i would like to present THE Anime Duo:

The Main Protag powered by immense effort, hardwork, dreams, frienship, etc. & The Other Protag powered by natural talent.

here are some example:

1. Hunter x Hunter: Gon and Killua

It was repeated a million times in the anime how Killua was naturally a genius while Gon makes up with his effort and undying determination.

2. Black Clover: Asta and Yuno

Meanwhile, this two are rivals. Yuno was already expected to achieve greatness because he can naturally control magic so well while Asta always says that not giving up is his magic.

3. Haikyuu: Hinata and Kageyama

Another rivals but they belong to the same team. Kageyama uses his talent to help Hinata exceed his limits but they still see each other as rivals. They continue to grow individually though Kageyama already has an edge since he's already known for his genius abilities while Hinata has to force his way through.

4. Diamond no Ace: Sawamura and Furuya

Same with kagehina, a sports anime rivalry belonging in the same team. We saw in the anime how Sawamura desperately tries to take the mound at first but with his friendly rivalry with Furuya, who was chosen as ace early in his career due to his talent, Sawamura was able to push himself further. Actually they both push each other to exceed their limit.

5. Shingeki no Kyojin: Eren and the Ackermans

Instead of a duo, it's more of a companion. Eren was tasked as humanity's hope and to do that, he has the Ackermans who are naturally strong with him. Eren is a super determined protag which is strongly driven by his determination to eradicate titans so the Ackermans who are cool headed strong fighters always got his back.

7. Boku no Hero Academia: Midoriya and Bakugou

God, I love this rivalry so much. Bakugo who was a natural strong kid which is why he became overly proud and deku who really had nothing at first. Deku had to climbed to be at par with Bakugo and their fight really made them grow. Not only that, both were exposed with many things which brought them to many realizations. Witnessing their growth as a person (specially Bakugo) and as a hero was like a mother watching his kids grow. sniffs

Special mention: Midoriya and Todoroki

I would like to mention this two because along the way, they become a duo that fights side by side specially in the Stain Arc and in the OVA, Training of the Dead. They also give each other advises. Midoriya, who can't bring his power in full capacity, really helped this rich talented kid realize his power which made Todoroki become better as a person too. This is why I really like Deku as a protag and as a hero because not only he saves people literally but he also save them with his kind words. (and fuck i really ship them so hard)
