I don't really think about the occulture much but I do have a gripe with how the modern "aesthetic" has become so dull. A tradition of magic from people who couldn't get enough of colours and rainbows now filled with B&W filters.

Pondering sikidy has made me even more distrustful of the notion that magic has any sort of "magnitude of power" when it comes to casting spells or whatever else. In sikidy, a divination reading can be massively deadly, but misfortune can still be curtailed by performing a small sympathetic rite like throwing away a bug.

It's easy to intuit that more effort = more power, it's kind of one of the central axioms we use day to day, but following Man of Madim online--watching him extensively prepare for and perform a Goetic rite, and watching him still fail--was a wake-up moment for me.
