My CAS experience was very special to me. It made me grow right from the beginning of my experience. At first, I was very lost and thought that CAS is pointless and made only to make our lives harder, but I quickly changed my opinion. My breakthrough happened right at the beginning when I started to go with my classmate to visit a boy with cerebral palsy. The sense of purpose it gave me each time I saw that boy smile at us and be a little bit happier made me feel like maybe CAS really is useful. And from there I really started to appreciate my experience. It really helped me grow as a person and challenged me to try new things, such as develop new cooking skills that I might’ve not dared to try otherwise. For CAS I learnt Korean which I could then use during my trip to South Korea, during which I challenged myself to hike the tallest mountain in Korea. Through CAS I got fit as I trained Krav Maga to be able to protect myself, jogged and went on long walks, whether abroad or in my country. And last, bot the least, I could feel like I’m making a change. Not only because of visiting a boy with cerebral palsy but also through my work in habitat for humanity and especially, through collecting clothes from my friends and family to give them to the homeless, so that they have something comfortable and clean to wear, especially in winter. Overall, my CAS experience proved to be very useful and challenged me to try and learn new things as well as forced me to challenge my preconception, learn how to collaborate with other and employ a different, wider perspective.
In October me and a friend took part in otrzęsiny of pre-IB as our cas project. We made escape room, a part of which you can see in the picture. This experience taught me how important it is to know how to work in a team. But also it allowed me to bond with new people in our school. I hope they felt really welcome in our school!
Today I once again got the chance to collect clothes and shoes from my friends and family to give them away to the homeless, this is just a fraction of what I managed to collect
I got the chance to give away warm winter clothes taken from mine and my friends’ and family’s closets to the homeless again. It feels so satisfying to know that someone will be able to keep warm during this cold season
Today I made tofu in Korean ketchup sauce, it was very tasty and showed me that ketchup can be used in many other ways aside from just being a condiment
