make sure to get close duck-face," I told him and he chuckled leaning in to kiss me.

I didn't know if I could survive without these kisses.

[Come, have something to eat with me, I can't finish all this on my own,  you bought a lot] he signed with a knowing smirk on his lips and yes.

I had bought enough to eat with him, I was guilty of that too.

So we ate together as I told him about my day and he told me about his.

I couldn't resist not taking in every detail of his face, his body, he mesmerized me in a lot of ways and since he woke up.

He had decided to let his curls grow and that in itself elicited a burning need with my wolf to lick him, mark him and have him be ours body and soul but I had to wait, until we were both ready for that plunge.

A knock on the door alerted us to Carter's return with all our friends in tow, he was giggling and I could see the blush on Teja as he walked behind him.

"Aww, look at you two, heart warming," Max stated as she came over and hugged my mate then myself.

"Sup man, my favourite cousin," Teja greeted me then practically threw himself on my mate, snuggling next to him.

"You're such a child," Max commented as Amille and Teja were set in a conversation.

"Camryn that word, sweetheart, I already signed your discharge forms, your dad will be here soon to get us home, so get ready," Carter instructed as both my mate and I nodded.

I placed a kiss on his lips before getting up to follow Carter but not without helping him stand which he just shook his head at.

I couldn't help it and I was glad he understood.

"Why do I feel like you're about to give me great news and horrible news," I spoke first and Carter snickered.

"Maybe but it's not all bad," he replied as we found ourselves outside in the small park next to the infirmary.

"Camryn I'm just going to say it, you and Amille need to mate, sooner than later, I know you're not ready or you are and maybe Amille is too but you won't know until you do, as you know I'm a gifted wolf, I feel more than what others feel, see more," he began explaining and I held myself from questioning him until he was done, so I nodded.

"Your wolf according to Amille is monstrous and I had the privilege of seeing it as well and true to that, it is, maybe it's fate or the Moon Goddess I don't know but you and Amille being brought together wasn't mere coincidence. When Calvin adopted him, he was just a babe, a wolf pup we thought would turn at thirteen but he never did and he never had a voice, which led us to thinking he was human but that's not the case. Amille has wolf blood, blue blood to be specific, it's how wolfsbane burns him but not as much as us and his resilience is far much more than any human could have."

My words were stuck in my throat but did Amille know. What did this mean for us? what was it that was wrong?

"I told Amille a couple of days ago and he revealed to me that his dad had told him before about him not being human but rather wolf blood and he had taken the news pretty well but what I'm getting at is in order to fully grasp what's in his blood he needed a strong wolf mate, one that could potentially give him his voice and somehow we get to know or he gets to know what his blood gift is," Carter concluded and I nodded.

I wasn't dumb enough not to know what he was getting at.

We had many cases in the pack where one mate had a physical impairment and when they mated and marked each other, the impairment was healed.

So if I were to fully mate with Amille, there was a possibility that he would be healed and have his voice, this was great news.

"I know right?" Carter suddenly chimed in reminding me of his own gift, he could tell how I felt.

"That's not all. I haven't told anyone yet but I needed you to be prepared for it. I'm sure you're aware about your dad and Calvin's past and I'm sure it's apparent to everyone that they are still in love despite your dad being mated to your mom, sometimes the Moon Goddess makes mistakes, accept that and most of the times she's a great match maker."

We both chuckled and I nodded for him to continue.

"Your mom isn't exactly thrilled with this and I'm sure you know that too and it might lead her to do some unsavoury things..." he added and my mind clicked on one thing, she couldn't have.

She wouldn't dare but my mother could, she very much could.

"I need you to promise me not to rush over there and accuse her of anything. Everything will come to light on it's own but I needed you well prepared for it," he asserted and I nodded reeling my mind away from all the bad thoughts.

My mate and wolf were a great help to that.

"Thanks Carter," I whispered and he hugged.

"Oh sweetheart, it's not easy I know but you'll be fine, everything will be okay trust me," he muttered and I sighed hugging him back, feeling a sense of peace set in my bones.

After we talked a bit more, we made our way back into the infirmary as pack enforcers who were also part of Bridgeton police were leaving my mates room, it made me wonder why they were here.

"They were questioning Amille about the incident at the party. Your dad reported the incident and urged them to take action," Carter explained as we walked in, he was brilliant, I guess it was easier for him to discern a lot of things being an empath but I didn't envy him, feeling what others felt could be a burden.

[All done] the familiar voice of my mate's cell-phone called out reminding me of what Carter had told me, so I took the first step as I stood next to him.

"Wanna go on a date with me, just us like always?" I whispered and he nodded with an excited smile, I was about to lean down and kiss him as...

"Whoa, whoa, not with dad in the room," his dad walked in making everyone laugh.

"Come on all of you, let's go, especially you two," he ordered as Amille and I laughed following everyone out.

"Finally out of there, how does it feel?" I asked my mate who was still grinning.

[Great] he replied as I lifted him onto my back and we both left happier than ever.

I don't remember much after I passed out, probably from the blood loss, the pain and exhaustion.

I really needed to get back to training, if Alpha Lincoln was there he would've beaten me half to death for making a mess of killing that rogue.

It made me chuckle in my own inner thoughts, yet as the darkness subsided.

I knew I wasn't dead, I was very much alive, warm, comfortable with the sting of too much lemon and lavender sanitizer in my nose but above all, a large hand held my own, it was familiar, it was home.

My eyes fluttered open, the sting of too much light causing me to flinch and close them again until I could flutter them open readjusted to the light.

Machines beeping, slow steady breathing and my own heartbeat hammering away in my chest brought me calm as my eyes found Camryn.

He looked tired, pale and I'm sure it was because he was worried about, having had the feeling back in my body.

I squeezed his hand and he roused awake with a slight gasp.

"Amille, you're awake," he mumbled in relief as his eyes found mine and he cried, enveloped me in his arms and cried and so did I.

I had thought I'd lost him too, before our happy ever after even began.

"I'm so sorry, I should've been looking, I shouldn't have looked away, I should've protected you, forgive me Amille," he begged as tears fell down his cheeks.

I couldn't say anything but I quickly moved to wipe away his tears, when the rogues attacked, he took on the bulk of them alone, he had gone through more than I did and in the end I may have fought a nasty piece of rogue wolf but he had protected me.

He had kept me safe, so I did the one thing to assure him that I did forgive but there was nothing to forgive.

I kissed him, it was slow, until it wasn't when we both registered what was happening and so we kissed, passionately, a reassurance that didn't need words, tenderly until we had to break apart for air.

So he grabbed the jug of water, poured some for me and I drank but my thirst was already quenched by that kiss.

I may have been waking up with a level head but my world was spinning, that kiss, I would always remember.

[You protected me much more than you think, there is nothing to forgive, I'm only sorry that I worried you, so don't beg me to forgive you Camryn, there is nothing to forgive, you did nothing wrong, I'm here, we're here, alive and safe, thanks to you] I told him sincerely as he nodded with a goofy smile and made a move to hug me again.

"I'm so happy you're awake, we've all been worried, your aunt actually drugged your dad so he could rest," he informed me with a snort and that made me realize a lot if things.

I passed out whilst we were hours away from Bridgeton, how was I back, how was my dad okay, how was I even here, what had happened.

"Calm down duck-face. I'll explain everything, or he will," Camryn calmed me instantly as the door to my room swung open and the one person I hadn't expected to see walked through, behind him, all of my family.

"Finally woke your ass up, huh," Carter Defray Lynn stated with a chuckle as my jaw dropped, he was here, how was he here.

"Hello my love," Dad whispered as both he and Carter hugged me and I couldn't help cry, one of my favourite people in the world and my father were hugging me, they were here for me, it felt like a dream yet it wasn't.

"Don't you ever do that to us again," Orlando chided sternly as after Carter and my dad separated from me, he, Teja, Max and Dean all crushed me in their hugs.

When they left my uncle got me all to himself and placed kisses all over me.

"My favourite nephew, you're alright, why would you give me a heart attack."

Dramatic as ever, my aunt was last to hug me then my uncle all over again making everyone chuckle.

"Alright everyone, lets give him some space, I'll give him a quick check up then we can all fill him in on the week he's been unconscious," Carter asserted and everyone listened, well except my mate who Carter just nodded to and did my check up.

"Your vitals seem good, your back and arm wounds are healing rather nicely, I placed that sab we made together, you won't even know there were claws marks there," he explained with a motherly chuckle, it was so warm and loving, that's who Carter was, everyone couldn't resist being around him and Goddess he was beautiful.

[So how long do I need to be in here?] I asked using sign language and he sighed with crooked smile.

"A week give or take. Your leg is healing great with the accelerant but if you had been mated. I wouldn't even be recommending these few days before you're discharged," he slyly replied making me blush as he winked toward my mate.

"Carter," Dad protested earning laughter from everyone and Camryn who just kissed my hand making me melt.

Moon Goddess... I had fallen in love with him.

"What? We all know its true, anyway two days in the hospital, then you can go home, in a cast, your leg should be fully healed in two weeks but you keep applying the accelerant, a week and half but I know you, you'd rather it just heal without," he added and he still knew me so well but with my need to get better, I might just take the accelerant maybe this one time.

So I nodded to his assessment and he clapped happily. 

"Now, everyone lets fill him in but first Camryn, tell your mate what happened, we'll wait outside," Dad exclaimed and I was grateful for the moment of peace before I was bombarded with everything.

"I'm so happy you're okay," Dad whispered, placing a kiss on my forehead then walked out closing the door behind him.

"I don't know where to begin, maybe after I grabbed you and put you in the car, all my first aid training came pouring back into my head, I used the bandages and our clothes to put pressure on your wounds, then reset your broken leg, used a lot of bandages and sticks to make a makeshift cast so it would stay in place, there was so much blood. I was terrified but then when I realized a lot of it wasn't your own. I breathed a sigh of relief but it wasn't enough, you had lost a good amount of blood. I drove back like a maniac. I'm pretty sure I caused more accidents," he chuckled sadly and I squeezed his hand to reassure him.

I was there and I was okay.

"I didn't know what to do, your dad needed help, you needed help, then I remembered you mentioned Carter before we left, so I took your phone, glad I knew the password," he paused, my password was actually his name.

"Searched through your contacts and found Carter's number, when it connected I was an hour away from Bridgeton, I told him everything that had happened and for sure he promised to come right then, two hours after I arrived he was also speeding to the hospital, he took control of the situation, the doctors here had you stabilized but you were fading in and out of consciousness. I had also failed to see that your should was dislocated, but it was an easy fix with Carter, he made the healing solution for you and your dad plus the accelerant, I had never seen any one whip up a healing drug that quickly but he did, and he saved both of you," Camryn concluded and I was at a loss for words.

I was grateful for Carter, healing me and dad wasn't all that grand but being able to drive from where we were to Bridgeton after having fought those rogues.

Camryn had been a true hero, to me and I'm sure dad felt the same.

So I pulled him in and kissed him all over again, my truest thank you.

[Thank you] I signed whilst wiping away my own tears, without him, without his quick thinking my dad wouldn't be awake or happy neither would it be the same for me.

"You're my mate Amille, I would go through any trial to make sure you're alright," he whispered back as a mutual understanding passed between us, one that needed no words.

He finally filled me in on the rest of the week which was uneventful as everyone was baiting their breaths as for when I would wake up.

I was glad to be awake, to have my father awake.

So with more than an hour of me and Camryn bonding, I patted the space next to me so he could rest.

I was here now, I was safe, he could rest easy.

"Hmm, good job making him sleep, he wouldn't move from your side, and we only succeeded once in getting him to fall asleep, he's extremely strong, and with maturity I'm sure he'll be a rival for even Alpha Savage Heathen," Carter stated as he walked in and I smiled, then looked at my mate.

I knew the first time I saw how monstrous his wolf was, he would be a great alpha.

"So how have you been, tell me everything, your calls are never enough and now I know why and what is up with alpha Summer, when I met him with your dad all I could feel was a literal explosion of love," he began just as dad walked in.

Carter was a gifted wolf, an empath, which made his sort of a rarity, so no wonder he could feel alpha Summer's love for my dad.

"We'll talk later. I know you got tea for me," he whispered with a wink my way and I chuckled.

"Up to your mischief already I see," Dad teased as Carter gasped feigning shock.

"Me, never," he argued as dad came over and sat on my side of the bed.

"I'm so proud of you, you risked everything for me," he exclaimed and I hugged him, I would always risk it all for him, he was my dad.

"You're grounded for the next month," he added.

I yawned lightly, stretching on the large bed Camryn and I had slept on.

The comfort couldn't be compared to the one I had at home but it was nice and it was my first time actually sleeping next to Camryn, bodies entangled in a mess of limbs.

The sun was shining outside, I knew it was a bit past early morning and yes... Camryn and I had agreed to move at first light but I knew he needed the rest.

Between driving, trekking and mountain climbing I knew he needed the energy.

It was evident in the way he ate half of the food at open buffet table, then after his shower and I massaged him.

He was out like a light, so I let him rest, I needed him to and though I didn't want to wake up, we had to.

"Come back to bed, lay with me a minute then we'll wake up," he grumbled pulling me back and I landed on his chest but then without total control of how I laid down my leg found its way down onto his crotch.

I always knew Camryn as a wolf was well endowed but the sheer size of his manhood was ridiculous, I was sure when we mated, it would split me in half or carve me in half.

"Well... it seems like you found your way to the treasure trove," he chuckled and I blushed hiding in his neck.

"Don't be shy my Choco-moose. It's all yours and no one else's. I know you aren't ready yet but it's just hard for me to control especially since you're here with me in almost nothing. My wolf is clawing to mark you but you aren't ready for that. So just ignore it and lay with me," he explained and I felt guilty.

He was right about me not being ready but at the same time, I felt as if I was depriving him and myself of something essential to both of us and somehow it made my non-readiness obsolete.

I wanted Camryn, all of him, he would and was my first everything and I wanted to experience everything with him, yet when I want to take the the plunge something like this happens.

The Moon Goddess knew how I couldn't ignore it.

I wanted to yell at Camryn about how? He expected me to ignore it but it was that huge.

In those thoughts I also made up my mind, once we were done, back at home and dad was safe, we would go on that weekly trip and I would let him mark me, whatever it took.

"Thank you, visit again," the lady who had helped us check in waved us off after we had gotten ready, fed and satisfied with going up the last leg of our trip to get the ingredients we needed.

Camryn was his usual happy self and it was infectious which kept me from thinking too much about dad.

We had both agreed not to contact home because it was easier to get work done, easier to focus... then head home knowing we had one task left.

So I just held his hand tightly, we were going into rogue territory, somehow I could just feel it as we entered.

"If you're to keep north on this road for a couple more days you would find yourself in Sand-Bury City where the Shadow Creek Pack is found, then if you go east from there, a couple more days, or by plane you'll be in St Maine City, where the Ryeland Pack is, see as these packs build and grow, rogues have been pushed back or out more, that's why they're concentrated here, there's a rogue town a day from here, luckily we aren't getting that far since we're about an hour from the Oakwood and the red thorn," Camryn explained and I knew I had stars in my eyes, he seemed positively more masculine when he explained, and it had me blushing.

"What are you thinking in that naughty head of yours?" he nudged me as we got our gear and prepared ourselves for yet another trek into the woods.

[Nothing] I wanted to dismissively deny but my cheeks sold me out.

"Yeah right, trying to be a cute and cuddly like that," he chuckled ruffling my hair.

[Hey] I protested using my cell-phone and he chuckled even more.

"I'm sorry mate but you're just too damn adorable not to mess with," he asserted pressing kisses into my hair making me mushy all over again.

I was hopelessly falling for an idiotic Alpha wolf.

"Come on duck-face," he accosted as I breathed deep, here's to everything.

I sent a silent prayer to the Moon Goddess as we got deeper into the woods that buzzed with life.

I truly hoped we didn't get car jacked but with Camryn's security I'm sure that car wouldn't start.

So we got further in, with Camryn more alert than ever, his nose flared up then he proceeded to grab my hand, we crouched behind a tree as a bear, almost as large as my dad's wolf passed by.

"That's a wild grizzly, not the friendly cuddly ones. I can scent out wolves, they passed through here two days ago with how faint the scents are, we should be clear enough," he explained as I exhaled deeply, grateful to have my own top predator protecting me.

We trekked for close to an hour and when I got the first glimpse of the red thorn plant I was elated and further past it in the distance stood a white oak tree, in full bloom, it was beautiful.

"We head straight for the red thorn plant, you extract it and the saplings you want, I'll go by the white oak, get the bark and the saplings so we can plant our own trees back home," he suggested and the last part of his statement made me smile.

I didn't want to cry so I held myself but having him call it that, having him call it home for both of us.

It made me happy, I had never truly belonged with my disability but with him, I did so I nodded eagerly and we broke into a sprint toward the red thorn plant.

Once I got there, I was on my knees making quick work of plucking the leaves I needed, after filling bag after bag, I carefully took the saplings, cutting as many as I could without damaging them and when I knew I had sufficiently taken enough, I placed them all in my pack.

Camryn also came back, his eyes seemed unsettled as he sniffed the air again.

"Shit," he cursed lowly as in the distance I heard what I knew was a wolf call.

[They're onto us aren't they?] I frantically signed my question and he nodded.

"Don't worry, I'm here. I'll protect you." he smiled as he stripped right then and in a matter of a few seconds Camryn stumbled backwards then flipped into the air, what landed on it's paws wasn't Camryn, it was the largest wolf my eyes had ever seen.

I had seen a few of those so far but Camryn's wolf gave them all a run for their money, he was monstrous and yet still the same as his wolf's tongue slobbered drool all over me, as I was licked without a care, I'm sure all I smelt like now was wolf saliva.

I placed my forehead on the wolf's head, this was also a part of me, not just Camryn but his wolf and I had fallen in love instantly.

As we parted he laid down and gestured I get onto his back, I grabbed both out bags, tied then onto my body and held on for dear life because the moment I was secure.

Camryn's wolf was flying through the woods, all I could see was a blur of trees and woodland, what could have taken an hour to and from the area we were in, I'm sure we covered the distance in minutes as a howl broke through the air again, yet when Camryn's wolf picked up more speed it sounded like a distant whisper, and soon enough we broke through the tree to where we parked, the downside was two fully naked men were waiting there,  by just looking at them, I knew they were rogues.

I held on tighter as Camryn's wolf jumped into the air, tackling one to the ground, he didn't even get time enough to shift as his trachea was torn out, the second one shifted and stalked closer.

I got off  Camryn's back, ran to hide by the car as two predators lunged for each other, the fight didn't seem to last long as a whine and bone breaking later all I could feel was the wolf I knew I was mated to.

Before I could get up and get to Camryn jaws clamped down on my legs causing an inaudible scream to escape my lips, the straps of my bags broke, as the wolf thrashed me around on the barely grassy woodland floor.

I knew smother wolf had shown up and Camryn was fighting it, leaving me to deal with this one as it let go of my jaw and lunged for my head.

I rolled away in time, forced myself to my feet even if I knew the bone was probably broken, pulled out a large enough knife from my back and stood ready to defend myself, I wouldn't die.

I wouldn't let a rogue kill me before my dad woke up, so as it lunged for me.

I ducked and rolled to the side, the rogue crashing into a tree which splintered, I didn't waste time gathering most of my strength and stabbing it's neck.

I pulled the knife out as to stab again but it's claws and paw found me first, throwing me the floor again with claw marks that bled on the side of my back and arm.

I didn't waste time laying there, I knew the rogue would kill me if I listened to the pain, so I grabbed my knife and with the wolf lunging for me again.

I crouched low, veered to the right dodging it's claws, moving quickly I rolled under it and with all the strength I had struck its chest, carving it out, blood splattered on my face but I didn't stop stabbing, as it turned to attack me again.

I rolled away in time but my leg failed me, it was indeed broken, so I fell to one knee, the predator didn't stop even after I knew I tore its insides apart, with one last lunge from both of us.

I went to plunge my knife straight into it's skull from it's jaw up, it's clawed paw also made contact with my other shoulder, slicing through my clothes and ripping into my skin but I knew for sure even as I was tossed away the blood that splattered onto my leg wasn't mine, it was the his.

"Amille," I heard Camryn call out, anguish in his voice as his footsteps created thuds in the ground, I knew I was fading in and out of consciousness.

"Come on my love, come on Amille, stay with me, stay with me my love, it's going to be alright, just don't leave me."

'I could feel his tears wet on my cheeks as finally the blood loss got to me.'

It was where we would find the next ingredient needed to help his dad heal and get him to wake up so we could celebrate Amille and my mating, it was disheartening not just for my mate but for me as well not having him there.

Calvin was the best dad I knew, it was true that I hadn't known him for a long time but the time I had known him, he was a ray of sunshine, he was kind, stern like a father, gentle and soothing like a mother, he was a balance, something rare in wolves but like my mate, he was unique.

I could understand why my father still loved him.

I don't know how their relationship would affect all our lives, even after this, I knew things wouldn't be the same, in my family that is.

I was determined to catch whoever did this to Calvin but a feeling that kept irking me inside told me the person was closer than I thought, which might be true, yet I couldn't focus on that now.

I needed to focus on getting my mate through this safely so we could get what we needed and head back home to heal his dad. I was still mind blown to know about a big part of my mate I hadn't gotten to know yet, he fascinated me, kept me on my toes, yet that's how exactly I wanted it.

Amille centred me, gave me a perspective beyond myself, I was in love with him, I truly was and I knew from here on out, I would always love him, he was my Moon Goddess given mate but I had loved him before he was that.

So I smiled as the song finally ended and I squeezed his hand gaining his attention.

"We need to get to the mountain before nightfall, I've been here before with my dad, it's about thirty minutes hard trek, so if we leave now, we can come back in time to get to the lodge, rest and by day break tomorrow we get the last two ingredients." I explained and he smiled.

[Thank you for doing this with me Camryn, I don't know what I would've done without you] he replied in his language and I leaned over to hug him, then place a kiss on his forehead, you could say I was waiting for that epic moment when he finally kissed me and besides we had more pressing issues to get handled.

"For you, anything, now come on," I asserted after breaking apart from our hug.

[I'm glad you took my advice on letting us continue tomorrow rather than continue in the night, the woods are creepy] he stated with a naughty smile and I narrowed my eyes on him.

"Your advice huh, I seem to recall you're the one who wanted to travel at night, and the woods are my home." I retorted and he snorted to my statement.

[Then you're creepy] he added and I held my hand to my chest, with my jaw dropped.

"Rude, Choco-moose and aren't you the one mated to the creep-ster then, one would say you're the creepy one, wanting to get it on with a woodland predator." I shot back and his jaw dropped.

[How dare you] he didn't physically say it yet I could tell even with signs as he ran forward and leapt onto my back trying to throw a fit which I only saw as cute.

"You know this massage you're giving me would be much more pleasant if you went lower and a tad bit faster," I suggested wiggling my eyebrows, he blushed then turned to hiding in the crook of my neck, it was adorably how I could easily do that to him.

[I hate you] he grumbled silently trying to get off my back but I smacked him, as I held him up by his bubbly butt earning more colour on his cheeks.

"Hold on choco-swirl," I mumbled and he wound his arms around my neck, holding on a little tighter as I took off in a burst of speed, sprinting fast, over logs and the low hanging shrubs, it didn't take long to get to our destination and little energy from me since I needed a release anyway, nightfall would come soon.

I needed my mate safe as I promised to keep him safe.

"So what exactly is mountain ash?" I asked my curly headed mate after putting him down.

[You see that misty cloud above, it mixes with the natural rock up there, humidity and mother nature eroding the outer layer and over time it's further erodes until it mixes with other elements which make up the rock, to create a dusty ash but because the composition is unlike the soil we are standing on, mountain ash is rich in elements because of it's source and that's why it's used in many herbal solutions, one of those being a binding agent] he explained in what I knew was a broken down version so I could understand better.

"Okay, seems I need to keep to cars and you be a nerdy genius," I teased and he smacked my bicep, then turning away from me noise pointed high to seem as if he's mad at me.

"Come here," I growled lightly, he squirmed but at this point he knew it was useless.

I tickled him with my now five o'clock shadow, then went on to rain kisses on the back of his neck which did the trick in making him laugh.

[Would you put me down] he signed yet even as he didn't say it.

I could place the whine, I tickled him one last time before placing him back next to me, grabbed the containers and walked up the slope to begin my climb of the actual mountain since we were a distance away at the base.

[Be careful] I heard him use his phone to call out and I held up... a thumbs up then proceeded to climb.

I was grateful for the rock climbing lessons Kendra had forced on me, now they had come in handy as I made short work of climbing up the mountain until the air was thin and my mate was now almost a speck down on the ground.

I knew I found what I was looking for when I spotted glistening mountain dust by the mountain side, quickly collected a lot of it since Amille could possibly need more to use after this, three large containment valves later I was done, taking in the view, it was breathtaking as the sun was setting, it also made my internal alarm go off.

I needed to get down before my mate started to worry, after all we were in the wild area, despite no rogues prowling this far into the wild, it didn't mean other animals didn't, such as the coyote that howled in the far distance, it gave me the motivation to get down even quickly.

It took almost an hour climbing up and down the mountain.

I wondered what my mate had done to pass the time, damn that sounded good to say, no wonder why it kept ringing in my head, Amille Laurent, was my mate, as I got closer I couldn't see him by the spot I left him which set in a panic, causing me to rush down even more, and the closer I got to the base.

I searched for his scent, he was closer than my mind had raced to think.

I finally caught sight of him by a tree, gathering herbs, I couldn't tell what they were but I knew he did.

"Hey short-stack, miss your man?" I called out and he whipped around with the brightest smile ever, despite having occupied himself with what he was doing, I knew he would've been worried about me.

[Hey, you're back, I was so worried] he stated crashing into me, I hugged him back with a chuckle.

"I would never leave the brains in this relationship, after all I need you to lead me on, I've got sparkplugs missing." I comforted and joked making him laugh.

[Idiot] I heard his phone call out.

"Your idiot creeper," I corrected as we both laughed again.

"Come on, let's get back, rest a bit, it's been a long day," I suggested as he nodded and we trekked back to the car, the tasks were getting harder, acquiring what we needed was still a priority despite it being hard.

Howling Love - Chapter 19

Camryn's car came to a screeching stop as he parked haphazardly by my house, just outside the garage, luckily he hadn't driven past the driveway into dad's flowers, or otherwise there would've been hell to pay when he woke up.

"Go, I'll get our stuff and follow you," he asserted reassuringly and I nodded, got out of his car and sped walk to the front door, used my key card and got in, I knew what I needed to do first in order to understand the poison that had been used on my dad, my only worry was the time and the ingredients needed to make the antidote.

I didn't have enough of either but I had faith and determination.

So I made my way up to the second floor, then the attic where I knew dad had set up the lab equipment because he was making patents for his new lotion, luckily everything seemed pristine, leave it to my dad to never make a mess.

Quickly I grabbed vials, tubes and solutions, setting the equipment I needed to separate the toxin from the blood and analyze.

"Whoa, I feel like I've just entered a whole other part of your life," Camryn muttered behind me and I scoffed, of course he would find something sweet to say to me about this.

"Need help?" he asked as I placed the last vial where I needed it.

"Yes, check the containers in there if we have any of these ingredients?" I told him whilst typing on my tablet what he needed to check.

"Oakwood sap, really?" he scrunched up his face like always when he was skeptical but I nodded.

[Yes, really] I assured and he accepted going to the neatly placed containers.

After two hours of waiting, with Camryn keeping me from letting my mind wander off with his ridiculous stories of his almost accidents, it was finally ready.

"What are we looking at exactly?" he asked as we stood side by side viewing the results on one of the lab tablets.

"Wolfsbane, redwood, concentrated silver, a variation of snake venom and wait, this marker is for ver-vain but mixed with something else, widowswail..." Camryn trailed off after listing what was on the screen, it was such a complex combination of toxins and ingredients, it could've easily killed a child, it's why dad got sick immediately after ingesting it, enough of it would've killed everyone at the party.

"How did something like this get into your dad's drink specifically, why not all of us?" Camryn demanded and that exactly was my question too, how did something so horrible find it's way into my dad's cup, why not all the other wolves there at the party.

[I don't want to point fingers but this does not seem coincidental] I signed and Camryn nodded eagerly.

"Someone meant for this to get into his cup but who?" he growled out and despite my own curiosity and bubbling anger.

I needed to get the antidote ready and the accelerant, then deal with whoever tried to kill my dad.

So I turned to the list I had given Camryn and we had a few ingredients missing.

[We need mountain ash, white oak bark, fuschia leaves, damphier roots and for the accelerant we need one ingredient, red thorn leaves, it's a well known herb used by healers on werewolves to accelerate healing by chewing the leaves but it doesn't grow in a normal garden, it's unpredictable and tends to choke other plants] I explained to Camryn showing him the images of the ingredients we needed and he nodded in return.

"I know the places marked here to get them but one of these is in the heart of rogue territory, it won't be easy to get," he explained and with that I deflated, I needed the accelerant for dad.

"It doesn't mean we can't go, he's not just your dad anymore short-stack, mine too and if leave now, it'll take about a day and half to get it all," he finally concluded and all I wanted was to hug Camryn.

I was grateful that he was willing to go through all this just to help my dad, it made tears well up in my eyes as he hugged me.

"I got you choco-moose and I'm not letting go," he assured me as we stayed in that hug for a moment longer, then we parted to get ready.

[We're going to need collection bags, that can preserve the ingredients, we also need hiking boots, in fact hiking equipment] I paused as he chuckled.

[What's funny?] I demanded using my phone.

"I never thought our first night or the rest of our lives knowing we're mates would start out with me taking you into the wild," he stated and it caused me to laugh as well.

[I blame you, you're the roguish wolf] I teased and he growled playfully.

"Oh if I'm to blame then I'm sure you can handle this roguish wolf, when he gets wild," he argued pouncing on me playfully, causing more laughter and a refreshing wave of happiness to flow into me, despite what we were headed into, he was still the same Camryn and I was happy.

After getting everything we needed, including my dad's old hiking gear which was what fit Camryn, and of course tons of bottles of water, we had settled into his car.

"Are you ready?" he questioned as he held out his large hand for me, it was warm, enveloped mine fully and reassured me of so many things, he was here with me, so I nodded, I was ready.

So he peeled out of the driveway and sped down the road, it should've terrified me but I guess there was a reason why he and I were mated, the speed, the acceleration, the rush, it was exhilarating for some reason and he smiled my way, as we left an unusual dust trail behind us.

As a sufficient three hours of driving passed, out of pack territory and out of Bridgeton, we finally stopped at a gas station which was positively in the middle of nowhere.

[We need to head east into the woods from here, but there are no roads from here on out, so we have to start that hike] I told him and he nodded after filling the tank.

"Great, I'll talk to the station attendant and see if we can leave the car here, I'll be right back," he explained, placing a kiss on my forehead before taking off inside the slightly rundown gas station shop.

About five minutes later Camryn came back and I had taken what we needed from the trunk.

[What did they say?] I asked in sign language.

"Haggled a bit but he agreed, I'll park it in his garage, he says it's safer there," he explained and I nodded, as I stood to wait for him to park.

Within a few minutes Camryn and I had taken off into the woods, after showing him the map, he had easily found a trail which led where we were going.

I didn't miss how alert he got, he seemed to be in his element and as a wolf, I could tell, the wild was his home, it's how he could navigate so easily, pick up danger before we even encountered it.

"Stop," he lowly hissed as I froze in place, a minute or two passed, I wanted to question why he had abruptly made us stop until I saw the dull gleam of dark grey almost black scales in the grass just yards away from us.

"Black mamba, extremely poisonous but it seems to have had it's fill already so we'll just circle around to be cautious," he explained and that's how I finally breathed a heavy sigh of relief, thanking the Moon Goddess for not just giving me a mate who was an engine junkie but a primal predator too, despite how horrible that sounded.

Another hour of walking had us finding our destination, it was in a small clearing.

I was elated to actually find more than one of the ingredients we needed.

"Isn't that fuchsia?" Camryn asked as we hurriedly walked to where a field of it blew freely in the wind.

[It is and that's damphier, we did it] I happily replied as soon enough I had carefully dug out the plant roots and more so we could grow it at home, then the fuchsia as well.

"It's getting hot, we need to get back to the gas station, get you fed and continue toward that," Camryn mentioned as in the distance he was pointing in.

I could see the outline of a mountain, and since we had travelled well into the afternoon, he was right, it was getting hot and late, so I nodded, we indeed needed to get a move on.

I could only hope getting these ingredients was this easy.

Howling Love - Chapter 18

"Feel better?" Camryn questioned and I nod, it had been a few hours since he barged into the infirmary wing we were in, made me feel so connected to him in a way that I couldn't and still can't full grasp yet.

His proclamation, his words, despite my worry over my dad, they rang in my head, loud, clear and true. I was his mate, he was mine and I would always be his.

I had been worried for a long time about what it meant if we weren't mates but now it didn't matter, what mattered was being in his arms and having him smile like he was right now.

"Thankfully Orlando and Teja got the comfortable clothes and slides," he added and I nodded with a smile, he was so beautiful.

I don't know why Camryn's large physique made me smile, he dwarfed me yet it's why he was more adorable to me, weird I know.

"I am grateful you're here, for me, I know everyone else is here for me too and I am also grateful but I don't think I would've been held together if you weren't," I told him in sign language and his hands enveloped mine, he held them and me close in the not so tiny bathroom we stood in.

"I wouldn't be anywhere else, I need you to know that I will honour my words, I'll always be here for you and I want your dad to know that he just doesn't have one son to dote over anymore, he's got two now," he asserted, his tone reassuring me so much that I didn't need to say anything, there was a mutual understanding between us.

I was still thankful for him.

"Now come on, hopefully they have the dreaded news," he added and I groaned.

I had hated the wait to know how my dad was doing but in order for him to be okay.

I needed to be patient, we all did, like Alpha Summer after he was told the situation, clearly he still loved my father.

I could see the anguish and hurt over his features when uncle Kyra told him what happened, it also made me wonder why he still loved my dad so much when he had a mate and children with said mate or there was something more I or any of us didn't know.

As we got back into the allocated waiting room my aunt was the first to check on me.

"Are you alright sweetheart?" she asked and I nodded as Camryn veered us toward our vacant seats.

"You need to drink something, I'll go get juice, okay?" he suggested but I involuntarily held on to his large bicep, it was a knee jerk reaction I hadn't expected even from myself.

"Duck-face, I'll be right back, don't worry," he tried to soothe me, yet a part of me, well all of me didn't want him that far not even for a minute.

I feared I would break.

"Hey, it's okay, Orlando, come on, let's get something for everyone," Dean suggested and Orlando surprisingly didn't hesitate, it was unusual he didn't grumble or complain, something was going on between those two, something was different, I could tell.

"Some birthday. Huh? Choco-moose," Camryn began and I chuckled.

[Only your birthday would be this dramatic boy-scout] I replied and he protested with a growl.

[What, it is the truth] I retorted and he nudged me gently whilst Max and the others laughed lightly.

"It might've been dramatic but I got you out of it, so I guess you're the drama magnet." he argued making iy my turn to protest by smacking his arm.

"Hey, you started it," he added nudging me again, it caused a chain reaction of laughter even with Alpha Summer,and this was the reason why I was grateful for Camryn, with him a whole room could light up in laughter.

After another hour of waiting, it was almost five in the morning as the door to the theatre opened and we stood alert to hear what the doctor had to say.

"Alpha Summer, Beta Kyra, I understand you're his son, Amille Laurent?" he asked and I nodded.

"Right, I have good news and bad news, I'll start with the good news, the procedure was successful, we were able to clear out the poison from his system and thankfully due to your quick thinking none of it had reached his neural nervous system so there is no damage, he will recover, however due to the blood loss and damage that is now healing on his lungs and his liver, he won't wake up, right now he's in a medically induced coma and it is to my knowledge he'll stay unconscious until he's fully healed which may take time, so we'll make preparations to keep him here until he's fully healed," the doctor explained and I was confused, whether to be happy or not, dad would survive yet he wouldn't be awake until he's fully healed, and even with wolf healing it would take time.

"Doctor what is your estimate, when will he wake up?" Alpha Summer demanded.

"We can't say for sure as I have explained, even with werewolf healing. Mister Laurent is lucky to be alive and healing the way he is," he again explained and I moved forward.

[Accelerant?] I suggested with my phone and the doctor frowned.

"We have tried but it's still not enough. What's needed now is patience," he asserted and nodded toward us taking his leave but I grabbed his coat.

"When can we see him?" I demanded holding myself together more so than ever, my dad would be healed, I would make sure of it.

"He's been moved to a room. You can see him now but two at a time," he responded checking his watch then relayed information of the room to us.

It wasn't far from where we had originally been seated.

I opened the door cautiously, coming face to face with my whole world, tears welled up in my eyes as I looked at his unconscious body, the many tubes and machines he was hooked up to. 

I couldn't hold myself together anymore, not when he was like this, so I cried, cried knowing I almost lost him, he was my dad, the only parent I had and I almost lost him, it hurt but I knew I had to help him recover, I needed to be strong for him.

'You're gonna be okay dad, I promise.'

"It's going to be okay Amille, you heard the doctor, he's going to be okay," Camryn comforted me as I wiped my tears away, nodding toward his statement and he was right, he was going to be okay.

[I need your help with something, find anything sharp or a needle, we need a blood sample from him.] I told Camryn who seemed perplexed but obliged.

"What are you planning?" he questioned as I found a vein by my father's left arm, stuck in the needle and drew blood into a bag, once I had enough.

I withdrew, the wound slowly healed, unlike how instant it should have been, which meant his body was going through a lot more healing internally than what the doctor's originally thought.

[I'm going to find out what kind of poison was used on him, make an antidote, and make an accelerant to counter it and heal him faster] I explained shocking Camryn.

"You can do that, how?" he demanded in shock as all my training with Carter Defray Lynn was pouring back into me, he was the best healer I knew and I had been his apprentice for the longest time with some of my other friends.

[Before we came here I was an apprentice to the Ascender Pack's best healer, Carter Defray-Lynn. He taught me everything about healing but since we moved, I got so preoccupied, I stopped my practice] I explained with my cell-phone and Camryn nodded.

The Alpha in him grasping the situation quickly.

"Don't you need lab equipment and a lab itself," he suggested but I already had that at home.

[I already do, grab our stuff, we need to go, I need to talk to uncle Kyra and your dad] I told him and he nodded without hesitation, when we walked out, I was sure everyone was waiting for me to break down but I didn't.

[Uncle, Alpha, can I talk to you] I announced with my phone and they followed me aside as my aunt and my cousins went in to see dad.

"What is it kiddo?" my uncle questioned softly.

[I need to do something drastic, to help dad but I also need a favour from you guys, can you make sure no one besides the family or the doctor go inside to check on dad, not even your trusted warriors, not even your mate Alpha, I know I'm asking....] I couldn't finish.

"Done," Alpha Summer stated and I nodded.

"Do you need help, what are you planing?" Uncle Kyra asserted and I shook my head in refusal typing my response on my phone.

[No, I have all the help I need, just make sure dad is safe until I'm back, that's how you can help me] I explained and Camryn came up to us and nodded to me, my uncle didn't hesitate to come forward and hug me.

"Whatever you need to do, be careful, be safe, I'll watch over him, I promise," he whispered in our hug before letting go.

"Take care of your mate, Camryn," he ordered my neanderthal who nodded in return.

"I will."

There were no words said as I raced out of the sterile hospital with its blinding and non comforting white walls.

I was on a mission to save my father, so that I would see him again.

[Wait, did you park your car there?] I asked Camryn whipping around to face him rubbing his neck sheepishly.

"Yeah, I might've caused several accidents on the way here."
