tbh I just don't read Sam as the "co-leader" at all lol. It's all Dani.
Like what does he bring to the table, in Claremont's run specifically, except being wrong all the time and also the only white boy for miles?
I like Sam just fine but "co-leader" doesn't feel right imo.
#i like the explanation that he's the new mutants big brother#like they go to him with their issues#and dani's good in the field#but co-leader always feels like to large of a label#for his role#though professor x definitely wouldn't let dani be sole leader#(even though the rest of the team wouldn't care)#so maybe he just “babysits” dani for professor x

Take a look at this cover for X-Men #19:
So glad they dropped that horrible redesign for Doug.
And just to stick to the Magneto and Magneto-adjacent theme for this tumblr, Warlock and Doug are former students of Magneto. I think it's far more likely that we're going to see Magik and Doug interact than Magneto and Doug. But at least there's a chance for a headmaster Magneto callback.
